Delightful to arrive and find we were in a room all to our own.
It worked great as we had out of town relatives to catch up with and they loved the Irish Pub.
Our waitress was superb and so kind, patient and helpful.
Thanks
Burger and shepherd's pie were excellent. Service was friendly. Great location to make downtown shows.
Dad and daughter dining!
The Local has become my "go to" lunch place in downtown Minneapolis.
My husband and I had an enclosed room with lots of ambiance. The restuarant had at least 3 vegetarian dishes to choose from. The food was very good
This place was phenomenal. Have to do the chicken appetizer with honey. Unreal.
Loved the Wee menu - just the right size for lunch.
The restaurant was virtually empty, but our party waited a long time for the food to arrive. When it finally did, my husband's meal was cold; it almost appeared as though they had started preparing the order, but part of it was forgotten and everyone's meal was held back. Two of us had ordered the quinoa salad - the flavor was just off, the ingredients just didn't blend well together. Only one person in our party of four appeared to enjoy their meal, which was the fish and chips. Thank goodness an Irish Pub could get the fish and chips right.
Amazing staff and food! If I could give 10 stars, I would!! Will definitely be back, everyone was so friendly and the outdoor patio was great. Excellent service all around, thank you for such a great experience!
Lovely to eat outside Food was good. Light menus which I line
Great service and excellent food. The quinoa burger was delicious, as was the Ahi tuna salad. Will be back again.
We had a good experience but it took our server a little while to warm up for us and three people at our table were all drinking the same thing and they ran out of it, which was disappointing.
We were going to the evening's Sommerfest concert at Orchestra Hall. It was the hottest night of the year! But we had a little cubby toward the back of the restaurant, where it was cool and quiet. The food was awesome, except for our friend's brie and blueberry salad; it was the tough greens that didn't measure up. Our friend mentioned t his to our very personable server, and a few minutes later, Donny, the manager, popped in, sat down at the 4th chair, and asked what could have been better. We had a really good chat with him (we know several people in common), and when we got our bills, our friend was not charged for that salad. This is the kind of customer service that keeps people coming back, year after year. The Local has never disappointed us! Please, please be there forever!!!
Excellent reservation service and communication with host. Classic Irish Pub with outstanding decor! Quality of food and service was excellent, with only exception being some long intervals between checks for drink refills. We felt very welcome and valued as customers!
We were on a break from an event booked at the convention center and had 1.5 hours to eat. We arrived early for our reservation but waited 45 minutes for our food - had to eat and run. It wasn’t really busy and most of us ordered off the lunch menu or had a salad...
Our wait staff were prompt and friendly without being overly friendly. They are to be applauded for the distance they have to carry the food from the kitchen to the diners. The food was excellent. The restaurant itself was unique, quaint and clean.
We were able to get in on short notice and the experience was great!
Way overpriced for what you get. Drinks also had no alcohol.
Our brunch was tasty but cold. The service was nice!
Met some friends for an early dinner on a Saturday. The location is right on the trendy Nicolett Mall, and has a authentic feel of an Irish Pub. Dining both inside and on the sidewalk. The staff is friendly and high energy. We dined inside and were delighted by the "Old World ambience. Service was great and food came relatively quickly. My guess said Shepard's Pie is very good, my husband had the Meatloaf, which he said was "unremarkable". I had the Salmon was was very good. Our table shared a basket of fries and mushroom flatbread, which were both awesome! Wine list is average, the beer list has a decent range, but isn't as large as you would think for a "pub". Close parking is available in the Target ramp (across the street and we paid $6 for 3 hours). We were there in the early evening (5:30pm), and the place was nice and quite. As we were leaving (around 7pm), the place was crowded and happily noisy. Overall, we would definitely recommend for a evening out with friends.
Our server was very nice, but very busy. She was one of two servers on the patio. There were quite a few people there, but there were still quite a few open tables as well. We were coming from a conference as were about half of the other people on the patio. This was the third day of the conference and a Saturday so the restaurant should have been prepared to be busy. We had to wait to order when we were ready because the server wasn't ready for us, and then we waited over 40 minutes for our food and then had to rush to eat. I would recommend this for good Irish food, but not if you don't have a leisurely amount of time.
We were a bit disappointed this time around. While I was happy to see the meatloaf return to the menu, it was not on the same level as the previous meatloaf offering. Our server was less experienced than the others we have had (Betze, Thomas, Jessica, Brian). I think she needs a bit more seasoning.
All is good here except the noise level. We had an alcove which should have helped but the noise level from the bar crowd was unbelievably loud.
I did like the server, the food and the general ambience, but did not like the noise level. It was very hard to converse. If I was 50 years younger and out to meet my friends - and if I had the great hearing I had at 20- I would probably find it quite wonderful. It would be nice if you had an area where people like me could find a little more quiet space for talking with a dining companion.
What a great place. I hit up The Local every time I pass through Minneapolis. Had the opportunity to meet Peter this last time in and he couldn’t be a nicer guy.
I’ll be back!
Eat outside; it was great.
My two friends enjoyed their meals; mine was mediocre this time. It was the grilled pear, brie and chicken -- however, the chicken was left off and when it came was not grilled...kind of pre-packaged taste. The wild rice was extremely dry and the raspberries were absolutely dry. Not appealing.
I will keep coming, but will NOT order this salad. I love the tables and the nooks. Extremely noisy, but lots of fun.
The band was very loud, but when we commented they brought the volume down! Awesome!
We were seated right away (with a reservation). Service was quick, and the food was delicious. Got done eating and got the bill with plenty of time to get to the theater for our show that evening.
The food and service was absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommend The Local.
At first I was not happy. I booked my reservation through OpenTable with notes and still got sat at a bar table, with 6 of use dressed up expecting a booth. Once seated the staff took notice and began to rectify the situation. We were quickly seated at a different table, in a booth. Not by ourselves but the jester was well received that they tried on a busy Saturday night.
Moral of the story is call, don't use this service
We were seated in a side room much like a Rathskeller and the noise level was unbearable
The hotel concierge recommended The Local to us, claiming outstanding food and atmosphere. The building is beautiful but incredibly noisy. The wait staff were barely on task, offering just the minimum expected. I ordered the pot roast, which was good (not excellent), but my husband ordered the Mac & cheese and it was a disappointment. No seasoning, no cheese, just pasta with peas and peppers. We’ll try another place next time we’re in town.
Mellow environment, good food, good service. I’d go back sometime!
Mostly because of location. Everything else was just ok.
The food, service, and atmosphere was absolutely excellent!! We will be back for sure!!
Food was great, service was great. Solid place for our business lunch.
I tried the chicken curry and it was delicious and the side hot sauce and chutney was super great.
Awesome restaurant. Great staff and food. Wonderful decor
Great food! Service was awesome. Our party of 7 arrived to our table ready. We will be back !
