The Rooftop at The Light Brigade Hotel

Fabulous small bar ..ideal for meeting a friend for an after work sundowner...pizzas are good ...best to book !

Some of the staff were lovely but the more senior staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful speaking to all of our group in an incredibly condescending tone of voice.

Further to that, my friend and I both ordered a rare steak. We were given well done steak. We kindly asked for this to be redone and the waiter sorted this quickly however the second steak we were given was also well done. Not even medium, it was well done.

I appreciate the mistake the first time but how can the mistake be made a second time? We ate it so as not to waste more food but I was not impressed with this and the service over all which is a shame as it is a lovely venue which I had been looking forward to going to for a long time.

First of all there was an error with our booking and the staff did not try to accommodate us and got our backs up straight away as they did not deal with myself and my friends in the best way. I understand there was an error with the booking but there was no middle ground or they weren’t that bothered about helping us out. We then ordered food and the steak was over cooked and after waiting nearly an hour for some food, the gnocchi was burnt. The staff did assist and refunded this meal but it’s not what you want when you go out for a meal with friends.

I'm always opting for well ventilated venues during Covid and the rooftop was perfect. The staff were friendly and Covid Safe aware. Overall a good choice

For a group of 12 people to be eating dinner around a very small coffee table which would have only just accommodated 4 people, it was quite an intimate affair and included a lot of lap eating = awkward. The view from the rooftop is/was spectacular but not viewable from where we sat on low chairs. The different seating options were insane actually - we had a combination of super tall bar stools, low couches, very low metal chairs, medium height stools. It was all very mad hatter Alice in Wonderland. Overall it was an enjoyable night but next time I'd prefer a dinner table with normal chairs and out of the way of big noisy groups. The chicken snitty was excellent. The happy hour drinks were great value but having to go down to the ground floor each time was a bit much for many in our elderly group.

We were looking forward to an evening out at the pub yet when we arrived were told our table had been given up. Which left us without a booking for the evening.

I loved the look and service of this bar, but no music was played which made it very awkward.
I highly suggest that some background music should be played.
It was awkward hearing other groups conversations

Great venue for a sunny evening, 1.5 hrs is too short to enjoy yourselves properly

Reservation was not fulfilled. We were turned away as there is a “flaw” in the system that overbooks the space...so the booking system is pointless. I could book a table for 2 weeks time and show up for this to happen again. Hope you resolve this

Great rooftop area and good value for money food.

I know that you’re probably not allowed music on the roof top but it would make a nice addition if you were allowed to have it.

There was No background music Playing which made it feel ever more empty and not as great ambience.

A great spot, meals were great value as we went on a Tuesday and there was a 2 for 1 offer- I had the chicken salad and it was great!

Absolutely no service

Always a great feed and nice to be back, safely social distanced so I didn’t feel uncomfortable.

Terrible service, booked rooftop which was then closed which is understandable due to weather, however bar manager was extremely rude and even when the rooftop opened told us we would be the last to go up there even tho we had a booking. Nothing like the experiences I’ve had before here

What a spot! Stunning rooftop to enjoy beers in the sunshine. The staff were incredible and the food was delicious. Couldn’t fault our visit. Highly recommend!

The restaurant did not have my reservation. It was lucky that they had availability when I got there.

I requested to book a table on the rooftop about 10 days before my reservation with a large group and was told that I had no choice when I arrived but to be seated in the downstairs Bistro. This was disappointing considering the significant advance of the booking. I then went up to the rooftop a few hours later only to see a few small groups and be told we could stay for half an hour as there was another reservation arriving. All in all, frustrating and we would have gone elsewhere on a sunny day.

Great value, great food and cosy atmosphere on a Wednesday night

Would definitely recommend - rated lower on food only because my burger wasn't done very well (thats what you get when you order the dinner special, they'd be churning them out!) Other people's food was very good though. Good vibe, nice staff, good sporting pub!

The venue and the service was great. The burgers were just average and we were glad that they were on special that night- otherwise would have been disappointed with the price. Overall, reasonable pub grub in a nice venue.

Great service around Safety for social distancing

After receiving confirmation of booking I clicked on Menu which showed 4 or 5 entrees and main courses + a Pizza Menu. When we arrived there was only a Pizza menu. Disappointing! Service was not great, had to ask a few times.

Great food, love the pizzas and focaccia! Great wine selection of any variety. Friendly and very welcoming waiters and manager. Will definitely becoming back

Father's Day special was advertised to me by email so we decided to book. Upon arrival we checked in and asked if we could sit on the rooftop, was told "sure". Secured a table and settled in, only to be booted downstairs after 5 mins because children under 18 not allowed on rooftop. Hmm, not a great start. Went back down stairs, basically the whole restaurant had been booked out for a rugby function, so our table was right in front of the kitchen, with walkie-talkies blaring as staff communicated between themselves. Ambiance sucked. No one approached the table so after 15 mins we asked if we could get a drink or a menu, and we were told "sure, you order over there". Nice of them to tell us! By now we had a good feeling for the place. Then the rugby function kicked into gear with speaker, awards and microphone blaring. Lunch was like a bad joke, cost $151 for the family and was a terrible venue to celebrate Father's day. Not recommended.
