The Red Lion

We had to sit outside as per government guidelines and were seated undee cover and given blankets and pillows. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Not being local it's always difficult to judge what to expect but this pub seems like the perfect alrounder. Good drinks and food options, catering for veggies/vegans and willing to be flexible on customisation.

Excellent food, service and we were looked after very well

The menu was limited as it was the day before lockdown. We had fish and chips and I had a small portion, which was great. The food was hot and tasty and delivered quickly so we enjoyed our last meal before lockdown!

Good check in. Safety always in mind. Shown to our table, menus already in situ. Prompt and friendly service throughout our meal. Food was served hot and good quality.

Pleasant environment, prompt service. Great nachos starter but slightly overcooked fish (large - not really for the price!) which made it more chewy, nice chips, no peas of any description! 🤷🏻‍♀️
Inclined to give them another go as the experience was fine, just some refinements required.

Good social distancing measures. Staff helpful and knowledgeable, keen to hell. Easy parking and a great Sunday roast! Good value too - we were very impressed.

Simple booking proces, attentive staff, very pleasant ambience, good food at competitive prices. I've never had a bad meal at the Red Lion.

A limited menu but what they do, they do very well. Tasty, well presented food served by friendly staff. And the beer is good too! We will be back.

Lovely service, friendly staff, good food in a nice pub setting

Had a lovely Halloumi burger with red pepper, tasted lovely, my husband had surf and turf And the steak was cook exactly how he wanted it and the prawns were large and tasty.
The service was very good, friendly staff.
The only let down was the desert which was apple and plumb crumble which unfortunately was not nice at all, the crumble wasn’t cooked enough and the fruit was dry with no juice Also there was the tiniest jug of custard possible two mouthfuls at most.

Nice place, food is excellent. Really enjoyed their Surf’n’Turf! Creme brûlée was scrumptious too!

First trip back since lockdown.
A big improvement in quality of the food. Simplified menu could get boring after a couple of visits.
Overall good friendly service.
Real ale quality had also improved.
We had a good evening.

We loved the Red Lion under the previous owner, and like it as much under the new management. Very friendly. And the food was mega tasty. We will be visiting again very soon, and have already told our friends.

Lovely food and people I would recommend this for lunch or dinner

The food was lovely, well cooked and promptly delivered. The waiting staff were very pleasant and could not do enough to make us feel welcome, they were very careful to adhere to social distancing and wore gloves to handle plates etc. We were the only people in the restaurant area so there was not much of an atmosphere although pleasant music was playing, it was probably more quiet than usual as it was a Monday. We enjoyed our meal.

Lovely food and service from very kind and positive bar staff.

Unfortunately 3 of our menu choices were not available. The tables are all a little too squeezed in. We have been here before a few years ago and it isn’t as good as it was then I’m afraid.

We were greeted and quickly taken to our table.
We then waited 15 mins to be offered a drink. When drinks came the wine was plonked unopened in an ice bucket with no cloth to serve so drips everywhere.
Food order taken and food quick to arrive.
Poor quality food poorly presented. Rump steak arrived cold.
Not asked if we were happy with the food. No interaction with FOH staff at all.

Great value great tasting food in a lovely environment

My family had a lovely meal and even had entertainment from the Overton Mummers - well done.

Some lovely bits, great steak and potatoes. But also very hesitant service and cold, dry veg. Everything needs to be a littlr bit better to be worth the money.

The friday night menu was not available and the serving staff did not know what it was.
Servers did not know what the soup or pies were that night.
One meal, gammon steak, was stone cold.
Fish was poor for the money. Frozen fish and cheap chips
However we enjoyed the evening and put the poor food down to teething troubles as the chef is new.

The staff are very friendly & the meal was excellent. The plates were lovely & hot, the portion sizes were very good & the sweet was very well presented. ( I had the vanilla cheesecake sundae )

Good atmosphere and great service. We were a group of 8 and specially asked for quick service which we got. One guest got the wrong food but this wasn’t a big problem. However the steak was rather grisly. It wasn’t charged for.
Menu is quite limited with no specials but what we got was good. Puddings were great.
