Great place for a date or to celebrate a special occasion- great ambience, delicious food and very friendly staff!
We dined happily for many years at the Peacock Inn, but its relaunch as Perch, with a new culinary team in the kitchen, and a new front of the house team, has done more than just reinvigorate the dining experience, it has transformed Perch into a culinary gem with few rivals in the Princeton dining scene.
Couldn’t have wished for a better place to spend our anniversary dinner.
The food was outstanding as was the service.
Keep coming back to this place for the vibe and true dinning experience. Don’t expect your average tastings, food is complex and flavorful.
We understand that the restaurant changed hands a year or two back and this was the first time we ate there since the new ownership took over. We saw no decline in the quality of the food or service and, of course, the ambience is wonderful. We ate there the day after Christmas so social distancing was not an issue. Highly recommended for a special or romantic occasion.
On this cold evening we were very pleased that the valet service had resumed! Each of us decided to have beet appetizer and the suckling pork cheek entree. The appetizer include small section of oranges and slices of crisp vegetables that well complemented the beets. The pork cheek entree was a chef's special for the day and certainly did not disappoint. The meat was tender and served with rounds of grilled squash and other vegetables. We completed our meal with a chocolate cake and chocolate mousse that was delicious. It was an excellent meal with excellent service.
This was our second year for Christmas brunch. The Peacock Inn exudes charm and service. Brunch is always on a 3 course prix fixte basis. I chose a shrimp cocktail with prawns over a horseradish cous cous and the smoked fish platter. Desert was a sponge cake base which we packed our deserts for later. Valet parking is complementary. Cost pp is $65.00. For a party of three with tax and tip, it came to $290. Food, and service is excellent. My daughter has dietary restrictions so the Chef came out to speak with her to agree on what should be prepared.
We used to love this place when it was Peacock Inn. But now that the restaurant and chef have changed, and they are now The Perch, the food is no longer as good as before, it is in fact terrible.
My wife and I just had our Christmas dinner there tonight. Nothing was good. The butter bean soup my wife had was simply horrible, it tasted like herbal medicine. The fish was dry and tasteless. The duck toast was burnt. The suckling pig was salty and charred.
$85 for a set dinner and $26 for a glass of wine. You can find much better food and better ambience for the money.
And in COVID time, the tables in the restaurant were still very close to each other, in some cases less than 6 feet apart.
The only thing nice tonight was the staff, they were quite attentive and pleasant. But the food took a long time.
We will not go back again.
Excellent dinner. Interesting and exciting menu, Beautiful presentation and great service. Definitely a place to visit on a regular basis.
I ate several times here. I booked for a special family dinner at Christmas Eve expecting to have a great experience.
The staff was very nice however I think they change the Chef. The food was really poor. Unbelievable how poor was.
The price is very expensive, we were expecting this but with an excellent food as in the previous years.
We will not come back again. I do not recommend at all.
We went to Perch for my husband's birthday and it was perfect. The ambience and service were spectacular. One thing to note: due to Covid, there were probably a couple other patrons only socially distanced.
The food was just too too good. Everything was flavorful, and just done right. We love desserts and they outdid themselves.
It was a very special evening and we'd definitely go back.
Very talented and creative chef. Everything from bread, spreads, appitizers to entrees - delicious with perfect texture.
The Perch is one of our favorite restaurants. We tend to celebrate special occasions here. The preparation and presentation of the food is always delicious and beautiful. The decor is elegant and the staff are more than gracious. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant
This was hands down one of the BEST meals I have ever eaten. WOW!!! From appetizer to dessert the food was incredible. Can’t rave enough about this restaurant and hotel.
This place is first class and we had an excellent dining experience. Very lovely Christmas decorations all over the place and just a great vibe
Both of us decided to have the sliced pork loin and the special clam chowder. The poem loin was served along with the bone, from which it was separated on the plate, The meat was tender and flavorful. The entree was served with thin slices of turnip and sun chokes, we think. They were a wonderful accompaniment and very tasty. The clam chowder was highly unusual in that it was served with the clam in their shells. It was very good as well. For dessert we had the German Chocolate cake and the fig torte. Both were excellent. The service was attentive.
This was a delicious and beautiful Thanksgiving dinner. The staff were friendly and professional. During these trying times, it was a lovely escape. I certainly will return.
The plating was just amazing. I was impressed with the creativity.
