The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Richmond South
Food taste good as usual, Chasta really do a great job to keep everybody happy.
We were seated in the lounge even though we made a reservation. We would have preferred the dining area but no choice given.
Server was great but food took a long time to arrive and appetizers were too well done. Main was ok but also took too long to arrive.
Excessive noise from patrons in bar area also made conversation difficult.
Definitely not a repeat.
At first our impression was absolutely not great, the hostess who greeted us and gave us a table didn't treat us well, we have made a reservation therefore we expected to have a good table and she gave us
a table out on a corner totally empty no cutlery no nothing empty, I don't like to complaint but at the time I felt disrespected. Thereafter they gave us another table and we started to enjoy our time and our dinner with a great service from our waitress.
Server was great! Food was good
One of the worst for the Keg business. The Prime Rib was really dry when it's being served and looks like it had been sitting at the kitchen for hours. Only 1 server taking care of the whole Section. Would recommend going to other Kegs...
Great food and service. Sadly they had the curling game on while the Canucks were playing.
For dependable quality steak, the Keg is always my choice. Ambience good and service good. However, that’s that.
Having been born and raised in this city I’ve been dining at this location for more than 30years. I hadn’t been to a Keg for some time as my last few visits had been disappointing. I received a $100 gift card and made a reservation on Open Table at this location for date night. Our hostess took us around the corner to the back of the restaurant that clearly screamed for OPEN TABLE reservations. The room, ambiance and lighting was comparable to what I remember of a random visit to Ricky’s and made Whitespot appear to be fine dining. The peppercorn steak although cooked properly had a thick layer of whole peppercorns that had to be scraped off to find the steak. My sirloin oscar was overcooked, the twice baked potato came four times baked and the vegetables looked like they were an after thought. I will say this. The manager was completely understanding and validating. Unfortunately while waiting for the kitchen to prepare me a new steak my partner shared his meal with me and I couldn’t enjoy mine when it came . My steak was removed from our bill and we we received a piece of mud pie on the house. I’m giving this location 2 stars due to being stuck in a corner and the lack of care the kitchen staff has.
Iceberg lettuce salad forgotten. Wrong price on bill for lobster tails. Server very personable
Escargot very good,
Shrimp cocktail awesome,
Tuna tartare unbelievably good,
Caesar salad missing bacon bits,
Scallop can be bigger in size,
Bread is warm/hot,
Pair with Italian Masi, nice.
It was the best dinner experience in this 10 years. Nice and quiet environment with good service. Will come back soon.
Good food and services. But the interior looks quite old in comparison to other Keg locations.
They weren't busy, but we were seated after several walk ins came in after us (with larger groups and groups the same size as us), even though we'd made a reservation. Everyone at our table ordered steak, ranging from medium rare to medium well, but they handed us the wrong steak. Unfortunately, it wasn't immediately identified, and we're always nervous to inform serving staff of an error like that (plus, we were way too hungry to wait for a new steak to be served). Would I return to this location again? Yes. Would it be my first choice for a Keg location? NO.
Had a problem with filet not being cooked enough.
Management of the Keg in Richmond responded immediately and corrected the situation.
Astonished at the level of customer commitment exhibited by the manager.
Absolutely will be back for more.
All I can say about the Richmond Keg management is WOW.
My boyfriend and I reserved the keg for our valentines dinner. We were able to place and receive our order within a reasonable amount of time. Our initial waitress was a bit odd. She would talk at us opposed to talking to us. I asked for recommendations and she seemed very unknowing and not too favorable of the menu herself. For whatever reason, after we placed our appetizers order, we never saw her again and she was replaced with a waiter. He had a much better personality, seemed to enjoy his job, and made sure we had a pleasant experience. I feel like the quality of the food has gone a bit downhill, my salmon was overcooked and very dry. However my boyfriends meal was to his liking, and our appetizers were satisfactory. Mine was a bit cold. Overall, it was a great Valentine’s Day, but I feel there’s definitely room for improvement, especially considering the price for the items on the menu.
First impression was that the location in Richmond was quite dated. I have recently visited The Keg in downtown Vancouver and it has a much nicer ambiance, newer and looked more like a "high end" steak house, which is what I expect from The Keg. My husband has a severe shell fish allergy, which we noted to the waitress. She spoke to the kitchen and then came to inform us that they cannot ensure there will not be any cross contamination of the food, did he want to order something else, like chicken. The waitress wasn't rude, but she also wasn't showing any understanding or compassion to the limitations that we were now facing coming to a steak restaurant where my husband couldn't order a steak. At this time we asked to speak to the manager. The manager came to speak to us, she was much more helpful and understanding. She explained to us that the shell fish and steaks are cooked on the same grill, but are separate, yet this was no guarantee that there wouldn't be cross contamination with the food, the chef was hesitant to cook the steak on the same grill even if cleaning the area in advance and using separate utensils. The manager suggested that his steak be cooked in a pan/skillet. All in all, his steak was still very good but not at all what was expected. A shell fish allergy is not uncommon and all the times we go to restaurants (even The Keg downtown) we have never been made to feel that his allergy was of such a large inconvenience. For my dinner, I don't eat red meat so I ordered the lobster tail as an add on with french fries and a side salad. I was charged for a lobster tail dinner ($12 more than it being an add on, though the waitress said it was an add on item) and the french fries were cold and looked like McCain fries, not steak restaurant fries. I was expecting crispy shoestring fries. The salad looked way better than it tasked. It was very ordinary, something that I would make at home to serve my kids, and very bland. Way way over priced.
