I had an enjoyable evening with friends. It was particularly busy (night before national lockdown #2!) and I don’t think there should have been that many people in the restaurant. However, the food was delicious and the staff were nice. I didn’t like the effort to move us on after 1hr 45. It made the eating so rushed and we felt pressured - I felt kind of sick by the end of the evening having the courses so close together.
Everything was OK but it was a pity we felt so rushed. It's hard to relax and enjoy what one goes to a restaurant for - the food, wine and a friend's or friends' company. We were continually asked how we were 'doing'', usually in the middle of a conversation. This became intrusive and irritating. One of the golden rules of good service is that a waiter waits for the appropriate moment to ask if everything is all right - if he must. Even when it's done with discretion, I find the habit obtrusive. A good waiter or maitre d' should be able to gauge whether customers are happy and being well looked after without having to constantly ask for confirmation like a needy lover. That said, it was clear that the staff were under pressure to conform to Covid rules and cope with the approaching lockdown. In the circumstances they coped very well. As our last hoorah before a month's lockdown however, our dinner was disappointing and depressingly average. None of this would make me not recommend The Ivy Chelsea Garden. It's a lovely restaurant.
A little chilly as doors to garden were wide open
Best Ivy visit yet. The service was top notch. Food is always amazing.
Eating in the garden at The Ivy, Chelsea is one of life’s real treats
We were stuck in the back under an umbrella and basically froze! Otherwise all good.
Very nice staff ,food excellent Nice ambience and good location
I have eaten at this restaurant a number of times, but on this occasion the service was absolutely appalling as they hadn’t made it clear that the table was only for 90 minutes. Consequently, we were harassed around the amount of time we took to order and the staff hovered and were quite aggressive and insistent when the 90 minutes had passed, which was completely unacceptable behaviour. This is a restaurant that I visit a few times a month, but it’ll be a very long time before they have my custom again.
Love this place for a delicious dinner or lunch with friends. I highly recommend it!
Absolutely first class as always. Arrived with one extra person than on the booking and despite restaurant being completely full (2 days before lockdown 2) they managed to fit us in and find a bigger table - thank you! Everything perfect 10/10.
The server kept rushing us to decide, to eat, to pay, to go. The food was cold.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Once we had negotiated our table the evening was great. As usual we were given a table we were not happy with despite requesting either outsider in the glass house or the conservatory and arriving half an hour early. We were initially allocated a freezing cold table outside or a table inside the main restaurant. We spent about 15 minutes discussing this and being told other tables were reserved &c until Pedro waded in and sorted out a perfect table in the centre of the conservatory.
After that initial frustration the evening was brilliant. Really good service (a lovely Korean/Italian waiter) and delicious food. We all had a wonderful evening and the whole restaurant was clearly buzzing. We will come back, and no doubt will end up arguing about table allocation all over again!
Food was not good as it was last year
Both the service and food not as good as it used to be.
We booked a table for three for 645 and from the moment we sat, we were basically hounded to order, eat and leave as soon as possible. We finally had to ask the waiter to stop nagging us as we knew what time we had to give up the table and we were happy to abide by the rules but not happy to be rushed. The main course arrived while we still had the Arancini nibbles. The Arancini were not fresh-- like they had been re-heated in a microwave. It's too bad as they used to be crisp and delicious. The blackened cod was OK but also not as good as it use to be. It was not very warm when it arrived and we felt it had been sitting out too long. We left on time as promised, but what should have been a relaxed and pleasant dining experience was ruined by waiters interrupting us to give us timing updates constantly.
had a lovely experience , beautiful decor and very pleasant staff. the food was delicious too :)
Horrible service, the staff were so rude to us and made no effort to accommodate us and our requirements. They were just too concerned with rushing us out as soon as possible so they could get the next customers in.
Always wonderful service. Lots of choice on the menu, great cocktails, accommodating for the children’s meals. We always have a great time!
It's great if you want to go to a pretty place. But, the food was overpriced and subpar. The drinks are also of small sizes. A regular coke came in a tiny glass bottle that was probably the portion of half a can. And a mocktail was 2 sips. The waiter came off pretentious. Outdoor seating tables are tiny. It hardly has space for 2 plates. Sitting outdoors during winter is not ideal, as they don't have any outdoor heating.
One of my favourite restaurants in Chelsea! Great food and ambience.
Excellent service, food, wine, all high standard. Staff very friendly. Our favourite restaurant on the Kings Road.
As always a nice place to meet friends and enjoy food.
Charming staff and wonderful food. A great pre lockdown brunch
We always enjoyed this restaurant and had a wonderful evening before Lockdown. The food was delicious and the service is impeccable, keep it up
Food and service faultless.
Great service food and service - never fails to achieve the standards it aspires to
Great restaurant for lunch. Good ambience and excellent service. Varied menu and choice of beverages. Would thoroughly recommend
Really great food and atmosphere. Service was excellent too!
Lovely celebratory milestone birthday lunch for my 50th. Would return again.
The Ivy Chelsea Garden is always good, but this time they went beyond expectations. It was wonderful.
Went for a birthday brunch and was looking forward as I like the place and wanted to impress. All was well and we had a good time, and the service was up to what we expected. With regards to the food this was a let down .To start the egg royal had hardly any smoked salmon and the poached eggs where more on the overdone side, we where offered a replacement but as we wanted to say together we decided against. All in all we enjoyed our visit and front of house was very apologetic, but disappointed about the food which makes me think twice to return, after all it’s the whole experience which makes a place.
I have actually emailed you separately about my disappointing experience
Was a lovely meal , Staff were so helpful and very nice and caring , definitely recommend
Great food and service. They did a great job with all the restrictions in place.
Lovely place with great service and delicious food. The decor was beautiful and the place is perfect for special occasions. I would have loved to see more vegan options though.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food. Would definitely go again.
One of my favourite spots in the town but food must be improved:(
Brilliant food, attentive service, perfect atmosphere. A wonderful place to go.
Great place for meal with friends and family. Well done
I thought this would be another over hyped brunch place but it was really great! Our drinks came late so we got them for free, which I didn’t expect. The food was delicious and our waiter was so nice! Definitely recommend the duck parfait. 100% coming back!
