The Ivy Cafe Richmond
I have eaten here previously and was very impressed with the food and service. Came here on Thursday and as expected, the restaurant was very quiet due to the current situation with covid-19. I'm not sure if they were short staffed but I did find the service not quite as good as previous occasions. I ordered the afternoon tea which arrived promptly along with the rest of the tables food, I was not asked at any stage what tea I wanted so after about 10 mins I had to call over the waiter and ask if tea was included. He did apologise and took my tea order. The afternoon tea was a bit disappointing, 2 of the very small sandwiches were a bit dry and the trifle was not the best ive had. Could have done with a bit more savoury to be honest so probably wont order that again. the rest of the food ordered by the table was nice although the steak ordered by my son was a little over done but he didnt want to complain as it was still tasty. I understand its a difficult time at the moment for everyone so we didnt want to make an issue of a couple of small things.
Excellent atmosphere, food and service. Highly recommended.
Great for a special occasion; good, honest British food at its best.
I went for breakfast with my dear friend and the whole experience from start to finish was brilliant, food, Service, ambiance.
Good food, all seemed a bit rushed as it was so busy. Ambience was gorgeous. Such a lovely setting. Would go again.
Really good food, ok service. Quite a lot of tables in a small ish space
I had no complaints on this really pleasant lunchtime visit. The décor is the best thing about the venue- the animal pictures and mirrors are great fun. I ordered the minute steak and fries which was well cooked (peppercorn sauce was excellent). I only wish I'd had room for the chocolate bombe!
The food was not as good as expected. The staff did not inform us that items had run out.
No one asked if we were enjoying / had enjoyed our meals.
Beautiful food, great ambience, polite staff- what more can you ask for ?
The starters, wine and cocktails were very good. Our steaks arrived overcooked though and the server offered to make us a new one. The chicken on my salad was also way over cooked and tough but I was too hungry to wait for a new one so I didn’t complain.
The service was excellent. It was clear they wanted to make sure we were happy. At the end we were given complimentary chocolates and one of our glasses of wine was comped you make up for it. This made us satisfied and we would come again.
Very nice evening for my partners birthday. Would advise to request table by the window.
I’m a huge fan of the Ivy restaurant, so we had a lovely girlie dinner date here. The service and atmosphere was lovely. I love the new spring flower design on the outside of the building and the decor of the inside is just picturesque. The food as always was delicious and the cocktails to die for! Can’t recommend enough.
Always a good service and very comfortable. I really enjoy eating here and would recommend the duck liver parfait and the fish cake because they are my favourite 😊 oh and a glass of champagne helps.
What a treat when the world news is so gloomy to be whisked into a glamorous world of delicious food, great service and buzzing ambiance. Loved everything about The Ivy Richmond and will be returning soon!
Great experience albiet a bit on the pricey side. Lots of effort made to look after at guest. Layout lacks any privacy so the experience may be based on the folk sitting next to you.
Great evening lovely food and excellent service. Just a bit too noisy to chat to each other.
Always a great meal & very good service. See you again very soon. Thanks x
Lovely menu, warm and comfortable atmosphere, friendly well trained staff and great value for money.
The first Msrgarita was so watery I returned it for a proper one
The Ivy Cafe in Richmond never fails to be excellent! Lovely, friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious food and ambience. Look forward to coming to see you on Mother’s Day. Thank you.
Once again a very enjoyable evening with very good meal
Great food and service , loved the live music 🎼👍🎼👍
Enjoyable evening to celebrate a 60th birthday. Arrived at 5.15 pm so we were able to benefit from the set menu: good food and good value. Very good service and pleasant ambience. Nice and quiet at 5 pm but noise level increases as restaurant gets busy and you have to shout across the table at times. Would have liked paper towels in the ladies toilets. Overall very pleased.
An excellent meal.Service from our young Italian waiter (Leonardo?) was superb. A great night out!
My salad had old lettuce leaves. I sent it back and was still charged for this. Not great. I ordered a Pinot Grigio wine bottle at £26 and was given one at £29. Didn’t know till I got the bill. Not great. Service was slow and the place was not busy!!
I have used The Ivy Cafe Richmond on several occasions for dinner on birthdays and brunch with family and friends and have always found it to be a place to fondly remember in all aspects of the quality and delivery of food, ambiance, and service provided. Simply wonderful.
Delicious food and very good service from our waiter.
It was a friends birthday with Madam Butterfly to follow.
We drank champagne whilst making our food choices . The food was excellent and we chose a bottle of Sancerre to accompany.
Excellent service and good quality food. The tea was good value for money and tasted delicious. The waitress was happy to give alternatives if needed and was friendly and polite.
Lovely place for brunch with friends, beautiful interior
The ivy cafe is one of my favourite restaurants, however my last visit was a disappointed in regards to the food. The grilled halloumi main was tiny, the dish said it came with Aubergine but the portion of aubergine was the size of a pound coin, when I brought this up with our waitress she wasn’t bothered, she only said it was mixed with the couscous and didn’t offer to bring some more or replace it with anything else. Disappointing visit
Thanks for a lovely meal.
My husband and I enjoy The Ivy brand as a whole but were a little disappointed on Saturday with our experience.
Unfortunately by the time we ordered, four of your staters had sold out (prawns/salmon/crab) as well as the main course I would have chosen (curry). Opted for the sea bass instead and it was lovely, husband had the steak which he enjoyed.
As restauranteurs ourselves, we appreciate this can happen but on a Saturday of the Six Nations, perhaps a little more planning should have gone in to the ordering from the kitchen side of things.
Not the end of the world as we really did enjoy the food we had and the ambience was excellent. Extra thank you to our waiter, I'm sorry but I cannot remember his name.
The service was really poor , been to a few ivy restaurants, Richmond on a regular basis and this was the worst experience of them all, !! The staff were lovely, but service was really slow , meals came but had to wait for portion of mash and fries for meals etc!
Very very busy and service was rushed as a result. Not a relaxing family meal which we were expecting.
One of our favourite places to come for a treat! Excellent food and service as always.
We went there for afternoon tea. Service and food impeccable. Very pleased with the ambiance.
I had the Ivy’s afternoon tea last Saturday. The food was delicious and the service excellent! Will definitely book it again!
A late booking before the rugby at Twickenham worked well
Excellent service really relaxed atmosphere great food
We have had some great meals at The Ivy Café and Brasseries in London. The food and the service have always been excellent. Sadly our dining experience on Friday at The Ivy Cafe Richmond was really disappointing. The food was good overall (seabass slightly dry ) and the starters were better then the main courses. Prawn cocktail always excellent. However, our waitress was unwelcoming and very curt throughout the evening. No smile, no warmth, no real interest in us and she came across as verging on rude. I have written some really positive reviews in the past of The Ivy and we have always been so impressed with the staff. We were disappointed in the service on Friday and it definitely took the edge of what should have been a lovely night out with friends who we hadn't seen for a year. Overall I would recommend The Ivy restaurants to friends but am more cautious now after this experience.
