The Melting Pot - Schaumburg
Celebrated my daughters 17th birthday tonight. The Melting Pot exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere when you walked was warm and inviting and decorated beautifully for the holidays. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And the food was pretty darn good as well !! Two thumbs up and definitely will be going back!
Our favorite spot! We’ve come here three times in a now for an anniversary dinner and this place never disappoints
Honestly, a great place to go for a date or even with family. It's definitely something different and certainly fills you up. With a course meal, you'll be leaving satisfied and maybe a little sad that you didn't have enough room for one more bite.
Fun experience. Expect to spend some time and enjoy the experience. We were there about 2 1/2 hours with our two children (ages 7 & 9) and the time went by quickly. Children asked to go back. Server was very friendly. Food was very good.
Food was ok. Good service.
Outstanding as always!! One of my favorite restaurants!! Quality food and amazing service!!
It took a family of four over two hours to eat dinner.
Food - The cheese fondue was good. Our salads were very bitter and not fresh tasting. We did the Schaumburg special, which came with a selection of steak, pork, shrimp, ect. All was pretty good. We saw our waiter maybe 3 times during the whole experience. Had other people bringing drinks, clearing plates, bringing our food, ect. I am not a huge fan of that. I want to see my waiter and for them to bring me my food and drinks. You can also tell who the manager is and that he's very stressed out. Attitude in the staff reflects his leadership. You can see it and we won't be back, sadly.
Our service was outstanding. Everything was timed perfectly. We were there for about two and a half hours. This was a good amount of time to sit and enjoy our four course dinner. There have been a lot of complaints here about how a meal took too long, but it's fondue, it's supposed to be slower paced and relaxed.
Our complaint was the quality of the meat was not that good. We found the chicken and steak to be poor quality.
Our server Timothy was delightful and treated us like royalty. He checked on us several times through out our meal. We were very pleased. If you go give yourself enough time to sit, relax and enjoy your meal. This is not designed to be fast paced.
It was our 4th year in a row celebrating our anniversary at the melting pot! Great tradition, great food!
Food was great as always, service was okay but it was a busy time
Very slow service
The staff made this birthday me orable
Server was very good but could have explained more on options on ordering. We ordered a couple of a la carte dinners but would have been much better off one four course and splitting it.
We love his suggestion about remembering how long to cook the food...if is walks 2 minutes, everything else 1-1/2 minutes
My daughter who’s 5 loves it there! We do the cheese fondue while she has her chocolate fondue. Melting Pot has been accommodating with the double burners so that we can have our cheese and chocolate simultaneously.
We’ve been patrons for quite some time so we have our nights where the server is excellent and other nights where they’re just ok as far as their demeanor, ability to answer questions and their overall service which is a big part of our experience.
In all, took us over 3 hours to sit, eat, and pay. That’s absurd for a 7:15pm reservation when the restaurant wasn’t even that busy.
Excellent food and service as always
The service was very slow. In addition, the waiter heated the oil too high and it basically burnt the food we put in the pot in less than 60 seconds. When we complained to the waiter, he brought a new pot but didn’t replace the food that was burnt. This was their issue since he overheated the oil. Very disappointed in Schaumburg melting pot.
Our daughter chose this as her “last supper” before heading back to college the next day.
Service was as good as it could be as we came right after a table of 9. It was a busy Saturday night. The large table put our server a bit behind but the manager jumped right in and everything was made in a semi timely manner.
If you are looking for a quick dinner this is definitely not the place for you. Out was 3 1/2 hours!
But we enjoyed every minute. Everything was the delicious and I could have started all over again with the cheese course!!
The Melting Pot is definitely one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I am seeing poor reviews complaining about how you are paying for the experience, not the food. Well, I say that it is worth it! It is a great experience! I love to take my time and enjoy cooking my food and chatting with my dining companions and eating slowly and really make it a fun and different dining experience. Looking at the amount of food you get, it does seem like a little bit, but I am always satisfied by the end of my meal.
I have been here about a dozen times (various locations) and love everything about The Melting Pot (except trying to pronounce "bourguignonne" lol). We always do that cooking style (canola oil)...tip: I always cook my vegetables wayyyyyy longer than they say. And ohhhhhh the dipping SAUCES is what takes this place from 4 stars to 5. And the garlic and wine seasoning. Even just the aroma of the entire restaurants haunts my dreams, in a good way, always calling me back.
