The Rec Room - Mississauga Square One
Waiters kept forgetting about us, i had To remind them twice we were waiting for someone to take our orders for foods and drink. Food ( salmon) was tasteless and the salad weird. I odered the spicy chicken sandwich and it was sweet and spicy. We returned them and I am grateful they waived the price for that and we ordered steak instead.
Games were fun, a lot of other dining options around and I’d recommend anything else.
I love the place. The food was delicious. The attractions was awesome.
My wife and I loved it.
Server was only ok. Did not know how the game bracelets worked. Overall the value was not up to expectations. The manager only gave 10% student discount when it’s website specifically states 15%. In addition, as this was our daughter’s 13th birthday which was noted on the Open Table reservation we requested a slice of birthday cake. Unfortunately, the Rec Room failed to acknowledge this and did not fulfill our request. Just another chain more concerned with over priced menu instead of creating a great customer experience. Oh well it is Mississauga so service is not top priority!
Although the dining room was about two thirds empty, we waited to be seated for about 7 minutes, and then waited 15 to order, and another 25 to eat. Pulled pork sandwich was very soggy (probably from sitting there for multiple minutes), and the fries were cold and dried out. Had it been packed, the experience may have made slightly more sense, but given how empty it was, it was all a real disappointment... Honestly can say, I will not return to the dining section of this Rec Room.
The waitress we had was basically nonexistent. We saw her literally 4 times and 2 of those 4 times we had to ask another server where she was. The food was not the greatest. We ordered the 15 layer lasagna and after 20 mins of waiting (still not having received our food), we were told that they were sold out of the lasagna, which I believe should have been notified to us when we first ordered. The virtual reality was a great experience but super overpriced for only 15 minutes of your time.
I would not recommend coming here.
I booked a reservation for my birthday for standard seating but when I came they took me to a High top and said that the standard wasn’t on the reservation, but I know I selected it so we had to wait a little bit for our table. The server was super nice and sweet but the food was cold and flavourless. My kale pesto pasta was stiff and room temp at best, I tried putting salt on it but it didn’t help with the flavour. She offered me anything else on the menu and I choose an app but by the time it got to me I wasn’t really that hungry anymore (but they did rush my order which I did appreciate). The axe throwing was really fun and the arcade was nice but just really packed at the time we went.
I took my son and his friends (7 boys in total) to celebrate his 12th birthday at the VOID followed by lunch at the REC room and gaming at the arcades.
A couple of observations on the boys' VOID starwars experience:
1- for the price paid it was too short! Around 20minutes which I had expected to be 30 minutes. We had gone to DiVerge for my son's birthday last year and the experience was for a full 30 minutes which the boys felt was long enough
2- it was blurry! All 7 boys said that the image/resolution was blurry and they couldn't tell what they were shooting at! They told the attendant that it's blurry and his reply was "it doesn't matter"!! Two of the boys ended up with headaches afterwards and had a bad time at the party afterwards. This was not an issue at the DiVerge last year. The attendant should have placed the head gear properly, to say the least and should have addressed the boys'comments on resolution/blurriness
3- the boys were yelled at!!!! Again all 7 boys said that the attendant yelled at them because they were loud and excited.they said the attendant yelled at them cause they weren't following the story line!!! Seriously! These are boys playing and your employee should be trained to deal with kids as this is an all age experience as advertised!!! Totally unacceptable!!
4- photos. I was told it was not allowed to take photos. Understood. The attendant told me that photos are taken at the VOID and showed me the camera and said that I can collect the photos afterwards. When I returned to collect the boys, the attendant wasn't there and no one showed me any photos! So end result I have no photos from my son's birthday
All this is totally unacceptable and I will never recommend the VOID in square one to anyone I know. Zero value for money, kids with bad experiences and untrained staff.
The place is very good but some of the servers and bartenders are too rude ,especially the lady bartender on main floor .Other than that everything is perfect live music and the games.
Amazing Night Spent.
Good Food and Good Service. Just that service was slow, should be better. Food was hot but too much free time between meal courses
I was a little hesitant to come here for a small birthday dinner party of 4 after reading alot of bad reviews. We made a reservation anyway for 7.28.19 and was pleased with the service and overall experience. Food was great, just wished we didn't order any apps because most of us ordered burger plates and they are massive!! I couldn't finish my spicy chicken sandwich but it was delicious. The game area downstairs was packed and smaller then I expected.. once we finished our points on the games we wanted to bowl but there was only 4 lanes and they were taken because of how busy it got later in the evening on a saturday night. Wished they had more cute prizes to choose from at the redemption store for smaller aged child but overall experience was good.
