My best friend brought my husband and me to the red lion inn for lunch. We had a lovely time. The food was fantastic- we had French dip, fish and chips, and salmon. Service impeccable. It’s wonderful! Not to be missed. Lots of history. Like a step back in time.
Prime rib dinner was fabulous. Enough to share with our whole table of four. Expensive, but delicious.
I have eaten at the Red Lion Inn many times. Have taken my six grandchildren to Red Lion Inn when visiting Norman Rockwell Museum. All enjoyed the experience at Red Lion Inn. I highly recommend dining here whether a romantic dinner or family occasion.
Anniversary celebration with friends
Nice, comfortable food was very good. Limited Menu was only negative. Waitress was nice, but forgot a few things. Not a big deal but asking for review.
One of my favorite places. Filled with happy memories.
Charming welcoming staff.
Lovely character of this wonderful old inn keeps us coming back again and again.
First time going for dinner at the Red Lion Inn. First dinner out since the pandemic began and this was for our anniversary. We’ve been for an outside dining lunch once before and that was ok. Hoping this outing would be better than ’ok’. First thing the pricing is way too expensive for what you get. The menu is typical Americana cuisine, not saying that’s bad….Steak, Salmon, Chicken, etc…but not a lot of options to choose from. I got the NY Strip steak and that was almost $50….I’m sorry but that is crazy. The food was just ‘ok’. Probably won’t be going back.
Regional classic back in fine form maintaining superior service. Menu reduced, prices pipped.
The dining room is a charming space and service was excellent. There was a good selection of wines and great cocktails. .
The prime rib and salmon dishes were both good as was the burrata salad and carrot cake. The clam chowder wasn't very distinctive and the popover that came with the prime rib was overcooked.
Overall, a great dining experience.
The turkey dinner is great. All the enjoyment and none of the work.
First, the positive. Beautiful and historic Inn. Open before the Revolution. We were seated quickly and on time with a reservation. Service was attentive and quick. A nice socially distanced table where we could see Main St. There was live music at a pleasant volume level.
Food was good. Just VERY expensive. NE clam chowder was good (better be in Massachusetts) but a small cup was $10.
Classic an elegant historic inn that has a wonderful place in history as the hangout for Norman Rockwell. Lovely decorations abound. Favorite place for turkey and chicken pot pie in the Berkshires. Lounging in the rocking chairs in the porch is a favorite past time.
It was good to be back at the Red Lion after more than a year and half due to COVID. I hope the old Inn is able to ramp back-up to its usual charm and comfort. It sure looked promising this week.
We have eaten at the Red Lion Inn several times over many years, but noticed a definite change. The prime rib and salmon were delicious. However, the salmon portion would not have been enough for most of my family members which included a very small piece of salmon, 4 small pieces of roasted potatoes, 5 small pieces of carrot and one small stalk of broccolini. We realize that many things changed over the last year with Covid restrictions, but had hoped for a great experience which we did not receive. There was only one waiter on the porch taking drink orders prior to dinner and he was run ragged. I do not think we will return and that makes us sad.
Very loud...we were seated at the only table for two in the same room as the bar. People were coming in from outside to order drinks...waiters were constantly passing by our table. If you reserve to sit in the bar/tavern area, ask to be seated in the room off of the bar.
An excellent birthday lunch -- food was great; the service was also great. We had a lovely lunch. We commented on and liked the fact that there were fewer tables, thus less noise and more of a "safe distance" between tables. All the service people also wore masks.
Thank you for your adherence to pandemic guidelines.
We love the Red Lion inn. Great old New England character and charm . Our meals over all were very good. A bit pricey , I think $28 for a pasta entree Witt out protein ( optional for additional charge) pricing is out of line with other comparable restaurants pasta dishes. And at this time of year , spring, would have been better to use sundried tomatoes as opposed to the pale red orange blah winter tomato that was used. Other than that it was tasty and cooked well. And we had a wonderful time
One of our favorite places to visit. Lovely experience as always
Although probably a must on Berkshire itineraries, it’s a tired looking restaurant. The food was only soso. Chmichurri Chicken was just a plain chicken sandwich. No trace of chimichurri. Front Porch cocktail was good.
