The Irving Inn Wine House
This cozy restaurant is a great place for a delicious meal, great service and great drinks. The food never disappoints. The cozy atmosphere of this old house makes dining feel intimate yet, not stuffy. Great place for a date or to meet friends.
I must say it was a disappointing experience. I was there a while back which I thought was great. Today, I had ordered short ribs shepherd's pie and I specifically asked if it was somewhat similar to the braised short rib they have- didn't really expect that the meat was pulled short rib and buried in a 3/4 high mashed potato with hardly any meat at the bottom. I thought it was overpriced. My friend had the pork chop- semi tender, it was okay, mediocre otherwise. The place was cool, it wasn't comfortable to eat, and the only dessert that I would have tried, they didn't have.
What a wonderful dinner! We sat in the upstairs room which was quiet and perfect for our dinner with family and friends. The service was impeccable. We were immediately greeted by Joanie, who immediately made us feel like we were royalty. Cocktails were perfect and all the wine bottle recommendations were excellent. Clearly I cannot say enough great things about dinner.
We will be back!
The food was excellent, the decor and upkeep of the restaurant could use updating. The bar next door is very cool, the restaurant appears a bit dated w the artwork and cases of wine on the floor. But food and people were excellent. We’ll definitely come back.
Great service by Joanie
Craft cocktails were outstanding!
Food was very well made a delicious
This under the radar gem should be on everyone’s go to list!
The Irving Inn was a wonderful, unique experience. The restaurant is small, as if dining in someone's home. The ambiance was cozy... with just 4 tables in the room where we dined. The food was outstanding. The food combinations were interesting and the presentation was pleasing. The starter cheese plate and the desserts were delicious! Make sure to try both!
Our meal and service were very good.
I removed one star strictly because of reservation confusion. It seems if you search “Irving Inn Social” and book a reservation ONLINE, you are automatically seated at the Irving Inn next door. This is not clearly indicated when making the online reservation. I had hoped to be at the Social as I was there with my daughter before a show at UCPAC. Menu is slightly different (fewer items) at the Inn and atmosphere is quieter/more upscale.
The restaurant was initiated and cozy. The service was superb.
It was our first time & we will definitely return.
We have eaten at the Irving Inn several times over the past 5 years or so and have always enjoyed the food. The restaurant is quaint and the waitstaff attentive and personable. However, this trip although the meal was delicious, our visit was marred by the uncomfortably cold room. I understand that it is an old building but a few degrees warmer would have gone a long way in the enjoyment of our meal.
Literally the best service I have had in a long while. The food, amazing perfect portions.
Pretentious and assuming
Another great dinner at Irving Inn Wine House. The chef is amazing! Love the seasonal menu and the different flavors he combines. Can't wait to see what he has in store for the winter menu.
Always an excellent meal. One of my favorite "special" restaurants.
Been meaning to dine at The IRVING Inn for some time and we were not disappointed.
Love the ambiance. It felt like we had a private table!
Service was excellent w a smile!
Craft cocktails and beers were great and delicious.
Apps were incredible. Stuffed cabbage, cheese plate and garlic shrimp - wow!
Mains included Kansas City steak, Pork Chop, Chicken Paillard ans a pasta dish all cooked to perfection and delicious sizable portions!
Split a coconut piece of cake for dessert.
What a great night!
RAHWAY is really coming along as well and we want to try the bar next time!
Great food and service. Will definitely be back.
Excellent ambiance and setting by being seated outside. Food was outstanding and the service excellent. First rate evening. Highly recommended.
Great food and service. Would definitely go back!
All was good but our table was near some chatting people.
excellent food in a great venue
Lawrence is a genius in the kitchen.
Food was delicious. Its a great place however service was slow but maybe the waitress had an off night-she was very graciousand sweet.
Good place to meet people to catch up especially if you haven't seen them in awhile. You can actually hear your table which is fantastic. I think this would also make for a great first date place as well. The food was very good and the service was great.
Food was fantastic, the lamb burger was one of the best I have ever had. Ashley our server was also very attentive and excellent!
Wonderful dinner with the most deliciously prepared combinations of flavors.
The food was amazing! Would definitely go again.
The food and service was absolutely wonderful. As the restaurant filled up it became very loud. So much so we could not have a conversation without leaning in to hear. I would recommend some noise abatement panels. Other than that I highly recommend it.
We loved the historic building and the quiet ambiance inside the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely incredible. From salad to dessert, definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had. My new favorite!
Cauliflower steak is amazing!
Food was great and it was a nice and quiet place. Definitely will go there again
Wonderful experience. Third time there.
Great food options!
Dinner was delicious and the atmosphere was charming. Though a number of tables were filled, conversation was easy and the background music pleasantly low. Service was excellent. I will absolutely recommend your restaurant to my friends and look forward to a return visit soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed a nice meal at The Irving Inn Wine House from start to finish. The cocktails were spot on, specifically the Manhattans and everything tasted very good! Our server was a gem and the intimacy of the restaurant lends itself to a wonderful experience.
The food was delicious, the best meal I’ve had in quite a while. Will definitely go back again.
Very nice place. Quiet in the dining room but noisy in the bar. Food was very good for what I expected. Would absolutely go again especially for hamburger and fries. TASTY.
Lexii is the best, Joanie is a close second
A quaint, lovely setting for a delicious meal. Recently discovered this beautiful dining restaurant and have eaten there three times in the last two months. Never disappointed! Friendly and attentive service and scrumptious food. What could be better!
The Irving Inn is a winner for sure. I dine at many fine establishments in N.J., and they have it down pat. They have someone amazing cooking in the kitchen because everything I have eaten there has been fabulous (and this time the 6 of us ordered almost the entire menu!). The drink and wine menu are approachable, and all mixed drinks were to die for. The service is on point; kind, professional, unobtrusive, and friendly. Lastly, it is a nice looking restaurant with dim lights and a rustic feel, cozy yet romantic enough for a date. I am sure it is no coincidence that the food and service next door at the Irving Inn social was just as spectacular. Try them both. You will not be disappointed!
We had a wonderful experience! Quickly becoming one of my favorites!
Delicious eats, amazingly friendly staff. I really enjoy my visits to the Irving Inn and Irving Social.
