The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Banff Downtown

From entering to exiting, the experience was great as expected and as always we look forward to our next dining at The Keg!!!

Excellent food and service. Staff even called a cab for myself and my partner.

We typically come to the keg for our anniversary dinner. We were delighted when the keg still had reservation spots open because we couldn’t get in anywhere else. Our reservation was at 9pm, we got there and were told our table wasn’t ready yet. It wasn’t until 9:20 that we were finally sat. When we were greeted, we were told that they were running out of menu items, 5 in total at that time, 2 of them being things we were planning on ordering. We love the twice baked potato and that is one of the reasons we come to the keg. By the time the server took our order, which felt rushed, when we chose our starter which was not one of the items he had said was out but it was now out, our second choice just ran out too. Went for the scallops and bacon which was still good. We just got our entree dinner (it was very quick!) and were told that it was last call at 9:50.. our first drinks were still pretty full. We were a little bummed out that again we were so rushed. Our server was still pretty engaging and we liked the service from him. We do enjoy the keg and will come back but didn’t have the best experience that we normally do.

Sent my steak back as it was not cooked to what was requested and the second one came back pretty much the same as the first. One other customers dinner that I was dining with was not hot.

The service was fantastic. Our server was genuine, fun and friendly... a rarity these days. We make sure to stop by this location in particular as the Prime Rib here is next level. I know it sounds strange, maybe it’s the altitude, but the Prime Rib here is better than at the Keg in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Furthermore, this particular location somehow beats the second location closer to to entrance of Banff. I can’t explain it but just do yourself a favour and treat yourself to something special here, you won’t regret it.

Had booked two tables separately for 4:15 arrived at 4pm restaurant was empty host was angry we had made two separate reservations and told us we were seated on separate floors. I can’t imagine how difficult it would have been to find two tables near each other in a near empty restaurant. Also waitress and hostess physically blocked my 14 year old daughter from coming over to my table. Experience overall was terrible.

Pecan Sirloin should be a regular menu item, not just a seasonal special. Fantastic, but don't bother with the little container of sauce, which is not very good.

Celebrated my birthday there. I had steak and lobster. The lister was a tad underdone, but overall good. Steak was perfect.

Special dinner with visiting relatives who don’t get to enjoy our Alberta beef ! Service was perfect .. altho MEdium steak came out more like medium rare/rare, they were quick to get it done right

Eloped in Banff and picked the Keg for our wedding dinner. Amazing food and the service is fantastic!!

Great overall experiences!

Experienced the worst service I have had at a Keg. The waiter was putting in time and it clearly showed. Should have gone to the Caribou Keg, as one can almost guarantee a better experience than the downtown Keg.

Quick service and the food was great as always!

My prime rib steak was tough and tasteless.
It’s sad to see a large chain like The Keg serve up a low grade meal.
Not to mention that the cutlery was worn out and dull.
Very poor Keg.
I hope the manager reads this and learns something.
Not coming back soon.

Old décor in serious need of an update. Food was great as was the service. Table was a little small for our tastes but overall not bad at all.

It's a chain restaurant so you can't expect too much. You pay an ok price for a decent steak. The only issue was one of the diners had to send back her steak because it was overdone and it took too long to rectify it. Also no apology or bill deduction was offered which was unusual for this kind of error.

COVID is the only reason this wasn’t the best atmosphere, but all in all very good

Meal was good and service was good to start with. Bigger groups came in so we were forgotten.

Birthday dinner - food was excellent, nice wine and our server was very attentive. The Keg never fails to deliver!

We enjoyed the summer patio on Banff Ave. Our server Patrick was exceptional.

Overcooked steak and rubbery seafood. The server sais amazing and sympathetic. Not good value.

Food was definitely not cooked fresh. Our meal came out within 10 mins or ordering it. My mashed potatoes were cold. Everything tasted off. I am a big fan of the keg but this was definitely my worst experience there. Was instantly sick after.

We were upstairs & found the ambience is quite a bit less than you’d expect in a Keg. Good spot for a casual night out & great food but I wouldn’t recommend (upstairs at least) for a special occasion.

There was no hand soap in the washroom when i went. Also out of a lot of food that i came to this restaurant for.

The food was delicious as always. However the service was not great compared to our experiences at the Crowfoot location in Calgary. There, our servers are kind and courteous, and are always exceptional. Usually we only go to the Keg for special occasions and typically the servers ask right away if we are celebrating something and then offer a dessert or drink on the house (not expected but we really appreciate it). This time, our server Ryan seemed not only disinterested, he was cold and uninviting. He actually never introduced himself, we learned his name from the table next to us, who he was very chatty with and carried on long conversations with while we waited for him to come over the first time because we didn’t get a drinks menu. Overall, he seemed to not care that we were there and we felt very unwelcome.

Mediocre service

Was in Banff as part of a three day birthday celebration. Great place for dinner. Service was excellent, food was good… Everything you’d expect from the keg. Overall a good experience and a definite recommend.

Food is always excellent and very consistent between The Keg locations as is the atmosphere. The service in particular, the waiter, was not very helpful or attentive throughout the evening which was disappointing; however, we still enjoyed our evening.

Portions are small for the price paid. Otherwise, great drink menu and food was delicious, kind of sad that they do not serve gravy for mashed potatoes/fries, but food was delicious still.
