First off the decor is very nice but guitar player was too loud. My halibut was full of bones and I didn't eat it. I was surprised that their was no question about that, however, it was bused by a busboy just wanting to do his job. The restaurant was not busy and I thought, being a fairly new restaurant, the manager might have strolled over to introduce himself and asked a few questions-never saw him/her. I think this is more of a weekday restaurant since it is located in an industrial complex. Too bad I was hoping for something better.
The place is great! My friend and I tried it for the first time. Brunch was delicious and the cucumber mimosa was tasty. So was the sangria...and original mimosa.
Told my husband we will need to go for lunch or dinner next.
Menu variety could be better
Ambiance is great... casual and relaxed. Food is fair... nothing outstanding. Portions were small.
Great food and relaxing atmosphere! Had Sunday brunch and enjoyed. Will be returning for happy hour and brunch! My eggs benedict was very tasty and the French toast my husband had was delicious.
We sat outside and atmosphere was very kid friendly. Kids menu was simple but good. My children didn’t care for the agave ketchup though. Inside looked really nice. We love to go again and have drinks at the bar.
Absolutely delicious brunch. Great service. Fantastic ambiance. This definitely fills a void in the dining scene in this area. I love having a place in the neighborhood that is not a chain, has great prices, and delicious food and drinks. Will definitely be making this a regular stop.
We are so excited to find this spot in our neighborhood! The food was great (though the portions were a bit small), the service was awesome, and the space was awesome for kids to run around. We will definitely be back!
Four of us had a lovely evening at Florence dining outside. Food was quite good but menu very limited. I would like to come back often but would quickly tire of this short menu. Hope they will add more choices. But do dine outside - although the inside couches are tempting!
Service was very slow once our orders were taken. Our food was only lukewarm.
This is a great restaurant and my review is a review of OpenTable and not The Florence. We went online on OpenTable to book a table for brunch and OpenTable provided two options 1.45pm and 2pm - we selected 2pm only to find when we arrived at The Florence that they actually closed at 2pm.
What a great find! Decor is really cool and is based on a wonderful true story. Atmosphere is great and food really good. They’ve only been open a short time but the staff had it down pat. Highly recommend!
We had looked forward to trying this restaurant as it was recommended to me by a friend. I wonder if she’d been there on a Monday night as we were. It was not very busy and we had to wait very long time to get our drinks and food. The ambiance inside is charming and I will try it once more - at lunch this time.
I always want to support local business. Right off, I saw a nice venue. Went inside. Took almost 10 minutes for me to get attention. Waiters and waitresses walked by with no acknowledgement. Hostess came out from the back out of nowhere to ask me finally. Food choices limited. Waitress was friendly and courteous enough. Nothing special to come back to unfortunately.
We found the ambiance and interior excellent. The outer area was full of guests enjoying the summer evening. Our service was fine, but the quality of the food was lacking. The reviews we read in the local newspaper encouraged us to try this restaurant, but unfortunately the food did not measure up. My Steak Frites was a horrible cut of meat that came out medium-raw instead of medium-well. The only redeeming feature were the tasty tater tots. The tomato bisque soup was good, the shrimp sald was average.
Our server was good enough to remove the steak from our bill and acknowledged that the dish needed more work; that she wished to re-order for us. But we passed.
The dinner menu is limited to maybe a few salads and about 5 mains.
I do not think we will go back, and that is a shame; given that we live close by.
Fantastic new restaurant - we went for brunch and it is dog friendly - really excellent food and drink - highly recommended.
The ambiance is super cute, however the price of the food and drinks are a little outrageous, we literally got 2 drinks and a side of fries our bill was $30...
We decided to take some friends from out of town here for dinner. The atmosphere is great, beautiful place to seat outside or inside, my kids enjoyed playing jenga outside. Sadly that was the best part of the restaurant, we had to wait almost an hour to get our food and after we got it we were very disappointed, the steak tasted very greasy and more like fish instead of steak, nothing on the plate was good and 4 out of 8 people ordered the same steak plate. They have good French fries though.
The atmosphere at the Florence is outstanding. We've had Jen as our server both times that we've been and she is fantastic. The food at brunch took a little long to come out so I recommend getting a pastry to start and give yourself plenty of time.
Great new restaurant. Happy hr could use a few more items on menu. Would return again soon.
Lovely restaurant, delicious food items.