I have always had a good experience at the Melting Pot, except this time.
This time we ordered two cheese fondues and when they prepared it, they only prepared one and charged us for two. I asked the waiter three times and he said, no, this is two. I know darn well what one and two look like. It was very disturbing to be ripped off.
I would agree with most of the reviews that this place is much more about the experience than the food. Also, if you are lactose intolerant, don't bother coming here. I was so sick after the first course (even after taking a lactaid pill) that I really couldn't enjoy the rest of the evening. Not the restaurant's fault, but I wouldn't go back with my eating restrictions.
Our waiter Josh was nice and personable. Food was good, We've been going to Melting pot for years.
Our first visit was a lot of fun! Our waiter explained the whole process and was very accommodating to my gluten allergy. Their menu was noted with “GF” and made suggestions on how to make each meal gluten free. They had gluten free bread for the cheese fondue and gluten free cake and brownie for dessert. I was very impressed.
Service was very slow took about 30 mins between each course with old food sitting in front of us for awhile before next course. Waiter was nice but extremely slow. He seemed to be juggling to many tables. Small birthday group was sat right next o our intimate dinner and was very loud and obnoxious. Waiter kept talking to both tables at the same time. He’d be literally setting there plates down and talking to us from there side asking what else do we need!
Great service, great food and romantic ambience.
Service was so poor. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. But getting your drinks when the first course arrives is ridiculous. When I asked for a refill, the waitress set down her tray and said,"I'm going to go get it now so I don't forget." Then we had to go ask to get our second course (after 1/2 hr). and we really weren't in a hurry at all. We also had to then call a manager to get our final course. When it came, it was the wrong order! This was painful. The staff is clearly not trained appropriately. The manager never ONCE apologized. Bad deal.
The server Jake was knowledgeable and friendly. He knew the a lot about the food and was able to answer our questions.
It was very good great food great environment great service loved it
We have had our last dinner at Melting Pot. First, we ordered a bottle of wine which was brought to the table already opened ! We asked why it was opened and were told because the server wasn’t 21. This made no sense at all since the person who brought the wine to the table over was over 21 and he simply could’ve opened it at the table. They didn’t even bring the cork to the table. Next, after our entree was finished no one came to clear the table. We set for 15 minutes with a table full of plates, glasses , utensils etc. Since no one came back to clear the table the pot of cooking oil was left on the table . Soon it started to smoke. Not steam but actual smoke getting in our eyes. We couldn’t flag down a server so we had to place an empty plate over the pot to stop the smoke. Finally we waved down a manager who turned off the cook top and removed the pot. He was so rude about it we felt like we had done something wrong by covering the pot. (wish i had gotten his name because he was a complete jerk) He never apologized for the condition of the table and seemed to be extremely aggravated. Not the right personality to manage a restaurant. In the past we always enjoyed our dinners at Melting Pot and typically had good service. Based upon our experience last night I assume it’s under new management. Unfortunately we will not be back. If you are ok with driving into the city try Gejas or Fondue Stube. Much better overall experience.
This was my first ever experience at the Melting Pot and I must say, that I enjoyed every bit of it. The restaurant itself is just beautiful. The staff was very friendly, and the food was amazing. It was a busy night so refills took just a smidge longer, but it never got to the point to where I was getting frustrated. It was honestly expected with how many larger groups there were. I will definitely visit this place again in the future.
Our server, Nathan, was fun and took excellent care of us. We appreciated the manager stopping at our table not once, but twice during the evening to check on our experience. Loved my Birthday Strawberries. They were exceptional this year.
Great customer service, food was better than i expected. I would go back again.
Everything was going good until we had a cheese fondue , ran out of cheese long before our dipping items, same on chocolate at end. Waited 1/2 hour for our second drink and only received after asking for 2nd time. Our waiter was delightful until he got hit with 3 tables at once then we got left behind. Portions have been cut greatly in recent years.
Very good service and excellent food. The drinks are also good.
Dinner out with my daughter
Have dined here before. Try to go when they have specials as those are a good deal. The manager checked on us a couple of times . Our server was very hard to hear and seemed like he was whispering. Didn't seem to have a personality for the restaurant business and it seemed like he didn't like his job.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. The food was plentiful without being overwhelming. The waiter guided us with great expertise. The food was delicious, all four courses. So much fun reminiscing about fondue.
Not as nice as it use to be but still fun. Young staff but super nice. Ask for the specials and have fun
