The Manor at Silo Falls
Beautifully renovated, the crab cakes were on point and the service was top notch. We had a great time
Mediocre. A nice looking building on the outside, but disappointing food. We went for Sunday brunch. The restaurant was not especially busy, but we waited almost 10 minutes for a hostess to appear at the greeting station - and only after a manager shouted out "Can I get a hostess up front?" The brunch buffet looked about the same quality as the complementary breakfast at an average hotel chain. Omelette station and roast beef looked good, but nothing else especially appealing in the 8 or so covered chafing dishes. Most were soaked in creamy or other sauces, bacon looked soggy and sausage looked like frozen patties. Also the buffet is located in a huge, open, unattractive, banquet-like room. We sat in a smaller front room near an artificial gas fire place and ordered a la carte - eggs Benedict and huevos rancheros. Both were just ok. We probably won't go back unless we are again looking for the only restaurant in Olney that isn't in a strip mall.
The meal was great! Took awhile to get seated because the host wasn’t available. They couldn’t find our reservation, which was strange, but overall, enjoyed the meal!
Very knowledgeable staff and relaxing but special ambiance
Very good good - great variety! Happy hour is awesome
Great food and atmosphere. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so that we can sit outside on the deck and patio.
Beautiful setting. Food was mediocre.
This was our second Brunch at The Manor at Silo Falls, and it was as good as the first visit. The food was good, the wait staff was ok, but the music made it extra relaxing.
We'll be back again.
The food was delicious, service is outstanding and the ambiance was wonderful! We sat by the gas fireplace...so cozy!
First and foremost, I don't mind spending $$$$ on dining out. However, with food presented this poorly, I take exception.
Made a reservation for our party of 4. Had to wait. We ordered appetizers - the shrimp cocktail came lying on a bed of chopped lettuce. Shrimp were dry, tough and had to have been laying about for a week! Not at all like the shrimp cocktail one would order anywhere (poached shrimp with cocktail sauce). The scallops - just poor. The French onion soup was a chicken stock with onion and croutons. But out of the 4 apps, the soup was the better choice. As for the entrees. Cod (no panko) swimming in sauce with no green beans and some type of rice but not a pilaf as advertised. The salmon (ordered well cooked) came to table as sushi - Sent back and came burnt and hard. Salmon lying on some type of succotash ( far from the advertised winter veggies and ruby red grapefruit. The 5 oz. jumbo lump crab cake was actually 3 oz. no jumbo lumps and under cooked. The accompany fries were stale and had to be cooked the day before (I would be embarrassed to present - just awful) and the coleslaw had absolutely no taste. For dessert our table ordered the ice cream as there was not much chance for it to come out wrong.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming HOWEVER; for this restaurant to succeed, they best step up their game. There are too many better restaurants to dine at in the area (let alone the DC Metro area). Right now, this establishment rates zero stars.
I hate to rate a restaurant this poorly ~ especially after its HUGE renovation. But this is, by far, the worst dining experience we ever had.
Such a disappointment. The Manor at Silo Falls is a beautiful location and setting. A bar with an edgier feel, smaller dining rooms with character and beauty. The outside patio would be a superb place for an evening outside. Unfortunately, the food and the service are seriously lacking. The soup wasn't hot. The scallops were undercooked. The chicken was seriously overcooked. Our waitress took away the cutlery with the appetizers, and we had to wait quite a while before getting new cutlery to eat our dinners. A waiter at the next table, was so loud, it was impossible to hear or talk over him when he was in the room. It's a shame. I may go back to have a cocktail outside, but I won't be ordering any food again unless they get a new chef and kitchen staff.
Worst service ever. Food was just ok.
Lovely restaurant with a very good menu, superb service, nice decor and good food. Loved it.
Great ambience for celebrating a special birthday. They accommodated our group of seven at a large round table near the fireplace per our request. It was quiet enough to talk and the staff were very attentive. Food was delicious!
The restaurant menu had many options from sandwich to entrees to chose from. The bar was very nice and friendly. Recommend their Manor Manhattan! Food was good and modestly priced. Wait staff was friendly and efficient.
Love eating there! Just wish they put back the filet mignon that was my favorite that was on the menu
Went for Happy Hour, nice bartender, got the mussels, burger sliders, chili. The bar is very nice and outdoor patio seating is very nice! Food tasted good but unfortunately the portions were very small and unimpressive...not impressed, we went to Sardis and the portions were amazing on the HH menu. If you are going to do a good happy hour I suggest you wow your clients, not limit the beers to coors light and yuengling and offer premium drafts for 3 or 4 bucks.
We always have great food and a great experience here.
We were seated in the bar area this time- and our waitress seemed new and maybe super busy so was not very attentive or quick to return for anything. She was very nice though- so maybe just frazzled with the busy night? We will still be back though! Love this place!
We asked for the room with the fireplace. It is a smaller quiet room which we enjoy. Food and service are always good. Four of us ordered fish and one order needed to be cooked a little more. It was done, but our diner likes his fish well done. Brussels were excellent.
