    The service, from beginning to end, was frightful. There was no one at the welcome point and I stood for a long time. Drinks came at different times and then no-one around for me to pay the bill. For such a beautiful venue, this is a great shame.

    Not a fan of this tea service. Pros The lobby lounge is beautiful The food / tea/ champagne was delicious Cons I was seated in a room with a table of 8 having lunch so it seems the venue is mixed with lunch customers, so that took the charm out of the tea experience. I felt like I was just having a more expensive lunch than everyone else. My server did accommodate a request for more finger sandwiches- but seemed to disappear so I kept having to ask the beverage server for things. I was going to ask for another pot of tea, but my server never showed up. I had to leave my table to pay the check at the host stand. I felt forgotten in the side room. I probably wouldn’t do tea again here. I would either choose lunch with a pot of tea in the same restaurant or have tea at the nearby Westin. The Westin has a nice tea service that I would revisit if given the choice.

    So disappointed with our afternoon tea. Definitely not the experience we have had before. The food was fine, but nothing special nor was it as fresh as we are used to. No atmosphere in the lobby today. Service was fine, very pleasant but staff hard to find when we needed something. The lobby was by no means full but there seemed to be a lull in staff on floor, but there was plenty when we left. This is the 2nd meal I’ve had in 2 weeks at The Intercontinental and standards are definitely not as high as they used to be. It’s a real shame as the hotel is beautiful, but for the price, it’s hard to justify.

    We really enjoy the experience at the Intercontinental lobby. Unfortunately our waitress on this occasion kept forgetting to come back to us following simple request , such as a jug of water and vinegar.. the last straw was giving us a dessert menu and the coffees and not coming back until we had asked another waiter to come a give us the bill after 20 mins with no show from the waitress … It was otherwise an excellent meal in lovely surroundings

    It was a very convenient no fuss place to eat .., a nice oasis in the middle of the city . Food is good , service is very good , and you can talk with your guests as the ambience is quiet .

    I was quite disappointed with the service I received during my recent visit on 7 April 2023. While I had high expectations for the experience based on my previous visit, the incidents that occurred during my most recent visit have left me feeling dissatisfied and concerned. Firstly, despite the fact that I had confirmed with thr staff about my dietary requirements to have two beef and two chicken sandwiches, I was served three chicken and one beef sandwiches instead. When I asked the waiter about it, he told me that there were not enough beef sandwiches, yet 15 minutes later, the manager offered me two beef sandwiches. This inconsistency in communication and service was unacceptable and left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Additionally, I noticed that the shot glasses that contained the Earl Grey flavor dessert had some stains on the glass that looked like ashes and could be wiped away inside. When I raised my concern to the waitress, she took the desserts away and consulted with the kitchen. She then told me that the black stuff was from tea lights and had been washed a couple of times and would not impact the food. However, this explanation did not satisfy me as I was concerned about the cleanliness and hygiene of the glasses. Overall, my experience at the restaurant did not meet my expectations, and I was left feeling disappointed with the service. I believe that a five-star restaurant should uphold higher standards of communication, service, and cleanliness, and unfortunately, my recent visit fell short of these standards.

    I very regularly eat here and really do enjoy, however I went with my parents last night and my mother has quite a plain/restricted diet for medical reasons and they were not able to accommodate a very simple ask. Most places are able to accommodate, however when we asked for a plain piece of grilled chicken we were told there was none left, and chicken is really the only meat she can eat. I asked about the Caesar salad that has grilled chicken on offer with it to be told it’s different, which makes me wonder if the grilled chicken is actually freshly cooked or bought in pre chopped in a bag. My mother had little to nothing to eat in the end and as it was later in the evening we had no choice but to stay and eat there. We have another reservation there in 2 weeks for a family meal, which I will be cancelling and have already requested a reservation elsewhere. Really disappointing as I really enjoyed it there.

    Every year we do afternoon tea as a birthday tradition. The afternoon tea here was very average. Staff busy and less attentive versus others like the Shelbourne. Was told no cloakroom, that they would ‘find somewhere’ to put out coats. Asked for an extra sandwich and they forgot, not great really

    Very poor experience. We have enjoyed afternoon tea in many premium hotels and therefore have an expectation to the standard of food and service expected in such a venue. A couple of items on the tray were stale, the waitress did not check on us and not once topped up our teas and it took me 20 minutes to request the bill.

    Probably the worst AFT experience - I placed a note on my booking for basic dietary requirements, restaurant rang to confirm but in the day they completely messed it up despite me explaining for the 3rd time. I mean basic! The manager then got stroppy with me?! It was my friends birthday and she was aghast at the service. Then the food.... arrived wrong! we asked for another sandwich (as the cakes were awful) abd they told us it would cost another 13e p.p! Wow.... Having been to many AT worldwide, I've never ever experienced this poor service and attitude. Save your money and go to a proper 5 star hotel for the same price.

    A get together between us friends, it has been awhile with the pandemic and among other things. We are all nurses, so it’s hard to meet up between shifts and in moments like these. A peaceful and cosy environment plus there’s more Christmas decorations that we loved to see and take pictures on. The food is always nice and the staff are always the best.

    My friend and I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch in the Lobby Lounge. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and there was a lovely atmosphere. Lots of families and small groups meeting before Christmas. Just the right amount of noise , happy chats and people enjoying themselves. The service was excellent and the staff are to be congratulated on their attentiveness and pleasant manners. The food was perfect for a light lunch but with lots of choice if something more substantial was required. Also the price was correct for the overall setting . Well done to the hotel and we will be back.

    We enjoyed our food and the waiter, Valentin was fabulous. However, we found the Lobby Lounge quite cool. We had to move from the glass and sit more towards the centre. Unfortunately each time the outside main door to the hotel opened we got a blast of artic air.

    We had booked for a Christmas Tea. Somehow this got mixed up and while we had a table, we didn’t have any teas reserved. Unfortunately, half our party was sick so we were fewer people than booked. We were sat and then nobody came to take our order until we flagged someone down 30 minutes later. The drinks didn’t come at the same time. As for food, we originally told one tea was left so we decided to get it for the table. Then we were told there wasn’t one. Then, oh wait there was! But it was “incomplete” so they wouldn’t serve it. Then it arrived at the table. Overall the food was fine. Just fine. We were never offered water. The plates weren’t cleared until the very end. Honestly, nothing was right. It wasn’t a nice experience and I honestly have no desire to go back. Positives: very nice setting and pretty Christmas decorations.

    Had a great time visiting Lobby Lounge. Food was excellent so many thanks are in order for chef Alberto and his team. Service was excellent! Gabriela and her team looked after us very well. Delighted with the experience. Coming back soon!

    We had requested a table in the Reading Room and were given a lovely table beside the fire. It was absolutely perfect and we really enjoyed our Anniversary celebration lunch. The staff at the Intercontinental are very attentive and friendly and the food is delicious. Thank you.
