The Pine Room at Hotel Roanoke
Somewhat disappointed in the food at the Pine Room - the Hotel was very nice, drinks at the bar were great! Food is just OK. The churros for desert were really good! Probably would not eat at the Pine Room again.
I had a very good salad, just a little bit small for the price. The person I met there for lunch had a great looking burger and delicious looking sundae. Our server was very polite and attentive. Very nice, relaxed atmosphere.
Mediocre to less than mediocre food. No masks worn by ANY staff at all in the ENTIRE HOTEL during a continuing pandemic, which I found quite disrespectful to the guests’ health. When my mother complained her $30 hanger (!!) steak was too tough to enjoy and her potatoes were unseasoned, the manager comped an $11 run-of-the-mill fruit pie. If this is the only food option at the otherwise lovely Hotel Roanoke, go out for dinner! If you’re looking for staff that is masked and respectful of your health during an ongoing pandemic, STAY AWAY.
It was not a good night for us at the Pine Room. My meal came fairly long after the others at our table, and my beef was not at all cooked to my order. Because the others had already almost finished their meals, I had most of my meal boxed to cook and eat today. I forgot my box at a table in the bar area, and it was gone within minutes. oh well. I tried to oder dessert at the restaurant, but it didn't take. After what seemed tone negotiations with the staff, we sat outside for a drink after dinner, which we odder and picked ourselves. No service out there, and therefore no dessert. I went home hungry
Friends joined us for dinner which was amazing. My husband had the pork chop and two of us loved the sea bass.
Fabulous meal and great balcony!
Extremely disappointing visit. The restaurant was rather crowded due to people eating prior to a nearby concert. However, we arrived early to allow sufficient time & were assured by staff that our meals would be prepared quickly...they never were! Our waitress checked with us several times & checked with both the manager & the chef's station about the progress of the meal. We were told several times that it would arrive quickly. After an hour had passsed without any food (and without any visit to our table from the manager, which we were also told would be forthcoming), we walked out. We did pay for two cocktails, which did arrive within a reasonable amount of time, but only after they tried to charge us for a third drink, which also never was served. Indeed, a good resturanteur would have (probably should have) "comped" those drinks. We don't believe the waitress was at fault for the delays (and apologized profusely), but this was clearly a very poorly managed and supervised operation. Being "busy" is not an excuse for being unable to get an entree out in less than an hour. We have been to the Pine Room many times in the past, but it will be a very long time before we consider returning. Can't comment about the food since we never got any!
Host was a bit rude, trying to help someone who came after us while we were waiting to be seated. The other person even said to help us, but the host said something along the lines of, no, it's ok, and continued to help them for about 5 minutes. Charcuterie plate was tasty. I had the flank steak. It was cooked well to medium rare but when served was luke warm at best.
Despite short handed, the staff worked together and we're very attentive. Erin was great explaining the dishes and we enjoyed the ambiance and the food.
my burrata pizza had no flavor at all and someone at another table that got the same thing had the same reaction. It was a piece of flatbread with tomatoes cooked on it and a couple of very thin slices of cheese that were hard to find. No seasoning, herbs, etc. There were fresh greens on top that also had no flavor. The cooks all looked very young and were playing around a lot. For $15 I expected a lot more.
Excellent farm to table food. We all came away stuffed. Roasted carrot/Falafel bowl was delicious. Smash burger was a handful. Big, juicy, and flavorful. Cooked to perfection per my medium request.
Brooke was a perfect server. My mom has allergy issues and Brooke addressed them with a no problem attitude. The food is fabulous as usual ( we are spoiled now!!) I love the interior design and that the bar is in the next room, so it is quieter than it would be if not.
We love the Pine Room.
Our lunch at the Pines it was delicious! Our service was excellent and the sun was on point as always. If you haven’t had the mushroom toes or the tempura cauliflower I highly recommend!
Great food and beverages but stopped serving dinner menu at 9
The Pine Room (outdoors) for Sunday evening dinner with friends was great. Our server was pleasant, respectful, and fun. She gave us ample time to visit. The entrees (fish, hangar steak, and pasta and sausage) were superb. Thanks.