First time at restaurant. Open-concept dining area inside, plenty outside dining also. Bar area quite large with barstool seating and many lounge areas. Food delicious and presented nicely. Items (bakery/coffees) to go. Will return to check out Happy Hour.
So happy to see people there on a Sunday at 1pm. Love the food, the decor and the wording on signs and menu. Everyone at the Florence was very attentive and we all had a great birthday celebration.
We had a Sunday Brunch at the Florence. We sat inside, which is very comfortable and cool. The decorations and vibe is high-end beachy. The memorabilia is very interesting. The staff was excellent, and the Rose' Sangria was a very good summer refresher. Our party enjoyed the food and our time there. We will be repeat customers, looking forward to the Chef branching out with a few more entree menu selections.
Was seated against a wall in the major walkway from the kitchen to the tables. Non stop people by our table yet took about 15 minutes to get a glass of water. It wasn’t even busy. Hubs ordered a beer which took another 15 minutes to get and after the food was served. When my hubs then says he no longer wanted the beer because it took so long, someone I’m assuming was Managment tried to give it to him for free. . They were accommodating at changing out cabbage for potatoes purée but then the purée was cold. They were nice enough and I believe want to do it right, just seemed unorganized. I was so hopeful we finally had a decent Restaraunt in our neighborhood. Doubt I’d go back. On a positive note, Jack was amazing and was really concerned about our happiness. He should train the others
Service was slow and food was not very good
very noisy. Waitress did not discuss items of the day, I had to ask. Ordered steak medium rare and it was almost raw.
I thought shrimp Louie wasn’t very good. Including the dressing. I’ve had other food there and liked other items. But shrimp Louie needs some work.
Second time at The Florence. First time was for breakfast and last time for dinner. Food was delicious and well prepared and presented. Liked the portion size as not overwhelming. Location great and the ambiance is open and airy as well as comfortable. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The menu is a bit limited in selections but what they make is delicious!
Great atmosphere. Mediocre food.
Seems like it’s still a new place. The restaurant itself is beautiful but outside we didn’t see any heat lamps for the afternoon and it got cold pretty fast around 6 o’clock. There are a few fire pits but those were taken. Food was good. Chicken wing appetizers we asked how many it came with but the server was unsure, we wanted to share with a table of 4 but there were only 3 pieces in there. Luckily, they were somewhat on the bigger side so we could split it up, but it still would have been nice to have at least 4 pieces in there. We sat outside, not sure if service seemed on the slower side or they just didn’t notice us as much. It wasn’t too long but it would always take a little longer to refill waters, or anything extra we needed. Overall still delicious, I think I would just sit inside the next time.
Food is terrific, still working out some of the kinks, staff getting trained, but add this one to your list of great San Diego restaurants! Would like to see some of the lunch options made available for dinner.
Beautiful ambiance, great service. I would go back and try something different.
Really good food they messed up my order and gave me a cheeseburger instead of a burger but it was delicious and the rice porridge was fantastic
Our reservation was for 12:30. We received our food ( eggs!) at 1:30pm. A ridiculous length of time! Waitress was so so! Drinks took 20 mins from the time they were ordered. True, it was Fathers Day - but the place was barely 2/3 full! Outdoor area, music and ambiance were lovely.
Food was yummy, but it took over an hour to get it. The kitchen was severely backed up, although it wasn’t extremely busy. The server was kind and explained it to us. I understand this restaurant is still working out the kinks. Having a sufficient kitchen staff during popular times would be beneficial!
Great new restaurant, delicious food, service, ambiance, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, we really enjoyed it! Will definitely be back and recommend to friends!
Thank you for opening this restaurant in our area!
Nice atmosphere but menu was too electek and not many items we enjoy. Since it had recently opened, service was not great but manager was training staff and checked on us, giving us dessert for the wait. If they change the menu, we might come back.
Loved it! The food and service was wonderful cute place great atmosphere ! I would absolutely go back again.
Really cute place that felt open and inviting. Went for breakfast/ brunch and was, unfortunately, disappointed. Lattes were luke warm - we ere early so maybe the machine wasn't fully hot? Had the baked avocado with egg.. was nice but too rich for my's taste. The coddled egg collapsed into the sauce so i couldn't avoid as much of it as i would prefer and it overtook the avocado and egg flavors. Teriyaki was different and nice. Friend's salmon seemed to be the better choice. I would return for lunch bt probably not for brunch again.