Everything was great except my New York Strip. It was disappointingly tough for being cooked medium. However, I will try it again and give an update, if warranted.
Lunch out with a friend. I had eaten here for dinner the previous Saturday evening. Food and service very good then. Arrived a few minutes early for our 12:30 reservations There were many open tables in dining room to the left of entry. We were initially seated in right dining area in front of door entrance and in area of bar. We asked for different table away from door and were seated in an isolated table just outside the banquet room. Our waiter was pleasant when finally acknowledged. We both ordered soup and salad requesting soup first. Food took forever. Received salad first and soup later. Music volume was gradually increased to such a level that my friend, who is hearing impaired, could not enjoy our conversation. By this time, a large group was gathering in the banquet area which added to the distraction. Not sure I will return to this venue for lunch. Not sure my friend will return at all.
Excellent food and service!
Great food, nice setting by a fireplace. Excellent service by waitstaff
Very inexperienced waiter made for fairly slow and uneven service. Front of house staff not very knowledgeable of restaurant history, liquor availability, kitchen flexibility, etc. Pork overcooked, pasta overcooked. In the future, will probably opt for better venues in nearby Howard County, where we reside.
Food was great. Servers were extremely busy.
We were seated right away. Staff was courteous and friendly. Food was delicious!
Menu has changed, top items like bang bang shrimp are no longer available. Ordered the soup of the day which came out cold. Will not be back.
Beautiful restaurant. Looks like a mansion inside and out. Very relaxing & comfortable atmosphere & in a great location. Parking was adequate. Definitely recommend making reservations. Wait staff very attentive. Delicious food and drinks. Prices match portion and quality of food. Definitely worth it. Great date night or family gathering. We will be back for sure.
Great dinner on Valentine's day. Friendly service, attentive even though busy. Best NY Strip steaks (one MR, one very rare, both exactly right and delicious) , enjoyable calemari appetizer, nice desserts. Service was a little slow, and we were seated near a large, noisy group. We arrived on time and our table was ready. Not our first time at this fairly new restaurant, and we'll continue coming here for occasions or just for a meal.
Fabulous food, as usual. The pork chop was perfectly cooked, delicious and huge. The cod was tender and perfectly crisp on the outside, accompanied by delicious fresh green beans. It was a busy Valentine's day crowd so a bit noisy in the bar area where our table was located. Pepsi made sure we did not have to ask for anything, she was spot on in anticipating and meeting our needs! We will definitely dine here again, lots of yummy, creative menu items to try!
Went for 1st time with a small group for my daughter’s Birthday. Such a pretty place to start with and then the service, food, menu choices and value was just excellent! The braised short ribs were out of this world delicious:) 👍 One little wish is that the hot fudge brownie dessert was more traditional with gobs of hot drippy chocolate😉
My wife had a burger w/ fries, I had crab cake meal with slaw and fries. Both tasted great and portion of crab was very large w/ minimal filler (95/5).
This was the 1st time we had dined at The Manor at Silo Falls. We used to go to the restaurant that was in the same location which closed. We went to celebrate an early Valentine's Day & were not disappointed. Both my husband & I liked the food we ordered & service was excellent. When I saw the big TV screen through the window I thought "Uhho, this isn't going to be romantic." The big TV is in the bar though, & the dining rooms are still relatively quiet & nicely appointed.
The Manor at Silo Falls is a beautiful venue, but overall we were heavily disappointed in the brunch. We went at 1:30, as brunch is supposed to run until 4PM on Sunday’s, and everything available was running low. They did not replenish any of the food at the breakfast buffet, as donuts were stale and barely any French toast remaining. We went to the omelet/steak/waffle station, and there was a piece of hair in the prime rib dressing, which we informed the cook and he proceeded to pull it out with his hand and did not sanitize afterwards. I requested for a waffle and the cook pulled it out with his hands (no gloves) from the waffle maker and the omelet I asked to be made was still undercooked-I had to send it back to get another one made.
Conversely, our waitress was extremely kind and remembered it was my friend’s birthday and they brought out a special dessert/sang happy birthday. But, overall, we were really disappointed in the food.
The place was very nice and our server and food were excellent!
This was our first time and we will definitely be back often. Wonderful staff and atmosphere. The live music trio was awesome, as well.
Our entree’s and appetizers were perfect.
Service was great!!
Wonderful, brunch with 8 friends. Some ordered the brunch buffet and some ordered off the menu.
All delicious and spent several hours at our table. Service was great. Only negative is our table was situated near the live music so a bit loud when trying to hear conversations. Next time I will ask for a table a bit further from the music. Highly recommend.
This was our first time for Brunch at The Manor at Silo Falls, and what made it even better was the live music. We enjoyed our food as well as the music that played while we ate. We have already recommended The Manor at Silo Falls to friends and family.
The ambiance is lovely but not lovely enough to tolerate the noise level. It’s incredibly difficult to have a conversation. The Service is overwhelmed on a Saturday night. Entrees were served before the salads and appetizers, the bar was backed up. We cancelled our salads and appetizers as there was no point. Glasses were empty for most of dinner. The food was good but not worth the chaotic atmosphere.
