We had an OK family lunch. Very Covid aware dining. Only 4 children at a time in playground. Lots of dogs with their owners. Noisy coffee machine, depending where you are seated.
The staff were really friend but the service was not great (we had to ask for tap water 3 times before we finally got it). I had an open sandwich which was pretty terrible, some of the ingredients (e.g. the avocado) was so cold it was as if it had been frozen.
The steak was good but the burger meal was terrible. Over priced and very poor quality. Two members of staff very unhelpful, fortunately the lady waitress understood and gave as much discount as she could and was very apologetic. In all honesty the burger should have been a full refunded as it was quite disgraceful.
The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Unfortunately, the food was not great. The portion sizes were very mean and the quality was drab and uninteresting. It really was not good value for the amount of money they charged. It was a bit quiet and didn't have great ambience but I think it would be unfair to put that down to the venue or the team as Covid is spiking again and there were only a few tables with customers. Sadly I wouldn't be recommending this place to my friends.
Attentive staff right up until vegetarian curry was served x two. Both were served cold, rice & curry. Both were sent back & were re-done but we were disappointed that no-one came over to apologise for the wait at all, so the other people we were with ended up
Eating their mains without us whilst we waited. Even when the bill was brought out there was no apology & the first pint served was also off & had to be sent back! The service was absolutely fine but we would have thought they could have gone that one step further to keep us in the loop.
Beautiful setting and a warm welcome on arrival. Staff were helpful and pleasant, but were not attentive with table service. Wait times were slow given the quiet tables. The mains were delightful and they honestly do the best crispy/fluffy tasty chips ever! However the dessert was disappointing. We both ordered cinnamon donut with icecream. The donut had the texture of a chewy bread roll, thankfully the icecream saved the crust (should a donut have a crust?) cleanliness and social distancing was adhered to (Visit was during COVID-19). The positives of our visit outweigh the negatives, so we will definitely be back.
Had to go to the bar twice to get service/menu because no-one came to check if we needed more drinks or wanted a desert. Shame because the venue, food overall and ambience are all great. Slightly disappointed at the description of the doorstep sandwich. It was big enough for a lunch but only a very slight doorstep!
Basic pub food. 10%service charge added automatically which I have never had in a pub before. Only 2 people eating. Slow service.
Good food great service
Very Good. Most welcoming will return. Liked the chicken and ham pie
We had booked an indoor table for lunch, but on arrival and having explained we would like an indoor table we were told we should sit outside because it was a sunny day and we should ‘make the most of it’, we protested that it was a hot day, we had ‘been outside all morning’ and we had booked an indoor table, we were told ‘don’t get me started’ and were shown outside to a crowded beer garden. We went back inside to request an indoor table and eventually were shown to one. The waitress that visited our table was friendly and helpful and service was prompt. The beef roast was flavoursome, but a bit on the tough side including the roast potatoes and the plates could have done with being heated. The ambience was quite and there was good decor. So on the whole we had a bit of a mixed experience.
Lovely place for a covid safe meal. Appreciate that the menu had to be reduced, but could do with side order or veg and jacket potatoes as a meal choice added.
Very good food, much enjoyed by all in our group with different choices. We booked outdoor table but were offered indoor table as it was windy. This thought was appreciated thanks
Lovely pub in a great location. Perfect for a walk before or after. Local ales and good food.
The drift never dissapoints. Lovely day to sit outside. Social distancing was perfect, friendly staff and food as always was delicious!
Lovely food with a really interesting menu not just the usual stuff you get at pubs .
All staff wearing face masks so felt really safe , beautiful surroundings but not too far to travel from Southampton where I live .
Good experience. Very covid safe, temperature taken on arrival. Staff wearing masks even in garden on very hot day! Food nicely presented and good value for money. Lady on door nice, welcoming and professional. A good experience. Would return.
The Drift Inn was in a lovely location.Walks opposite.Service was excellent, very helpful and abliging. The was really presented well and very delicious.Highly recommend this Inn.
