The Pheasant Inn
Pheasant Ale Battered Fish and Chips
crushed peas, tartare sauce, lemon
Tempura King Prawns
The Pheasant never disappoints. Ticks all the boxes for us.
Sunday lunch with some friends, great service and food. Cocktails “White Bull” was brilliant too
Superb service - thank you - from all the servers we had.
Met in sad circumstances but we enjoyed the food, the service and the ambience. Very conveniently situated off the M4.
Fantastic evening out, fab waiting staff and excellent food
As always, great staff, great food in beautiful surroundings. Really busy when we arrived but still no long waits or stressed staff! Recommended for sure.
Lunch was absolutely lovely. Food fantastic and service warm and friendly. It was my friends birthday and a little cake and chorus of happy birthday was sung. Really lovely. ( not prearranged- totally spontaneous from The Pheasant ). Thank you. We had a very enjoyable afternoon.
Lovely pub and atmosphere. beautiful food
Great country pub in every sense of the word. Great selection of Whiskys and Gins from around world local distillery.
Service was excellent and the food outstanding. One of the best Pork Belly dishes Ive had in a long time.
Excllent location for meeting passing friends for lunch. Menu was more limited than I expected, and my choice of dish was no longer available when I ordered - the restaurant was very busy and with so many bookings I was surprised the menu was not larger and that they did not have a "special's board", although my wife enjoyed her default dish of battered cod.
The french chardonnay by the glass was very good - sadly I did not have time to have a pint of Timithy Taylors, but will next time.
As it was busy the service was a little slow.
I suppose that Mondays can always be difficult if after a busy weekend, and it is so difficult getting staff and supplies at the moment.
I will be dropping again in the future if passing.
Efficient, hardworking and pleasant staff. Sunday lunchtime and they had 140 covers, the meal was excellent. Very well run establishment and exceptionally clean.
Superb food and a full vegan menu. Excellent service and a really nice vibe.
Keep coming back!
Fabulous, everything was perfect, we hope to be back!
Excellent meal. Perfect for lunch with a few friends. Will definitely return.
Well cooked food, served in a timely way. We missed the fact that the wine prices were without vat so that part of the meal was more pricey than expected.
Easy to book a table, a reasonable welcome, service good, food good a pleasant experience. I had mentioned when I booked the table it was a birthday, but no mention of this at all during our meal, bit disappointing.
We love The Pheasant. Very good Sunday lunch, well prepared, cooked and served. Excellent service, relaxed, pleasant atmosphere, no rush. We will be back again!
Booking on line easy - and subsequent phone enquiry about social distancing indoors etc. very helpfully and fully answered. Absence of musak and extraneous background noise - HOORAY! Has become good and relaxed 'half-way' meeting point for us between Winchester (where we live), Oxford and Bristol.
Perfect is all I can say. I couldn't recommend The Pheasant highly enough. Thanks to the staff for a highly enjoyable and comfortable stay and scrumptious dinner
We arrived early and shown quickly to our table.
Starters were very good as were the fish and chips.
Service was excellent from the female staff which made for a pleasant experience
having not been since pre Covid
The place is wonderful. So neat and clean, lovely atmosphere . Super food. Highly recommend.
A favourite location.....................................................
Lovely location for a leisurely lunch on a Monday; we both really enjoyed it !!
Have visited The Pheasant many times. It is very popular at week-ends which speaks
Lovely seating area, nicely spaced out. Great menu and superb food
Out waitress was very attentive and joined in with our humour.
Would certainly visit again
Excellent food and service. Very good choices. Pastry on the steak pie was superb. Very busy for Saturday lunch so obviously quite noisy at times with low ceilings.
Excellent. Delicious. Fun evening with friends. The best of pub food.
Always of a high standard and a great favourite pub for any occasion
This was a perfect place to meet as I live in Hertfordshire and friend in Wales. It's just off the motorway [J14 of M4]and is dog friendly [we were handing a dog back after holidays]. The bar looked really convivial with lots of people and chatter, but I went to restaurant. Service is brilliant, really attentive but not intrusive and the food is to die for. I cannot think of anything they need to do to improve
Arrived earlier than expected but that wasn't a problem. Staff were friendly and polite, our waitess was very bubbly and helpful.
Ambience was very nice, quiet but not overly so. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the food.
Will definitely return.
Sunday Lunch at The Pheasant was to say the least disappointing.
I booked the table via what I can only assume is this agency. The Pheasant had NO BOOKING when we arrived (although I had received a confirmation Email) and had to prepare a table for us which they did and for which I can only thank the staff.
The food was to say the least mediocre !!!
Meat 'tough' both the Pork and Beef, neither I felt were completely cooked through.
3 out of the 4 Yorkshire Puddings were 'burnt'.
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE !!!!
Good food, ambience and decor. Dessert took a long time to arrive but it was extremely busy for Sunday lunch
Fabulous food and wine. The chateaubriand is particularly recommended. The service was a little patchy without a dedicated member of waiting staff per section.
Rib eye steak was tough I left a good half of the steak and reported it to the waiter and nothing was done or an allowance made. We ordered two nibbles and two breads. Unfortunately only one came they had made a mistake but did bring more fairly soon. The wine and the main meal cod were excellent
Food was all lovely but service was a tad slow but staff were apologetic and on the ball. And friendly. We didn’t mind. There was a large table near us who were a little noisy. Won’t stop us returning though! We recommend it!
Lovely food atmosphere and waitresses / waiters were excellent
Excellent staff who hit the perfect balance of efficiency and friendliness made our visit a great success.
Great place - very near motorway
We're occasional regulars, iyswim - we meet for a meal at The Pheasant once a quarter, and usually ask for (and get) the table in the snug, so our meetings can be quasi-private, but not isolated.
The service is always good, but last night's was exceptional - we were really well looked after but not fussed over; well done, team! I'm sure it was helped by a quiet-ish night in the pub / restaurant, but our head waitress in particular took really good care of us.
Food was good too, though one of our number complained that the only thing she fancied was the fish & chips!! The rest of we 6 managed fine, though I have to say the rib-eye steak, whilst cooed perfectly to my medium-rare request, was disappointingly gristle-y. I didn't complain coz that's how it is sometimes, and the meaty bits were excellent.
