Pendray Inn and Tea House

First time at the Pendray - DaT got me there and I did the $40 menu with a glass of prosecco... was FABULOUS! highly recommend and I will go back!

LOVED afternoon tea at the Pendray Tea House. I highly recommend it.

The whole experience was fantastic.
However being asked to add a 15% gratuity before we have even sat down and had anything served to us ( yes it’s covid and trying to maintain contactless I can understand) however I am in the service industry and never would I ever put my clients in the spot and ask for a tip before the service was complete . It was extremely off putting and set the tone for our experience overall .
Not to mention I asked the price of the bill and he told me the piece after tax .
Never should someone be asked to tip on the taxes .
I would definitely come again however next time If I am asked to pre pay for tip I will speak my mind and politely decline until after we are done .

We did the dine around menu and it was very tasty and well priced. The tea selection was great! I recommend the vanilla bourbon. I definitely recommend and plan on returning in the future.

Very elegant and royal setting. Lovely service especially during Covid. Very clean and their protocol for covid was clearly established - posted menu at the front desk only, payment made when you order rather than after, etc.
I feel the value for the price may be a tiny steep. Perhaps you may get more food for that price at another tea house but the flavours were awesome and the sweets were delicate. They catered to the vegetarian in our group and they were happy. Overall I’d go again for sure. We had a lovely time.

With the dine aroumd deal it is a good price for the afternoon tea
If not to expensive for the small portion of sweets and scones.

Overall a nice high tea experience. Gorgeous setting. The actual teas (drinks) were delicious. The vegan option was good - although very dry / definitely felt like it was 1, 2 or 3 days old.

Myself and my daughter have been at Pendray on many occasions for “mommy and me” time. Each experience has been consistently met with excellent service, food and tea. I would highly recommend Pendray above other teas offered in town due to the ambience, food, service and proximity to town/seawall. It’s effortless to make a day around your experience at Pendray with a walk along the water, to the museum or to town. Highly recommend.

A good alternative to the Empress tea. We enjoyed the view of the harbour and the ambience of the old historic house. The tea was delicious and the food was tasty. You leave the table satisfied.

This is such a pleasant heritage building and when it's decorated at Christmas (in spite of COVID) it's a nice reprieve from one's own house if the plan is to go with only those in your household (or if solo, the one/two friends in your bubble). It's very clean. The tea was very good, as were all the goodies and not just a minor amount. My friend and I were both full after eating this and enjoyed our time in this gracious old space.

Atmosphere, service and the food was amazing.

Lovely location in the Inner Harbour that is conducive to a walk either before or after tea. I used a Travel Zoo coupon to pay for experience. Value for money, it was a good deal. I wouldn’t have felt the same way had I paid the full price. Varied tea menu. Something for everyone’s tastes. The hot savoury offerings were very tasty. The cucumber sandwiches were my least favourite item. Slices were too thick and irregularly cut. The white bread was not fresh, melt in your mouth soft. The sandwich was under seasoned and needed more cream cheese. The sweets were adequate. The Earl Grey scones, whipped cream and jam were delicious!

The setting and service was excellent.The price was high for the experience. The Devonshire cream was inferior to what we expected and some of the food was dry.

I arranged to treat my parents to have high tea for a special occasion and the service was excellent to set it up. My parents were thrilled with the whole experience. The staff really made it special for them.

Loved it! Always come when I’m in town! Family favourite, great memories!

the Tea house is beautiful, I just wish we would have gone in the spring or summer when the garden was at its best (rather than the late fall). the food was fantastic, and the service was great. My one complaint was that although I had made a reservation a week in advance, we waited almost 40 minutes to be seated, which was hard to keep my little granddaughters waiting that long on empty tummies! But once seated, we received our tea and food quickly, and we had a great time acting like fancy ladies! We were also permitted to look around upstairs and in the garden, which was great! We will definitely be going back!

Really amazing service and food. We have allergies they had to substitute with but they were great and we had a wonderful time! Was a memorable part of our honeymoon!

Traditional high tea was lovely. Beautiful old mansion on the harbour so view was wonderful. Very Covid conscious and felt safe. The host Jan was so friendly and welcoming. Great experience.

Charming place. Tea is exquisite! The selection of breads and pastries are very filling.

They don't live up to their fame, at least in the breakfast.

Our high tea at Pendray was an oasis of delight in these covid times. Staff was masked, seating well-spaced, just a delightful peaceful experience.

In the midst of this pandemic we were thrilled to be able to enjoy high tea at the Pendray!
Server was friendly, attentive and most importantly masked! We had a lovely quiet table and the assortment of food was varied and delicious!
Will certainly plan on returning!

Wonderful location in the harbour in a beautiful old mansion. You might get a choice of room to have your tea. We chose the back reading room which was quiet. I’ve had a few High Teas before and they are pricey and there is always one or two items you might not be over the moon about. This is no different - but overall there was some very tasty savoury and sweet items. Ambience and service was lovely.

In a charming period mansion. Easy to find and in a good location. There were a lot of options in the afternoon tea and all were quite tasty. The savoury tart was a stand out. There is a nice selection of tea and each guest receives their own pot.

The atmosphere was great! Staff was really informative. The teas tasted great, the food could have been better.

Booked this high tea for 4 because of my anniversary and gfs bday. It’s our first time in Victoria. Food was probably the worst, flavorless high tea I have ever been to. Only had some tea and the egg sandwich and packed the rest to garbage it. Sorry I expected more than it was. I’ve been to cheaper high tea but food was great. Not here. Atmosphere and vibe was so dead and silence, the most boring high tea ever been to.

Beautiful ambience,food and tea. It was exactly what we were hoping for.

It was really cute and a fun experience. The staff was really nice and professional. Food was yummy and tea was delicious. They were taking good safety precautions from covid. My only complaint would be that it was quite pricy for what it was and I could of done with out hearing metal music coming from the kitchen which took away from the ambiance.

Overall the experience was fine but there were too few staff, so getting service was not easy, and the place itself needs a fair bit of work.

I had made reservations on line for tea for myself and my 4 year old daughter as a special treat on our trip to Victoria. I specifically requested the 1:30pm tea time as there was patio seating available at that time. However, when we arrived, there were no seats outside and the person at the front desk informed me that they "cannot guarantee seating outside". I explained that it was an option to reserve and that I would have reserved an indoor table at an earlier time if I had known this. He again stated that although this policy is not on the website, they cannot guarantee outdoor seating. I asked how he was going to help us through this situation, and he then proceeded to put a table cloth on an outdoor patio table in the back alley with no other patrons. Our view was a bicycle lock up, and the back of a hotel staring at air conditioners. The server came once to give us our food and never returned. This tea cost $150 dollars! I will not be returning to this business as we were treated like nuisances.
