The Melting Pot - Greenville

The food was delicious! The service was good, but very slow. We arrived at our reservation time of 6:30 and did not leave until 9:45. I had no idea and did not expect that our dinner would be three hours and 15 minutes long. There were parties that were seated after us that had dinner and left before our dinner was finally finished. Make sure you are not in a rush and have plenty of time if you choose to eat at The Melting Pot.

We were in the melting pot for about 3 hours, I didn’t get as much meat as I should have. My uncle didn’t get his shrimp until we were almost done with our entree. Our server took almost an hour to bring us our chocolate after we finished our entree. I have definitely have much better service, we go to the melting pot all the time.

Kate was awesome. Was my boyfriend’s first time and he loved it!

We had a wonderful waiter walk us through the menu and explain the process. We loved the beautiful atmosphere for our anniversary lunch.

We never leave disappointed and this time wasn’t any different! Our waitress was friendly and skilled. The food from the cheese to the chocolate was amazing! (We had the big night out) 5 stars.

Our waitress wasn’t that great. We had to ask for drinks or refills from other servers passing by. When we sat down the first time she didn’t explain that it was a set menu for that night. Then she took forever to get to us. I know it was New Year’s Eve night but other patrons who were seated after us got their food and left. I honestly don’t feel like she deserved the 40% gratuity that she put on more like 20% tip.

As always the food was delicious and the experience was very nice. It does take a very long time to get through the meal. We took a shuttle service from Asheville and allotted ourselves 2 hours for dinner. We ran about 2:15 to finish and we were hurrying towards the end. Additionally, we were there for a 50th birthday and the server/mgmt wouldn’t serve champagne to one of our friends because she forgot her ID at home since we took a shuttle service. She was there with her 17 and 19 year old children at a 50th birthday party. She even had a picture of her ID on her phone. Seems a little ridiculous to deny service when it was very obvious she was closer to 50 than 21. Overall we enjoy the Melting Pot and will be back. Hoping the rumor of one opening is Asheville is true.

Good experience. Food good, service well. Way overpriced, a nice place for date but I’d rather cook at home for two than pay so much to cook my own food anyway.

Second time we’ve visited. We go for very special occasions. It really is about the experience of cooking your own food, sharing with others at your table and trying new fun things. Their cheese fondues are fabulous. Dessert choices are other-worldly. The prices are staggering. Our service was mediocre. Our server was very pleasant when she was PRESENT. The staff were harried and in a HURRY—so much so that they were dropping trays of food and dishware. It was five years between visits for us. We like the food but were disappointed with the service.

The server was great and the dessert especially was fabulous.

First table offered was not good. It was in a noisy area and too close to another table. We were able to be seated at a booth when asked, and had a good experience then. Food was tasty!

Food is always good and the atmosphere is excellent - including service. The only issue is it is about $100 for a dinner for two without any alcohol.

We have been many times as it is one of our favorite restaurants. Krystal was one of the best servers/cooks we have had. As always, excellent food.

Our waitress was super sweet and informative.

They previously told me during a different visit that a dessert coupon given to my daughter for her birthday had no strings attached and no purchase required. I explicitly took time to ask because I didn't believe that could be true. I was assured that it was no-strings-attached, but I just couldn't use it on that current visit; it had to be a new visit.

So a few days later we showed up with an excited daughter for a new visit just for dessert and were informed instead that we had to buy 2 cheeses and 2 entrees in order for the coupon to be used. Since I didn't have $75-100 ready to drop and we had already eaten dinner anyway, we just had to leave. Disappointed daughter, disappointed birthday, no fun. No thank you, Melting Pot. You've increased your prices and your misinformation bait-and-switch ruined what was supposed to be a fun outing.

Fondu is fun, but I can get substantially better food at many other places for that price. Beyond that, I value honesty and sticking to the word your customer received, even if your employee did get it wrong. So goodbye, Melting Pot. It was fun in the past.