Unfortunately the taste didn’t live up to the presentation. Savory food was all extremely salty!!!
The dessert was confusing too. One dessert plate had a lot of elements and they gave it complexity but did not come together at all.
Very upscale, it exceeded my economic and I will be returning soon
Everything was great I look forward to our next visit.
Maybe an overnight stay
Great food! Excellent use of herbs and fresh local ingredients.
The Perch is the new name for the restaurant at The Peacock Inn, and while the owners have changed, the quality of the food and service have not changed. The staff was beyond excellent from beginning to end, being attentive without being intrusive through our bar and restaurant experience. We arrived a little early and had a drink at the bar, which has a fantastic whiskey selection and a wonderful bartender. The food was cooked flawlessly and all the courses came out at the perfect time. The only thing we missed out on (because we were so full) was the dessert.
Fantastic service and great location. Couldn’t ask for more.
Excellent food menu, superbly executed food both in taste and presentation, the best wine selection (both by the glass and by the bottle), great consideration to diner comfort to meet high standards in ambience, service, and an 'above and beyond' attitude towards all of these.
Our dining experience was lovely! The outdoor dining was beautiful and food was well prepared and delicious, although portions were small. I did think that the beverage (wine) choices were quite pricey!
The food was very creative and very tasty. The service was truly white glove and very elegant.
Celebrating our friends 50th
We went for our Anniversary. When we first got our wine both of our glasses were definitely not cold enough. I had scallops and my husband had the bass. Both were very good. The service was good but very drawn out. There didn’t need to be that much time between each course and the waiter could have checked on us more. It was nice but definitely had areas they could approve upon!
My birthday dinner was just perfect. The ambience here is almost serene. We were given an abundance of tastes described as amuse Bouche, but was actually so much more...quinoa, grilled squash with eggplant, beans with duck and a bowl of delicious bread. We ordered starters not realizing how many goodies were going to be delivered. Oysters were described as perfect and the heirloom tomatoes with pickled peaches was delicious with fresh ricotta and sour dough crotons. This serving was really large...thank goodness the oysters weren’t as plentiful so I got some help. We both chose the king salmon for main course. It was prepared perfectly medium rare with quite the assortment of goodies on the plate inc, using an eggplant purée and crisped chick peas. We had help selecting a French White thst complemented the food. I was totally surprised with the complementary dessert, a fig tart, complete with candle that made the evening very special.
great service and meal! very attentive! good for special occasions
A lovely town hotel with a restaurant. Sunday brunch was perfect, and the service was most accommodating. The food was well-prepared.
After a wonderful dinner and overnight stay we enjoyed brunch. The burger is excellent and the french toast is delicious
Magnificent evening food and service exceeded only by the venue. The staff is outstanding. The food is prepared to perfection. The oysters were amazing as was the tomato first course. Our stay included the hotel and the room was extremely nice.
Very nice, except for recorded music, rather intrusive.
The food was excellent and the complimentary amuse bouche was delightful
This was a truly exceptional experience. The garden we sat in is decorated beautifully with lush flowers and twinkle lights. It is street side so there’s some car noise but it honestly didn’t take away from the experience. The way this chef handles vegetables is exceptional, including the 3 starter veggies that come out with butter and bread at the beginning of the meal. The sea bass and sweet corn agnolotti were highlights of our meal as well as the deconstructed s’mores. Our wine paired with dinner came out late but the GM graciously comp’d the wine. All in all I can’t wait to revisit!
We celebrated a milestone birthday and enjoyed ever portion of our meal!! The ambiance was great and waiting staff was outstanding!!
Go an enjoy a meal at The Perch!! It’s worth it!!
Complimentary small plates and bread plus the 1st courses were very good. Main courses and desserts were good but with room for improvement. We had an indoor table (for 2) but it was a bit too close to another table (5 people) in the same room. I understand that it is hard to keep social distancing indoor but I personally think that for the size of that middle room, there should only be one big table or 2 small ones during this COVID time. Service was a little bit slow (arrived at 8 and left around 10:30) but I think there was a big, maybe wedding, party outside. Manager did check on us and he was friendly and nice. It was our wedding anniversary and my husband did note this in the booking but no one said Happy anniversary to us. This kind of personal touch does make a big difference.
Absolutely, best meal I have had all year (and there is some stiff competition). Kudos to the stellar staff and an incredible kitchen movement! Excited to return for fall dishes!!!