As Kegs go, this location is totally lacking in ambience and personality. The foyer is packed to the point you have to PUSH your way through the people. There is not enough seating for the often hours long wait for a table and the pagers only work as far as the parking lot. There is a covered area outside that could have benches but you wouldn’t want people to be too comfortable...
The food is good as you’d expect and the service is good, but if I’m paying 30 bucks a plate and up, I’d like calm atmosphere and less noise.
Always good food and good service!
The food and pina coladas were delicious as always and our server Olivia went out of her way to make sure we had the perfect evening. Great food and friendly and attentive service on a busy night.
It was a nice time
Great service, server was super friendly. Reservation was awesome we got our table few minutes before our reservation time. Food tastes great like always. I don't expect anything less from the keg! Girlfriend loved it we had a fantastic Valentine's dinner
The food is tasty，it is a little bit noisy at lounge bar area.
Very busy for 6 pm on a sunday, but the food & service were quite good. I find a little
on the pricy side for the serving size.
Good was good. Not cheap. Took a bit too long.
The Keg Steak Restaurant Richmond is ideally located on No.5 Road, Richmond. It is easily accessed and found. The parking lot is spacious and lighted. We reserved a table for 4 persons. although we arrived the restaurant ten minutes prior to our reserved time, our table was ready for us. WE were well greeted by the staff at the reception front desk. Our waitress were nice and friendly. she carried with her a lot of smiles while serving us throughout the dinner. The dishes were tasty. We overall enjoyed the dinner with starters, entrees and desserts.
The food was great as always, the service was pretty good, the music really ruined it for us. A nice cozy atmosphere, trying to have a romantic night out and they were playing loud pop in your face sort of music that should only be played in the back room if that's what the staff want to listen to.
Good service and foods are good
Overall we enjoyed the dinner. Mushroom soup was cold and dessert (mocha ice cream) was not as enjoyable as I had it before. Almost like it was sitting in the open (not in the freezer) as dessert was not frozen.
Went to keg for the dine out experience and I guess because it busier? The quality of the food just isn't as good as usual. I would not come back for dine out and come back during regular time instead.
Our server Amanda was very helpful and polite. Because of her personality it made our dining experience enjoyable.
We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The food and service was great. Only negatives were that the server didn’t bring water for our daughter and no Billy Miner pie even though it was her birthday.
Went for dine out, had the caesar, prime rib with baked potato and billy miner's pie... they were good portion for the price of $45.
The place has potential, our server were very nice. but I would avoid going here during Dine-out Vancouver. The restaurant was over-crowded and the kitchen and servers didn’t seem to be able to keep up; therefore, the quality of the food and service really suffered. My stomach was not a happy camper overnight.
My experience at the keg was 4 out of 5 stars. I always love the food. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The topping of the salmon (pistachio, I recall?) was not needed. The salmon would have stood on its own with light seasoning. I would say that the sound level was a bit high, though. Noise from adjacent tables is expected but at times I could not hear my friends. Perhaps more sound baffles or increased spacing or different orientations of the tables might improve this. Overall, I would happily recommend the keg.
The server we had was exceptional - he is really easy to talk to, charismatic and was quick on his feet.
The reason we had to provide 3 stars overall is due to the following:
- Prime rib was more rare than medium rare
- Top Sirloin steak was really tough - it came medium rare but it seemed like the kitchen had an issue/mishap when searing/cooking the steak since there was a 3rd of it charred on one side which we cut off
We would have asked for another steak/prime rib but we were seated with a bigger room hosting a corporate event with around 40 people and getting our server seemed difficult and we had already waited a bit for our food - didn't want to wait longer than we had to. This could very well have been our mistake but under the circumstances - it didn't seem possible with the fact each employee of the other table were paying seperately for their bills.
I have come to this keg in the past and was blown away like other keg branches - but this time, it let me down and I believe I will just stick to the one in Burnaby since that one is top notch!
We always love going to The Keg in Richmond South. So when Dine Out Vancouver started, we knew we wanted to be here. The place was packed and there was a line up, good thing we made a reservation ahead of time. Our server, Spencer J, was very accommodating. He was extra attentive and got all our orders right away. Service was fast for a full house and he made sure we have everything we need. The great food and service will keep you coming back. So, if you're craving for a good steak, it's the best time to be here because the Dine Out Vancouver menu is definitely worth it!
Food was everything expected, high quality and perfectly prepared. Our server Lindsay went above and beyond with her attention to detail. She thought I was missing food item and had it replaced before I had even started to eat the meal.
I don't know if it's because they're so busy due to Dine out but the steaks were not as good than they usually are. It was dry and tough (medium rare) and not as flavourful. Ambience wasn't good because we were seated at their family/kids' area. Service was so-so. It was a disappointing experience.
Although you are excellent at steaks, escargot arrived in a hot dish but ingredients were only warm. Seafood medley smelled fishy and aspargus had gone to seed and was limpy. Spoke to manager and rec'd comp dessert but whole meal experience was not up to what we usually experience at this Keg. Service was very quick.
Great Food, please allow more time to eat the appetizer before serving the Main Course. My Main Corse Peppercorn steak was delivered 30 seconds after my Bacon wrapped scallops. I had to asked my server to return the Steak to the kitchen to keep warm, he did and returned when I finished the appetizer. Great food.