Nice quiet lunch for me and my daughter. A little pricey but service was excellent and food was good.
Haven't been here for years and it is was just as good as we remembered. Great place for a celebration. BTW: check the menu as it is limited and make sure you find something you like before going.
A very nice visit. Eggs Benedict a bit dry. Service was very good. Jazz in front room was excellent. Value for the money. Staff was quite friendly...felt like a guest.
Unfortunately, my simple meal was not well prepared. I ordered a burger which was at first tasty but was cooked well done when I asked for medium. They seemed busy and I decided to eat it anyway. It ended up being very dry. Also, the service was average as she was curt and not attentive. I would recommend the cocktails and coffee. The bartender was kind and courteous, but the servers need some hospitality training. My mother is undergoing chemo. She forgot she ordered a drink in the parlor and ordered another one from the bartender. The server, Ashley, saw my mother at the bar and thrust the drink into my mother's hand before I knew what was happening. She also made sure to let my mother know she did not appreciate my mother going up to the bartender. When the bill arrived, I was not there and was told by my sister and husband that Ashley AGAIN told my mother how she forgot she ordered a drink from her and how she did not appreciate her going to the bartender. I went to take care of the bill and Ashley was swearing at the bar. She handed me the bill and was quite lovely to me. I ask that this establishment be more caring to its elderly patrons.
Lovely lunch in a charming old Inn with the ambience you would hope for. The special was delicious. The pricing appropriate. Wait staff was attentive.
Loved our experience at Red Lion. Ambiance was classy, elegant, and romantic. Very pleased with our cocktails, delicious meals, and attentive service. Special evening!
Excellent food and atmosphere! You can see that the building must require constant maintenance but it is fun to be in a hotel with so much history. The food was ample. We had the delicious clam chowder, the Red Lion turkey sandwich which was large enough for two, and the salmon on quinoa. There is no dress code which is fine but sad that do many people dress as if they were doing housework!
Food was excellent and served hot ( French dip sandwich). Waitress excellent- Kathleen D- very friendly and personable. Also very attentive to our needs. Visiting the area and will return
A lovely spot for lunch. Unique & quaint, with outside seating available if requested prior. Service and food quality outstanding.
Red lion inn is always a good experience. The food is very good but very overpriced.
Delicious, quiet, totally relaxing. Great place. I imagine it’s a bit crazier in season.
It has a great New England look and feel on top of the delicious food. I highly recommend Red Lion Inn for any Berkshire visit.
Thanks very much for a lovely evening with family. The food and service were wonderful. We so appreciate the level of care and hospitality given to our group over the course of our stay...looking forward to visiting again!
More of a problem with OpenTable than the Red Lion. I made reservations for the Lion's Den at the Red Lion. I received a confirmation from OpenTable for the Red Lion, that read that the confirmation also covers Lion's Den reservations. When we arrived at our reserved time, there was a chain across the Lion's Den door. Our reservations were transferred to the main dining room of the Red Lion, with their menu the only option available. So, instead of getting a tavern style turkey dinner, I got a $35 turkey dinner. It was good, but not what we planned on.
On a plus side, I really like the way they enclosed the front porch. We were able to get a table out there to enjoy the main dining room menu and prices.
Very good meal. Limited menu was the only downside but very good. The salmon was on of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. Matt the server, spot on at every turn.
Overall they continue to deliver a delicious meal, great atmosphere, convenient location, warm and friendly staff. No
The ambiance and staff are superb. We felt comfortable, the staff was attentive, and the food was delicious.
Fabulous!! Our 11 yr old wanted the fancy dining experience and she got it!! Loved everything! Food and service were excellent. We’ll be back!!
Got the job done.
One of the most pleasant afternoons spent in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Just love the “ the throw back” ambience!! Delicious Bloody Mary’s
Chris our waiter was wonderful!!!!