Main meal food was only just warm. Yorkshire puds were cold. The waiter offered sauces but did not bring them. Bitter shandy tasted like the lemonade was flat. We did not stay for deserts.
Whilst the food was very well cooked and presented we felt it was not as hot as it should have been. The pub was very quiet even for 4.00pm on a Sunday afternoon and had no atmosphere at all/
Service was very poor, staff unhelpful and disinterested, unable to have a drink before our booked meal due to COVID-19 restrictions??? Our food was nice but my meal of roast pork totally spoilt by a massive amount of mustard mixed in with the gravy.
Food really greasy. Childens meals came out at different times. So one 3 year old twin had a mealt down (we naturally thought his meal on the way so gave other twin his). Pie of the day was indescribable in a bad way! No condiments offered . Bill for 2 children & 2 adults nearly £40 ! Saw lots of roast dinners being left. I think they charged 10% service charge as well!!
Great food and location. Play area for children which was good. Sat outside was lovely. Had roast dinner which was delicious. Would go back!
This was the most awful Lunching experience I have ever had after waiting 35 minutes for drinks and then waiting a further 40 minutes for the food to turn up only to find that it was stone cold upon complaining we was told you can have it warmed up this was awful at that point we asked for an immediate refund I would not go back to this pub ever again dreadful
Nice place, felt ok with the covid restrictions etc. Roast beef was very good. Could do with a kids option for the Roast.
the menu was very small good have been better there wasn't much choice, the waiter Joseph was very good.
I found this lovely pub in the middle of the New Forest the experience should have been lovely but it was not.
So many items not on the menu certain beers had run out.
Travellers blocking road outside, food poor, beef pink, vegetables must have been from the previous day and barely warm, expensive for what you get £17.50 for a warm undercooked beef roast, disappointed Frankly.
lovely location we went on a Saturday
at 14.00 very busy so kitchens struggling to cope so had to wait a a bit not a problem as in no rush, menu not so large was all edible though and well presented and hot!! had dogs with us so sat in garden nice play area for kids
A great pub in a lovely location and the food / service was good. Perhaps it was just covid related restrictions, but it felt a bit soulless inside when we had lunch there with our two dogs.
We went here early evening for a family meal, it was delicious 😊
Food was amazing, staff were really attentive and I was very impressed with the social distancing also our temperature was taken before we entered which I was great!
Unfortunately it was a bad day for the restaurant! Lack of staff, lack of availability of items from the menu and seated in what seemed to be the foyer ! The staff tried their best but they were run ragged.
Long long wait for service. Food not as amble as expected
The out door card machine was not working. The staff outside had to keep running in. Leaving the outside bar empty. I feel more staff should of been on to help the outdoor staff enabling the bar to be manned. Alot of drinks were missed as orders were put in however the staff lost track of what had been served
The food is overpriced for what is served. The service is woefully slow. There is a choice of two draught lagers only. The house wine was poor quality at best. The “eat out to help out “ experience was a battle. I booked after following the link on Instagram. I was told I have to quote EOTHO on my booking for them to honour the offer. This was hard to see how to do on opentable. I then had to fight to get them to refund the 50%. Completely marred the experience. I would never go back.
Food was really good for a pub, especially the ribeye steak.
Service could have been better, slow and lacked planning and forethought.
No bad, not great. £40 for a family of 4 is fine with the discount. Certainly not worth the £13 sausage bun or burger menu price.
Shame, lovely place, but wont be going back for a while.
Stressful! Shown to a dirty table (it was only 12.30) . Had to seek out staff to take drinks order. Food ok but not great for the money. Mushy peas arrived in pot that had tomato sauce encrusted around rim. Had to seek out staff to change. Had to ask for cutlery and sauces. Most staff were wearing masks under their noses. Didn’t notice at the time but they slapped on 10% service charges (of whole bill , not just after discount) it was only when I got home I read the small print and realised that it wAs discretionary! Why did they not inform me before the bill was printed. Nice play area.
Didn’t even get served walked out and not atmosphere
