The ambiance at the George is excellent! We sat in the bar listening to some amazing jazz. We waited a long time to be served and the food and wine menu were disappointing. I think with some attention to the wine list and a critical eye on the food, this would be a five star review. Staff was extremely friendly. We will return.
Nice brunch. Live music (sometimes a little too loud), good food. Service was a little slow but we were ok as we were happy to chat and sip mimosas.
Great atmosphere in the bar area. Jazz music, great drinks and bartenders were super friendly and knowledgeable. We didn’t think it was too loud as some reviewers noted. The food was good, not excellent. We had a great time and would definitely go back again.
Excellent dinner. The taste, presentation and service were all memorable. Nice option just down from the Hotel Providence where we stayed the night.
Everyone was very friendly and the food was very good. The house cocktails are inspired and tasty.
Our only criticism would be that the cheese and cured meat board was uninspired ... only 2 kinds of cheese and three meats, with a cup of jam, pistachios, and olives. That's it. Skip it and get the shrimp cocktail which was fantastic.
When I left my credit card at the table when we left, the server and hostess tracked me down and got them back to me. We will be going back soon.
Try the Thai Calamari!
Brunch was awesome!
The brunch was really bad. I got the breakfast burrito which barely had anything in it and nothing resembling breakfast (no eggs), with a stale wrap. My fiancée got the steak and eggs. She ordered the steak med rare. Steak arrived well done. Sent it back and got an extra rare steak, barely cooked. Also they do not season their steaks at all, not even salt! Terrible food. Will not go back.
Salmon Benedict. Fantastic.
My husband and I went to The George for the first time last night and it was great. We were there celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Our host was very nice and put us at a beautiful large table in the corner, it was perfect. Our server, Dan, was helpful, attentive, and answered all of my questions.
We both ordered daily specials and they were fantastic. We also ordered calamari for an appetizer, not everyone cooks it properly, but they did a great job.
We’ll definitely be back; I’d love to take our daughter there.
GREAT place with charm and great food! Monday night dinner special is phenomenal.
$39 for dinner for 2 including a bottle of wine! How can you go wrong?
Brunch is amazing too!
The waiter never offered the specials to our table, but did to other tables. They had no ice tea and when I asked what other non alcoholic drinks they had besides water, he offered non alcoholic beer. Not much selection for someone who doesn’t drink. The noise level was vey loud and it was hard to talk
It was our 2nd time there & it did not fail. Our server was Christopher who went above & beyond. We will be back
Excellent atmosphere and cuisine! We can't wait to return. 5 stars!
The food and service was outstanding will definitely be back
This was our first time visiting The George. The staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable especially Kevin. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Will definitely go back!
The George Bar Side had a nice atmosphere. The bar tender made an excellent very dry Tanqueray straight up martini. Our server was very nice. My husband enjoyed heis pizza but my seared sea scallops were overwhelmed hash of fingerling potatoes, scallions, grape tomatoes and maybe caramelized onions. The has was good just a little too heavy for the scallops. We both enjoyed the Buffalo cauliflower. At this time I would recommend a friend cocktails and appetizers.
Service was great, nice interior, yet air conditioning was over the top, also noise level was very loud. Mix reviews on the food. General statement with our group was it was just ok. These are tough times so will give it another try in the future.
Excellent choice. Owner always stops by to check. Food delicious and very reasonable prices for Brunch,
Lobster ravioli was to die for
Anxious to try this latest incarnation of the old Dreyfus Hotel, my friend and I visited on a fairly busy Friday night. Whereas the previous restaurant on site had more leather-boothed banquettes and table cloths, this was no longer the case. I don’t know about you, but when I’m paying premium prices at a restaurant, I have certain expectations. Baseball caps and a good part of the guests looking like they just got off the Grateful Dead tour bus do not meet those expectations. We all like to be casual, but come on! And there were no tablecloths in sight.
As usual the experience was great. Food and service was outstanding. The Monday special is an exceptional value.
Service was great! Live music too. Just didn’t love the drinks.
Never disappointed. The food and drinks are amazing and the staff are all friendly and professional. While we were looking forward to their delicious bone-in pork chops, the braised short rib Mac & cheese stole the show. So incredibly flavorful!!
They were closed when we arrived.
Food was excellent and great prompt service! Look forward to going again.
Amazing experience …. Highly recommend!
Excellent food and our server was friendly and attentive
We had a wonderful time at The George. We had a large booth, which was both roomy and seemed intimate. We could all hear each other in conversation. The waitstaff were very helpful, attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent. (My sister and I had the salmon and it was great, as were the potatoes and green beans.) The ambiance is fun.
The only slight downside was that there was only one one-person bathroom on the main floor and it looked little shabby. Otherwise, it was a great place.
Tried the Monday Funday! The meal was great from start to finish! Highly recommend you try this gem!
Noisy atmosphere. Bartender made a White Russian instead of the order of a Sombrero which took 20 minutes to get. Appetizer came out at a reasonable time. Entrees took over 45 minutes after the appetizer to appear. Ordered steak tip and Mahi-Mahi specials - steak tips were fatty. Waitress was hard to pin down cause she just wasn’t on the floor or catering to larger parties. They have a 90 minute seating limit and overall we were there for 60 minutes before we actually ate…
Went for brunch on a Sunday, the food was good but the noise level in the restaurant was very loud to the point that we could not hear each other speaking. We didn’t get our food until over an hour in, despite being ready to order quickly - the place didn’t seem very busy. Overall vibe in the restaurant was nice, but not a relaxing fast brunch place.
My steak tips were way overcooked. Like shoe leather....A butter knife was all we had to cut the meat so we assumed they had faith in their cook....um...nope...Asked for tips over Risotto instead of Mashed and told our server I would have no problem paying for the upcharge. She said fine. My wife got the same thing over mashed. She had six tips and mashed and I got four small tips.. for 32 bucks a plate I believe. Calamari was great, beers were cheap..Dinners...not so great
excellent service from the valet to our fabulous server!!
Our Server Johnathan was excellent and tended to our every need with great suggestions. The entertainment in the lounge with Christiana singing was fabulous...her voice is as my friend said "like whipped cream". Loved the woodwork in the lounge!
First time here for dinner and it was wonderful. The spicy Calamari and Surf & Turf was tremendous.
Outstanding service by Christopher!!
Overall not impressed. Had the scallops which were okay - nothing noteworthy, and the Lady Liberty cocktail which was spectacularly terrible. Service was slow, considering they were not especially busy. Extremely overpriced for the experience.
Went for brunch with 3 friends and it did not disappoint. Overall ambience was very nice and there was a live piano player playing as we enjoyed our brunch which just added to overall experience. First and foremost if you go to the George at any time please ask to have Jordan as your server, he is excellent and provided a a very high level of service. Two of us ordered a variation of an eggs Benedict, 1 ordered the George breakfast and 1 ordered the breakfast burrito and we all shared an order of French toast. Everything was very good and we all enjoyed the potatoes that came as a side.
The mimosa and Martha bloody Mary were both great, but I would recommend the Eleanor as a brunch cocktail. It was delicious. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to try the dinner menu.
