The Ivy Castle View
The food was very good but the very loud sound of the music was dreadfull and ruined our evening. Because of this we only had a main course and left as soon as we could. We have been to the ivey several times before and never been aware of the terable music.
The ambiance is lively but elegant and the staff were attentive and friendly.
Absolutely love coming to The Ivy, the service is excellent. The food and drinks are amazing. Would highly recommend!
Great restaurant and lovely location good service would recommend
It was my birthday and the staff were delightful. Very attentive and much more experienced than the Coppa club which I had visited a day before. Really appreciated the happy birthday cup cake. Little touches like these make the Ivy special.
Very enjoyable and thankfully weather was fine. Would not eat indoors as too noisy for us
Superb service and food. Always a pleasure. Buzzy even at 50% capacity.
Best place we had eaten in for a long time. Certainly in Guildford.
Fabulous as always! Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, great service
We thoroughly enjoyed our late breakfast at The Ivy. The food was delicious with quick service by the very attentive staff. It was great to be able to visit The Ivy again after such a long time due to Covid restrictions. Intend to visit again soon.
Amazing staff are so friendly and the experience was fantastic
Love the venue . Unique view always . Love the Ivy service -
Professional , efficient and friendly .
Shame the Coffee was luke warm in the pot and milk ice cold .
Food was good but luke warm . Hot food is important to me
The staff and service at The Ivy Guildford are why it has become so busy and popular for sure - plenty of menu choice, the food is consistently good but the service elevates everything, attentive, swift and super friendly. The male manager with the red hair always goes the extra mile and is clearly in control of the floor. It was so great to be back for the first time post lockdown, thank you.
Wonderful food, great staff, can’t fault anything.
Food good but quite expensive compared to our local 1 star Michelin restaurant. Buzzy atmosphere - quite noisy. Had a sloppy waiter who spilt our water twice and failed to clean the table where some food had been spilt until asked. Also wore his mask below his nose.
Outside, on the balcony was wonderful. Inside is just as nice as all the doors are wide open in fine weather.
The service was terrific. Our waiter was extremely attentive, friendly, helpful and very professional. He overheard some of our conversation and even brought us some surprise treats to the table. He went over and beyond and made our experience a really memorable one. Excellent lunch.
Eggs, smoked salmon and hollondaise sauce… the sauce was too thick and not very warm. The eggs were lovely. Smoked salmon was nothing special.
Lovely ambience for a catch-up with a friend. Food not the priority.
Perfect for a date night ! Very good service, highly recommend.
We had a really lovely meal as a family. With covid in mind the service was incredible and made sure that each and every single person was able to be safe. I can never fault the service at the Ivy in Guildford and the food was yummy as always.
We sat outside and the view was amazing!
The service was good and prompt. Greeted with a smile and very polite staff.
The food is not the best. I think it really depends on which dish you get. Peruvian chicken - super dry, its only saving grace was the sauce that went with it.
The burger, and for what it’s priced for, you’re better off getting it from the real burger places!
The blackened cod, which was the only tasty dish (and worth paying the amount).
Desserts were the best!
Overall, the location and view is what makes this place worth visiting. Food wise, I would probably go somewhere else.
I was there last night for my birthday dinner with my family
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance
Would recommend it
We had an afternoon tea, with sandwhiches, cakes and coffee. At £25 a head we could have expected a better serving experience
A friend and I booked a table on the terrace for 3pm and arrived a bit early. On arrival, it was quite busy (presumably people lingering after lunch) but it quietened down quite quickly. We had the summer cream tea with sandwiches, scones and a tray of exquisite cakes that looked and tasted fab. Service was exceptional. Our very kind waitress helped us move in the middle of our cream tea from a sunny to a shady table because it was so warm. Would definitely recommend the restaurant for a special occasion, and hope to return.
Brilliant experience, as usual. Would recommend to everyone.
A super alfresco lunch in the sunshine.
Can recommend the Peruvian chicken & avocado salad.
Great decor in an interesting, convenient setting. Service and staff very attentive. COVID guidelines adhered to well. However - asparagus was a disappointment in the peak of the season! It was served - cooked well BUT the stems had not been dealt with and were very woody. I should have pointed it out at the time but half of it remained on my plate for the staff to see when clearing the table. Maybe a novice veg chef was unaware that just by snapping the stems ensures only the freshest part of the veg is served.
Excellent venue, food and service - really enjoyable and lively place to eat
This was our first visit to the Ivy as a belated lunch for our golden wedding anniversary in April 2020. The staff were exceptional, (there when needed), and the food was excellent. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Ivy to our friends.
Good range of mocktails and very attentive services. Perfectly cooked fish dishes.
Lovely lunch. Food was fabulous, service friendly and just the right level of attentiveness. I even got a little birthday dessert which was a very special touch. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the view. The restaurant was busy but we never felt over-crowded. Thank you to everyone concerned.
A group of 6 of us visited for brunch on a beautiful sunny day and had a table near the terrace, which had beautiful views of the castle and of Guildford.
The service from staff was a little mixed, some staff were very friendly and efficient, others were somewhat dismissive and preoccupied. We had quite a long wait for our food after the coffee was served and often had to wait to ask for more milk / the bill etc.
The coffee and presentation of cutlery/ plates was lovely, the food was okay. We had the pastries and the kippers. I have had better pastries from Pret (!) and I'm not sure why they serve them with so much butter and jam when there is only 1 bite sized croissant to put the butter and jam on! My partner said the kippers were okay but not great.
I think the experience would have been quite disappointing had it not been for the location / view / glorious sunny day and I'm not sure I'd rush back here again, which is a shame as I think the location gives it great potential.
A lovely relaxing brunch. Service was outstanding, food delicious. Celebrating a joint birthday with a friend we were made to feel very special.
We went for a birthday and had a lovely meal - had a fab table with a view over Guildford too. Some of our items we ordered were forgotten unfortunately, these were taken off the bill though. The food was very good - some were better than others, I wouldn’t rave over the chicken Milanese, the steak tartare was delicious as were the scallops. Our table also had a steak and Peruvian chicken, both were very nice too. Cocktails seemed a little over priced for the amount of liquid you got - the glasses seemed smaller than a standard martini glass. Overall very nice evening, but there’s some areas of improvement. Staff were friendly although our server seemed quite shy and I think this is why some items went missing, as the restaurant was very noisy and she was very quiet - probably miscommunication
Lovely restaurant vibe and food, would definitely go again and something great for special occasions
Very friendly waiter. Shame not to be outside. Lovely food
Food not as good as before. The ambiance is excellent and table 25 and 35 are the best
A restaurant we would highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience once again.
Excellent - As usual. A lovely treat to finally get out and be spoiled.
Food and staff lovely as always. As someone who has Coeliac Disease I only wish they had a separate Gluten Free menu and also offer more GF options as many other restaurants do these days, even pub restaurants.
limited choice for Coeliacs but the food is always good.
