Great food and great service. Wonderful atmosphere. Gage I have missed you!
The music was very weird, food was just okay, our server was excellent
We ordered the crabcake as an appetizer which was just okay in our opinions. My mom, dad, and sister ordered the carrot ginger soup, which they all enjoyed! I ordered the chicken pot pie. yum. I enjoyed it a lot. Our server was really nice and helpful!. I would recommended giving this place a try if you get the chance. :)
Had a wonderful evening with my wife. Both the food and service were amazing.
Our server was great and we found the atmosphere to be so very comfortable
Loved the food, as always. Wes, our server, was wonderful!
The Gage remains the perfect spot to grab an after work drink n the Loop!
Exceptional food and service
Great Dinner. Will return when in Chicago!!
The Gage has been a favorite of ours for years and it never disappoints. The mussels were amazing and the fish and chips were perfect.
The cocktails are always unique and wonderful.
Easy to make reservation. Attentive but not overly so service. Good meal. Decently priced
I always hate it when they give you a minute to look at the menu and then it turns into 20 minutes but in the end it was great
This was my daughter’s first experience and she loved every moment !! Thank you.
Our first meal upon arriving in Chicago - everything was absolutely fabulous! Many, many thanks to Rosie for taking such good care of us!
We had a wonderful ( and safe) dinner at The Gage during a weekend in Chicago. The staff was lovely, even calling in advance to make sure the online booking has assigned us to the right space and moving us when it hadn’t, welcoming us by name when we arrived and really attentive wait staff. We are on the enclosed tent while it rained outside and we were warm and dry inside. The food was fabulous- we had the halibut and pork, and was beautifully presented and prepared.
We will definitely come back to the Gage when we return to this terrific city
Honestly the fabulous dessert chef at The Gage is my main reason for coming back again and again, but the food is always wonderful. A mix of comforting classics with gastropub inventions and seasonal ingredients. Great atmosphere (dark and candlelit at dinner if you like that for date night). One of my favorites in Chicago.
Reserved for indoor seating. Was seated, not in main restaurant, but next door in a space that was inside, but not heated with outside door propped open to the tented patio. Our space was chilly and we ate with coats on. Our waitress seemed to be the only one for our area. She was pleasant yet to busy to be attentive. Not a good experience.
Good as usual. Sat at the bar. Had the crap cake which was mostly crab and deliciously seasoned. The tomato soup was silky and not overly acidic. Very lively flavors. Drinks were well balanced. We asked for the spicy margarita to be extra spicy and they muddled fresh jalapeños for us. Great service. Great experience.
Fantastic experience. The food was perfect, service was stellar. We had the scotch egg, steak frites and the burger and all were outstanding . Highly recommend .
Food was really good! Only thing I didn’t like was the coffee, I asked for a non-dairy alternative and the only option was almond milk and it’s not my favourite to use for a cappuccino.
This is an easy but fancy dining experience. Quality cocktails, wine, and beer. Good selection of food choices. Presentation and taste excellent. Dimly lit created an intimate setting (although my eyes had some difficulty due to that to read the menu) . Top quality food, drink, and service with requisite prices for such services.
Have been going to the Gage since it opened. Love the atmosphere and the food!
We were happy to be back dining in person at the Gage. The staff always greets us with professionalism and courtesy, our server Maggie was professional, helpful and pleasant and the food was superb. The fried pickles were amazing, as was the steak and the fish and chips (a classic) that my son and I enjoyed. Thank you for a nice family dinner at the Gage.
Great place for late lunch or early dinner after touring the Art Institute of Chicago. Mussels appetizer could be an entree.
The back booth where we were seated was very poorly lit. That's our only complaint!
Everyday, dates, special occasions, etc. my favorite place downtown!
Our lunch at The Gage Restaurant was awesome! We both ordered the delicious cheeseburgers for our early lunch. The service was wonderful and the ambiance was lovely. My friend had the Gage Gin and Tonic, and I had the Champagne Cocktail in celebration of our first restaurant outing in over a year! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Very nice lunch, but very expensive.
Very nice restaurant! Food was generally excellent other than halibut being overcooked.
Ambiance is great. Location is fun for tourist attractions. If you’re sitting outdoors it gets loud with traffic. The bar is great and I would like to come back with friends. Employees were all wearing masks and sanitary. Food was solid. I hope to come back and enjoy some drinks.
The food was delicious, and great location if you want to visit the Art Institute and Milenium Park
Great! Attentive waiters!
Service was attentive, food was delicious and overall a great experience.
We were in Chicago for Easter weekend. The Gage is a superb place to dine. Great wine list and very romantic setting. The best venison burger in the world!
It was Easter brunch and it comes down to being “all about the food”, which was not great. I had the chilaquiles and my daughter had the French omelette and we shared. The chilaquiles looked like it was cooked the day before, the eggs on top looked like they had been under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. The omelette was OK, no great flavors. It at least looked freshly made. The service was good and the cocktails were fantastic, the Champs-Elysee is the drink to order! I have eaten here before for a late lunch and food was good, today the kitchen was off.
The atmosphere was great. The food was also great. Our server was a bit quiet and made no recommendations and didn't seem helpful when it came time to order. The prices seemed reasonable. The lamb shank, wedge salad and burger were all great. The crab cake was decent (not the best I have had, but decent for a non-seafood restaurant). Definitely worth going back for another try.
This is the first time I've been downtown to eat since the pandemic. Although the menu was limited, the food was outstanding. Starting with the mussels, this standby is always delicious. The only drawback is that there's not enough bread to soak up the broth. As tempted as I was to just pick up the bowl and drain the contents, it felt wrong. The fresh fruit salad was also amazing with the dressing packing a little heat to cut through the sweetness of the fruit.
The main courses were just as delicious. From the fish & chips to the halibut fixed appropriately for a gluten allergy to my seafood stew. I was debating on a couple of items but the waiter steered me to the stew. I'm glad he did. Also delicious.
The service was attentive but not overbearing. The suggested 2 hour time limit never seemed to be an issue as everything came out timely with opportunities for great conversation.
This will continue to be one of my "go to" restaurants in Chicago.
Enjoyed restaurant week special with an impromptu date and we were very happy to have found a another great place to dine in our beautiful city 😋
