The District GastroBar has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant's entrance, a well curated modern speak easy with a nostalgic vintage ambiance and an eclectic array of "one off" pieces of Prohibition and 1940 era inspired artwork. Walk past the restaurants front door, guests encounter a antique bronze tin ceiling wrapped around historic 1900 brick, custom vintage lighting, but only the adventurous will discover all that The District GastroBar has to offer. With a distinct dining room, grandiose bar layout, an open air patio and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon inspired feel and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course. Chef Lamond Cooper and menu creator Andre Walton have adapted to the new shared plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with The District GastroBar menu, they have created waves on the food scene better known as GASTRONOMY!

We had a 6:30 reservation for two with plans to attend a concert at the Kia Center after dinner. We were seated immediately and given food menus. We had to ask for the cocktail menu (received it 10 minutes after we sat down) then had to ask for the Happy Hour menu (received it another 10 minutes later). At 7:00 I finally grabbed the hostess and asked if someone could please take our order. She offered to relay our drink order and food order to our waitress. About 10 minutes went by and our waitress came by the table and said she would go make our drinks and had them to us in about 5 minutes. Five minutes later she came back to tell us that one of the items we ordered was no longer offered (Ahi Tuna Tacos). We changed the order. Another 10 minutes went by when the hostess stopped and asked if we had received our food yet - nope. Five minutes later the waitress came by to tell us there was "some confusion" over our order and they were cooking it now (now over an hour past when we arrived). Ten minutes later, one dish arrived but we were told the other was still being made. I had to ask for silverware which took about five minutes. We received the final dish about five minutes later. An hour and 20 minutes after we arrived we had our food. We ate quickly, and as it was getting close to the time for the concert to start and there was no sign of our waitress, I had to go inside and ask the hostess to run our check. She asked how everything was and I told her the service was unfortunately not good. Her reply was "I don't disagree." The food was okay, the two carne asada tacos were light on filling and had no sides. The margherita flatbread was fine, but nothing special. The highlight was the Lavender Bliss Martinis. They were delicious. Overall, I was disappointed after reading great reviews.

This place is in a great location, and it’s pretty good overall. The Gastrobar is literally steps away from the Kia Center, and they have a solid menu of food and drinks prior to a concert. If you choose to visit, plan ahead. The service is slow, mostly due to 1 waitress who was running amongst an overwhelming amount of tables. Be prepared. If you plan ahead, it’s no big deal. The food was good overall. We tried the Philly rolls (only available on the happy hour menu) and then got the brisket grilled cheese and pimento burger with Parmesan rosemary fries. Burger was cooked well, grilled cheese was good with a delicious au jus sauce and the fries were also good. Overall a solid experience; we would come here again for sure.

The bar and dining areas were completely overwhelmed on Saturday night about 2 hours before the Journey concert at the Kia Center. We made reservations and an hour after ordering still did not have our food. The bar tender never sent our food order back, then accidentally canceled it (another table walked out). After several conversations she confirmed she resent the order to the kitchen. Then we the restaurant was nearly empty (90 minutes into our visit), she went back to have them expedite our food. Shockingly, my black bean burger came out ice cold. Glasses from the bar were dirty (inside and out). I totally get being short staffed or overwhelmed by a crowd, but the cold food and dirty glasses really made it a "no" for us.

Horrible experience - 50 minutes to get food. Charged a 20% Fee and was not alerted. Second time there and will never go back.

Sounds like our experience was similar to others that night and in the past- we made a reservation well in advance on a concert night- when arriving at restaurant we found the place either grossly overbooked or they gave tables to people without reservations- we got seated in a back room (nice enough place actually) where we were told there was a limited menu, no wait staff and if we wanted drinks we had to go to bar to get them ourselves. The food was actually good and really decent priced, but it was clear that the establishment was very under prepared for a concert crowd and doesn’t seem familiar with how a reservation system should work…odd for a place that has been there a while and is right next door to the Kia Center (which I would think would attract large crowds quite often)…really too bad

Had dinner here before the Journey concert. Burgers were fantastic. Our waitress Sandy was wonderful. We highly recommend.

Food was very good but pricey. Chicken wings were great. The service was good but there is an automatic 20% gratuity added to all checks, no matter how many people. For that reason the staff is not as friendly as other restaurants because they automatically make the money. It was our first visit I dont think we would go back.

The website needs to be updated. Food was not the same as the website. however, the food was very tasty and presentation was OK.
