My husband and I enjoyed our meal very much. We got the porterhouse steak, Brussel sprouts, and risotto for 2 special. Our meal was excellent and Matt provided excellent service. The chocolate dessert was very delicious. Ambiance was relaxing and romantic. I would definitely dine here again and recommend this restaurant.
Valentines Day was our Anniversary and we decided to celebrate at Coffee Creek with their Valentines Day Special dinner - Love the Venue, the Atmosphere and the entire dinning experience was one of the best we have ever had. Chef Nick Kustala took the time to stop at our table to greet us and chat (nice touch) then the Mussel appetizer came - by far the best mussels my wife and I have ever had anywhere. The Lobster Bisque and Black Truffle soup were out standing and the large serving tray of a perfectly seasoned and medium rare Filet with scallops, roasted brussel sprouts, risotto with a wonderful sauce was exceptional!! The desert was a red velvet cake and 3 layer mousse. What a amazing dinning experience!!
Great food , quaint atmosphere- had dinner in the couples room over the wine cellar, which was cozy, and our waitress Angie was very attentive. I especially like going to small restaurants versus the chain type, Chef Nick is truly a wonderful cook and after dinner invited us into the kitchen to show us around and answer any questions we had about the home.
We were told about this place by a friend and decided to check it out. My boyfriend has just returned to this area after 7 years in the Army and we have yet to find many good places for a nice date night close to where he lives in Rock Creek. We were delighted by the vibe and inviting employees! The concept of market style was a bit different to us but fun. If market style isn’t your vibe, they will come to you. We had employees checking us the whole time- from a chef explaining the self-serve beverage, to the host and servers checking how our meal was going. The highlight was the General Manager, Matt. He was so accommodating, kind, and we had a great conversation! Excited to see all the updates in the works for this place. Definitely recommend- we will be back!
We actually left before dining. Upon entering, no one was around to greet us for our reservation. After milling around we walked to a large menu board. We were instructed the beverage selection, including wine was self service. We had eaten here once before and our waitress said beverages were self service so that wasn't a shock. The beverages all sat on shelves like a college house party with a bowl of ice in front of the shelves. We were then told it's a market style restaurant and these were our choices.
We said we had reservations for 715. The man said he'd have someone seat us. We milled around again, walking to the back area that turned out to be the dining area. No one had seated us so we walked back to the main area. Another customer came up to the bar and asked where their order was, appeared as though they had been waiting a long time for their sushi order. We stood around a little longer and just left....
Second visit, no better than the first.
When walking in, it appears you are in an abandoned building. There was no one at the desk. We were waved over by the “hostess” who was sitting at a table rolling silverware. The owner was wearing a dirty t shirt and shorts standing in front of what looks like a deli case from a grocery store. He took our order. Was told to get our own drinks from the wall. The wall can be described as “where leftover pop from weddings go”. Variations of 2 liters and cans to choose from. Metal tub of ice and glasses. Seriously...we got our own drinks! Was also told to seat ourselves. We ordered an appetizer to share, I ordered a burger and hubby and kids ordered a sushi platter. After 30 minutes, burger and appetizer came out together. Asked twice for bbq sauce for dipping fries. Finally hubby went to get it himself. Another 45 minutes until sushi platter came out. Sushi was poorly rolled, rice was hard, seaweed was crunchy. Overall...TERRIBLE! Terrible ambiance, terrible service, terrible food. One chef doing the cooking...who at one point was walking around the dining room apologizing to all the tables for the long wait. First time there...as well as last time there.
This was our fourth time eating there. Every time the service has been good and the food has been exceptional! But every time the seating arrangements have been different. This visit was the most challenging as there was a wedding taking place; only outdoor seating was offered; it was chilly; and we needed handicap accomodations. But, Joe, who could not have been nicer, and some of the female servers recognized our dilemma and did what they could for us. The meal was absolutely fantastic! It is an excellent choice for foodies, but you must always be prepared to be flexible!
It was a fun experience. Picking out and pouring your own beverages. No liquor license per say so you serve yourself beers and wines and cold drinks. Pick out your meal from a chalk board by the meat case and give your order to the chef! Food was excellent! And the owners and servers very nice and accommodating. Don’t hesitate to try it!!

We have never eaten here before, when we arrived we were sat at a dark table in the corner and given menus. The waitress explained we would be serving ourselves with beverages and ordering from the butcher counter. We asked about the weekly special, which is why we went, and she said “he doesn’t want to do it now”. She mentioned he just got out of the hospital, which is understandable. I’m not sure who “he” is though. We went to look at the drinks, which all seemed warm due to the 80+ degree temperature outside in a non-air conditioned room. None impressed us at first so we chose to head to the butcher counter. The gentleman there stated they had three out of the 5/6 on the menu available. All of which they only had the most expensive cuts. We asked about the vegetables and potatoes to find out it was snap peas, which they said “we could also maybe get some green beans too” and a baked potato with bacon “we could also maybe add some sour cream if you want too”. The meat did not look appetizing enough to spend $80 a steak for. It was browned and unappealing. We were so dissatisfied that we ended up leaving the restaurant and going elsewhere.
It was a new and interesting concept but the food was delicious and the servers were very friendly.
We decided to order the chefs whim. It was an outstanding choice. The chef personally delivered the entree to our table which was comprised of a beautifully seasoned hasselbeck potato, 2 mini filet mignon, seasoned and cooked to the perfect temp, 1 large pork chop topped with a smoked Gouda and smothered in sautéed onions. There was also a roasted whole tomato and a beautiful serving of sugar snap peas. Everything was incredibly clean tasting and nothing contradicted the other in flavor. The pork chop was juicy and delicious. We really enjoyed everything about the meal and will definitely go back for steaks the next time!!!
Love this place, the food, the ambiance, the chef and owner Nick is just thee best!!! Highly recommend for a unique and unforgettable dining experience!!!