It was a neat concept. I felt the roast chicken was dry. Otherwise the food was good value for the $$ but not quite worth 4 or 5 stars. The dining area was not as funky as I was hoping it would be. Our waitress disappeared on us for awhile... not coming to ask us if we wanted another drink or to refill our water bottle. I don't think it will be my first choice for dining in the future.
Server didn’t come after 30 mins, we asked the hostess to send someone. 15 mins later no one came so we left
Everything is awesome there except the band. There's a music band that plays there and they are way too loud. You're trying to enjoy dinner and the band is practicing sooooo loud. You can hardly think. I had great service at dinner, the food was awesome, the mini donuts were delicious. My only complaint was the band. The Rec Room needs to make a noise barrier room for the band.
The service was great, but the food was nothing special. I had the three10 burger with bacon and a fried egg. I was expecting it to be very unique. It honestly tasted like a whole bunch of ingredients just thrown together without seasoning. The music coming through the speakers wasn't my style, but that would've been ok if it was the only music playing, but there was a band behind the curtains doing a sound check. My 5-year old daughter couldn't handle battle-of-the-genres, and had to go outside with my wife. It took us a while to order due to the rest of the table to arrive, but once we ordered, the food came decently quick.
Table was not ready for reserved time. Hostess at the back entrance and lady behind the counter to purchase game tags at the front were not very friendly. Server Amanda was amazing.
Not value for money.Super slow service.Unfriedly staff.
I was very hesitant to give a recommendation to this particular location. Overall, it was ok because of the quality and value of the food. We came at a time when it was not busy, however, this speaks for the lack of service we received after our food was served. Not once did any server came to our table for a check up. We called out to the servers a couple of times as they walked by our table. Also, I was not given an option for the beer size and after receiving my bill, I noticed I was charged for the largest size which I was not able to finish. The service desk for the games room was not staffed and we were not informed that we had to go downstairs to pay. There was no sign indicating that the desk was closed and we had to go downstairs. I personally made a suggestion that a small sign should be placed on the desk to indicate patrons to go downstairs. Several families including ourselves would’ve waited for awhile if I had not gone out to seek Rec Room staff. Upon purchasing the bracelets for the games, staff did not explain how it worked as we were first time visitors to the game room. In fact, I had mentioned to the staff behind the cash that it was our children’s first visit.
Our server was efficient and friendly! My salad (beet and goat cheese) was amazing as were the Stacked chips that my husband had. Our son had a very dry, pepperoni pizza...way below average - disappointing for $17.
Very slow service with 3 very hungry kids. The restaurant was not busy. We were disappointed.
It’s was an amazing experience! The service is good; food was good too but not spectacular! Tables and the over layout was very formal and fancy too! The arcade and games and The Shed food was like AMAZING!! Try the donuts! Fresh hot timbits with chocolate! Yes please!
Poor service, poor quality food. Would not go back.
The atmosphere of the place is truly amazing. I really enjoyed how the restaurant area was not over crowded, but it was really noisy at times. The food was amazing as well, I just don't think the waiters walked by enough. If there was something we wanted to order extra, it would take a while to catch a waiter. Other than that, amazing place!
Service was great initially, but towards the end I struggled to find the waitress to order desert and to get the bill.
Food was very good. I felt like there could have been some other main dish options as I struggled to find a meal I wanted (and I am not picky at all). For instance, maybe a butternut squash ravioli, or chicken portobello mushroom pasta or chicken/veal parmigiana. All the ones I mentioned are popular dishes they can get away with adding to their menu.
All in all, for what we preferred, price was reasonable. Even the games were reasonably priced.
Maybe to play game, I would recommend it. But ig you want to have dinner. Forget it! I reserved 2 weeks in advance, we had no server come and ask for our orders as soon as we sat for drinks. My friends received their food except for mine. They were all done but me. When I followed up, the waitress told me the cooks had forgotten, when the pasta was served it was SO SALTY! FOR A TINY PLATE, it wasn't worth $22. Rather go to a way better restaurant.
