The Ram Kingston
Welcoming, efficient, organised, and felt completely safe.
Hey LizJ, we are so pleased to hear you felt safe and enjoyed your pre theatre nibbles. Hope you had a fun night and we get to see you again very soon. Thanks Again Nicola General Manager
I ordered the burger & chips, my mate had the chicken pie. When my plate arrived it had half the food NY friend had in hers. The fries, NOT chips, were rock hard, the burger was over cooked and tiny.
Because the door was open, it was cold inside.
The music was quite high, that doesn't work when a pub operates just as a restaurant. Every body was shooting at their tables. A pretty poor experience if you ask me, pity!
Initially fine at the front door being shown to our table. Staff wearing visors. Their app wasn't working so we were asked to order at the bar inside and the security guy at the back door hadn't been told we could come in to order and tried to send us back around to the front of the pub. The lady in charge quickly sorted that out for us and couldn't have been more helpful.
Social distancing wasn't great and people started to just wander in and out of the garden area and not bother with queuing at the front. No one stopped them.
Food was boring, bland pub grub. Nothing remotely healthy on the menu. Staff were handling our glasses with no concerns really.
Overall, not very impressed.
This is a lovely old Kingston pub, so great to see them back in business after the lockdown. Tends to get busy in hot weather/weekends because of river view but to be honest it’s a cracking place to visit at any time for the friendly staff and wide selection of craft ales.
This was my first visit to a pub since lockdown, but the Ram felt quite safe - booking system worked well and the spacing felt distanced enough. We didn't eat, but the food others had looked good. Drinks and service were good.
Great service, by all staff - quick and efficient and in current circumstances due to covid-19 the staff were attentive to ensure full PPE worn and regular cleaning of frequent touched surfaces
very well organised in the current situation, fantastic service.
Great atmosphere, beaut garden, great friendly staff. A bit slow to get drinks but it's because they are so busy
After eating here both myself and my son were sick with an upset stomach. Contacted the manager the next day to inform and received a message saying that no other customers were ill after eating the burgers. Very disappointed with the response.
great for a quick spot of lunch and a beer of a weekday
Was apprehensive about eating here due to limited menu but so glad we did. Food was freshly cooked. Service was great especially during these trying times.
Friendly and helpful staff. We went at the end of lockdown, so their stock of beer was way down but I'm sure it will be replenished soon. Socially distanced drinking outside was no problem. Our burgers were a bit gristly. And pricey (£14.50). Ale was about £4.30 a pint so not cheap either. But really good to be back in the pub.
Good pub and quality food great staff brilliant location
The service was great and the environment was ok considering the social distancing in place for health reasons.
Is a very nice pub to visit with a great outside sitting area and great views of the river; normally the food is of a good quality specially the roasts.
I would recommend it and I visit it often when I am around Kingston.
Great for a family get together. Staff friendly, and welcoming.
Considering it was early Friday night, they ran out of chicken pie on the menu. The most shocking was no wine or gin glasses!!! We had to drink out of plastic cups, very poor for 6.30pm on a Friday night!!!!
Will not being going back in the near future!!
Quick pre theatre dinner, great food and large portions. Good atmosphere in a traditional pub
Great food and venue. Table was a little cramped but that's only because it's Christmas time and everywhere is full! They are dog friendly too so huge plus.
Nice enough pub in a good location. Good selection of beers. Food was average but menu is fairly small - and half of it wasn’t available anyway. Service was friendly. Not a place to get excited about.
Great food, lovely accommodating staff. Had a great Sunday lunch.
I came for a roast, the portion size was very very good and all very good quality of food. Only thing I think could be improved was the quality of roast beef, I presume because I came at the start of the day it was tougher meat but other than that the service and setting was at a very high standard and I will defiantly be going back.
Very well manored staff and excellent table service by all
The staff were very friendly and the ambiance was great. Good food and good meal out overall.
Friendly staff great service meal was excellent
We booked to go here for Valentine’s Day, firstly there is no disabled access even though this place is very easy to make accessible and while the food we had was nice it was not what I wanted. Even though we booked half the stuff in particular for vegetarians was unavailable and when I queried why they didn’t really have a reason nor did they offer anything to compensate for lack of food choice available.
This has become our favorite place to go out for a nice meal - the staff are amazing and the food is brilliant. (Book ahead at this time of year if you're going for a Sunday roast - the yorkshire puddings with the beef one are brilliant!)
They have wonderful vegetarian and vegan options, which whilst I'm a meat-eater, are very tempting. Their menu-writers and cooks know their stuff.
Excellent food! Impressive for the reasonable price. Cozy & noisy. Good comfort place for evening with friends.
This pub was nice and lively for eating at 9pm on a Saturday night. The waiter was helpful with taking our order, especially as the menu online didn't match the menu in the place, which caused some confusion, and time was running out to order before the kitchen closed. Better value vegetarian and vegan options with healthier alternatives would have been appreciated. We asked for a veggie salad but it was just a bowl of leaves and some avocado which I thought was not much for £13. We ate in a booth in the bar area which was quite loud and made it hard to have a group conservation. For lively weekend drinks, I could see how this place would be fun. Overall, was a nice place for a post-theatre meal.
We had a very nice evening. Food was delicious and very well presented. Unfortunately 2 of our first choices from the menu were not available and coffee machine was broken. But all the rest was good.
Good Sunday lunch - bit disorganised though
Had a brilliant Sunday Roast here! Lovely pub right by the river, with plenty of outside seating for when the weather's a bit nicer. Great selection of beers, fantastic friendly service and top-class yorkshire pud & roast potatoes :-)
excellent Sunday dinner good local products well cooked and good value for money.
We'd booked a table for later afternoon, in the long interval between two plays at the theatre next door.
We had time before the first play, so called in for a drink - waited for 15 minutes at the bar and did not get served. A barman took my order at one point - then disappeared to fetch some glasses, came back and continued pulling three pints...........for another customer.
We lost all faith that we'd get served properly for the meal we planned.
It does seem that some pubs are not prepared to admit that they cannot serve meals all day when the pub is full of rugby fans.
We had a quite funny evening in nice atmosphere in The Ram as always. Food is good, beverages also. Service friendly and attentive. It is a bit loud, no place to have a difficult conversation :) But therefore entertaining and easy.
Don't bother on a Sunday eve.. nothing left on the menu!
The RAM is never a let down! it always lives up to the bill all year round, yeah its slightly more pricier than some of the pubs in the area but its worth it for sure. Its great that it is by the riverside which creates a unique atmosphere but additionally when its the winter its very cosy and warm inside. One thing I really like is that I have never gone into the RAM and not be able to get a table or seat - this is very rare for a pub in kingston.
We were looking for a pub that was (a) next to the river, (b) had a good selection of beers (c) child-friendly and (d) served decent pub grub. The Ram delivered on all fronts and the fact that we were able to get a table outside on one of the nicest days in the summer was an added bonus.