The Pine Room is now a lively area for people of all ages. The food is not your ordinary fare, and that's wonderful. Nice!
Everything was incredible and the food was amazing. Our server Penny was fabulous and cannot wait to go back!
Delicious flatbreads and upscale service.
Great live music plus great dinner
Delightful evening, even with the rain. The staff made sure the rain did not affect our dinner on the porch. We enjoyed a series of small plates that we each very enjoyable. The Pine Room is a great experience for visitors to Roanoke as well as downtown denizens.
We had dinner reservations for 5:00pm. Unfortunately when we arrived they were not serving their dinner menu yet so we were only able to order off off the bar/lunch menu. The salads we ordered were tiny and the amount of chicken that I asked to be added was a very small amount. We were pretty unimpressed with the overall food and service.
Excellent choice for downtown Roanoke. The remodel of the lobby bar and Pine Room restaurant is very high end.
We were staying overnight at the Hotel Roanoke on the return from a family reunion. We have stayed at the hotel over the past 13 years anytime we are up in that area. We were disappointed to find out that the dining room was closed so we ate in the Pine Room. Our server, Tracy did an outstanding job in serving us. The food was good for typical pub food and it was a relaxing evening.
The Pine Room at Hotel Roanoke is an excellent place to have lunch. The menu is not extensive but there are plenty of choices, and the food which is served very promptly is quite delicious! The service is excellent. I highly recommend The Pine Room.
Family road trip!
The establishment is beautiful and the staff is exceptionally kind and helpful. The food was wonderful and the drinks were something else. We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed every moment.
3 salads the size of side , 6 deviled eggs iced teas were $67.00 not including the tip. WAY overpriced food.
Food was great. Service was really good, very helpful servers and proactive.
Really good service, yummy food and drinks. Would highly recommend the deviled eggs.
DeShawn is the best server!! He is professional, efficient and the whole staff is incredible! Food is divine~~~
Great setting with nice views of Roanoke City and Star.
Interesting Menu with local farm to table dishes.
Excellent mushroom toast and cauliflower apps. Great relaxed environment wonderful evening great service beautiful historic hotel.
We went to celebrate Father’s Day, and we loved it. We tried the Pimiento Cheese fries, which were outstanding. The Burrata, Beets salad was amazing. We also got the steak and it was great. Only this is that the prices in the menu, didn’t match what we were charged. It was only $1 different in 3 different items. Just a heads up. Food amazing, service was good.
The room is lovely and our server was great. The problem: my french fries were cold, and the plate my smash burger was served on was wayyy too small. My fork and bits of food kept falling onto the table. My companion asked for lightly cooked pork and the chop was overcooked and tough.
The Pine Room has excellent food--among the best in Roanoke. The service is also great. My family has had Maria as our server twice, and she is fantastic. The new outdoor seating area is lovely!
Newly renovated, and our first time in the dining room. Open kitchen, great ambience, outdoor and indoor seating. Cocktails and wine were wonderful.
The meal was excellent as was the service, but the layout and table placement made it very very noisy - conversation was difficult without raising your voice - and it’s tables right beside one another - no booths
Hostess was very accommodating when calling and checking in with regard to adding an extra guest. With that, our server was either way busier than what seemed or had an off day. Forgot salads for two guests. Once they arrived dinner wasn’t brought out more than a minute later. Bottle of white wine ordered was served warm and not properly iced down.
Onto the food. Meatballs were great but overly priced for two. Salads were salads. However the chicken dish...meat was dry. Lacked any flavor and simply relied on the vegetables and such in dish to do the task of flavoring an overpriced single chicken thigh.
Best Amd most redeeming factor has always been the inviting hosts, their caliber of professionalism as well as the view when dining al fresco.
We had a 7:15pm reservation for 3. Our waitress was terrible. She would disappear, and could not be found. Plus, she was rude.
The new food and drink menus are fantastic! We sat outside and had a wonderful view of downtown. Service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be going back.