The food was really bad, but the games were fun though.
Our server was very friendly and overall good service. Reason I would not return is because when we were seated guests that were seated around us had left but their dirty dishes remained on 4 or 5 tables around us for our entire stay and had still not been cleaned one and and half hours after we left. There were a lot of staff and the restaurant was half empty yet the dirty dishes remained on tables all around us. Managers walked right by them and yet did not even see the need to clear the tables if there staff was busy. We went to Rec Room to visit VOID for Father’s Day and have lunch as a family since we had never been to Rec Room before and wanted to see what it was like. VOID was great, dining with dirty tables all around us was really bad. We will not be back.
The service was very very slow considering it was not even that busy.
Father’s Day lunch with the kids. First time visit. We were initially impressed with the ambiance. The server appeared to be a little out of sorts and things were rolling a little slowly considering it wasn’t that busy.
The food was ok. Chicken bites were good, cheese dip just alright, Mac and cheese was very rich, the kids pizza used salami instead of pepperoni and they forgot the chicken in the chicken cob salad.
It’s great that you can go downstairs to the arcade/bowling alley. Reloading the bracelets for the arcade was super easy.
I imagine it’ll be a touch more fun with a group of your buddies later in the day with hopefully more servers.
Overall it was a good time. We’ll be back.
We arrived at around 910pm, and didn’t get our table until 925, even though our reservation was for 915. The table they wanted to seat us at was empty when we arrived but took their time trying to get it ready. Didn’t end up sitting there at it was a very crowded area in the front. Food was decent, but the prices were a bit much. Waitress was decent, I asked for double veg because of dietary restrictions over fries, but got fries opposed to the double veg. Manager swapped the fries. Took a bit of time to come to the table in the beginning. Overall, wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Save your money if you intend to dine there and go elsewhere. The food is a complete disappointment and the lacklustre service drives the message home that there are much better food options in the Mississauga area.
Great family fun
Food was good but service could be better. Order a coke and they ran out of glasses and put my drink in a coffee mug while the server kept walking by me with full glasses of beer. I wasn't impressed.
Our area (about 4 tables) were fairly neglected. It was a big game night, understandable, however it seemed other tables with a different server were constantly being checked in on and promptly served. Had to go search for our server multiple times and even then didn’t get what I ordered.
Worst service ever on my bf birthday. Upon arrival had to wait 20min for our table. Of which I had already made reservations for weeks in advance. When they did give us a table it was behind a pole so we couldn't see the tv. We asked to be moved and they refused servral times. They were claiming it was fine where it was so no one assisted us. Our waiter was nice. But the server was mean she just dropped the food on our table. Cutlery and napkins fell on the floor as a result. She didn't even apologize she just walked away after dropping our food on the table. Needless to say I'll be cooking dinner at home next time.
Came here to celebrate my birthday- what a mistake! Service was atrocious! Made a reservation for 7:15, was passed around to different reception tables. Took 20 mins for the waitress to take our drink order. Took another lifetime to get them and our apps. Then eons to get our mains. The food was ok - nothing spectacular. We all ordered steak. The heirloom tomato salad was the best part of the meal. Not worth the $30 for the main entree.
Gaming area is small and crowded. The aisles are narrow and we kept bumping into people playing. We got the $30 special. You’ll go through credits very quickly and two machines malfunctioned. Again, it took awhile for service to fix it. The guy was nice and apologized for the wait. After 30 minutes or so of playing, we were bored and got out of there.
So much hype, but this place definitely under delivered. You’re better off going to DB where it’s adults only and you can have drinks while playing.
Food ordered was nasty
All soggy and salty
We never got our table on time
Great atmosphere to watch the raptors games. Food was great.
Customer service was terrible. They have no organization when it comes to seating specially when it's game night! I reserved for a standard seats/ table because one of my friend is pregnant, but they gave us high chair/ table instead. After that, it took us 15 minutes before they gave us menu plus another 30mins to get our orders! The manager (I think her name is Courtney) was so not friendly at all! (Maybe because it's a busy night, but still) She never helped out about the situation.
We had a reservation but still had to wait for over 20 minutes to be seated. The front of house staff were not friendly or accommodating. Our server was good but service was slow. Food was subpar for the price. Would not recommend.
