The Restaurant at Merrill House
Loved the atmosphere, very elegant and the food was delicious! We will be back!
Phenomenal restaurant! Definitely worth the trip & experience. Great service & phenomenal food. Would recommend to anyone!
Seated in the Merrill’s study. Terry gave us a great experience. The Beef Tenderloin w/ Oxtail Main was amazing and The Foie Gras au Torchon was outstanding with the wine pairing. Perfect Anniversary experience.
Had a 25th we'd anniversary dinner there last night. Nice atmosphere in an old Victorian style mansion. Very flexible prix fixe dining options. My husband had 5 courses and I had 3 (but I did share the cheese at the end!). They have wine pairings but we opted for a very good bottle of Tignanello. Good wine list over a wide price range with both local and International wines, champagne list, cocktails, etc. All the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The ricotta gnocchi with lemon beurre blanc and pine nuts was outstanding - light, fluffy, with fresh fried sage leaves as an accent. Foie gras and octopus were also lovely apps. Our mains were lamb racks and veal with tarragon cream sauce (not too creamy/heavy and the mushrooms were amazing). Hazelnut meringue terrine was divine. Service was impeccable. Attentive, not intrusive. Not a cheap meal but for our 25th it was wonderful splurge. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience overall! Thanks very much for a great evening..
It was very romantic! Just wished that there was the option to not order from the price fixe menu
Impeccable service and dining. An amazing place to take a loved one for a special occasion.
The ambience of The Merrill House paired with a creative menu made this a memorable meal.
Service was excellent and fit with the surroundings and a meal of exceptional flavours and quality.
Incredible! Such warm welcoming staff and the food was fine dining. Try the gnocchi!
Loved every moment of our experience. Drinks and meal were amazing. Service was stellar.
THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, THE WAITRESS WAS ALSO EXCELLENT< THE ROOM WAS VERY NICE, BUT, THE COST WAS VERY PRICEY. $ 18.00 FOR A GLASS OF WINE ?? THE COST OF THE ENTREE WAS WAY TOO COSTLY.
The food was extraordinary, we each had a 3 course meal and every dish was served to perfection. With excellent wines and abundance of care, the cellar at Merrill House is a culinary treasure.
Service too slow. Main course was served after sitting 2 hours. Server should advise guests if there is a delay. Food was delicious.
It was our 50th wedding anniversary, and we were treated to a beautiful private dining room, with fireplace roaring and all. Service was unbelievable, knowledgeable, attentive, patient and enthusiastic. The food was one of the best meals we have ever had, and the wine pairings were terrific. Not that we are connoisseurs, but they were explained fully and most enjoyable. Overall, 5 Stars without a doubt. As it was a treat from our children, that was the icing on the cake.

An amazing experience! Food, drink options, service, atmosphere and overall vibe ! Great outdoor courtyard for drinks afterward. Totally recommend Merrill House!!
Amazing dinner and great service. Would definitely come back! Thank you for a great birthday!
A varied selection of options from a solely prix fixed menu. Although the quality of the meals could have been higher considering the price and fact that the chef should be able to produce quality results considering the limited options on the menu that the kitchen has to deal with. Consider other options in the area first.
Delightful experience. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend for a special evening.
Terry knew an impressive amount about wine history and about local PEC wines
We had a wonderful with the wine pairing. Our waiter made some great wine recommendations, taking into account our preferences.
Food was excellent. Service was fine. We were there for 3 hours! Sat by the bar... every time a vehicle went down the driveway the tent lit up and billowed. For that much money? I expected an exceptional experience.
Had a great stay and felt safe with the precautions they took against COVID19! Amazing food and great staff! Felt very welcomed :)
I had the beef tenderloin with oxtail and my wife had the lamb, both were excellent! The service was great and our server was very attentive. The whole experience from arrival to departure was extremely pleasant. Whilst a little expensive, it is worth it for a special occasion.
The Food and Service was over the top. We had the 4 course dinner, and it was amazing. The Chef is very creative, and all tastes are fantastic. Thank you for a great evening.
Food was excellent. Would dine here again. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not totally accessible, even for the able-bodied.
It is very expensive, but if you want to give someone a great treat, go for it. Food is interesting and perfectly prepared and presented.
The food was very good. The price was very high. We don't mind paying more when the service is excellent but it was not. Server arrived at the table to take our pre-dinner drink order and wanted us to order dinner at the same time. We had to slow her down so we could enjoy our dinner. Once dinner was finished it took ages to for her to come back to see about desert, coffee. Really not the level of service I would expect for the type of menu and prices. I would still recommend because to food is very good, but I would preface that service may not be what expected.
Our friends had eaten there few years ago and they wanted to go back. They were surprised by the new prices but we all thought that we will have a tasting experience at $90 for 3 courses. My first course of foie gras was good but very small( a square inch of foie gras) with delicious little toasts. My main course was veal in a cream and mushroom sauce. I love veal and I make this recipe at home and thought that I will learn something in this nice pricey restaurant. The veal was not tender at all and it was hard work to eat it. The sauce had no taste ( like if they put terragon in water and a bit of cream) it was not a sauce it was very runny. I would have expect wild mushroom( chanterelles or other) but it was the ordinary mushroom that you buy anywhere. I was not able to eat the meat but the vegetables were good. My dessert were 3 profiterolles with pistachio ice cream. The presentation was nice but the profiterolles were not better than the frozen one that I buy at métro. So we were very disappointed. You know the feeling that somebody took avantage of you. The service was just ordinary. A very nice person doing her best but not what we paid for. Our second night was a special dinner. Small restaurant, not expensive but the food was impressive. So we have decided not to have dinner to fancy restaurants anymore but try to discover the newcomers.
It was a great experience. Duck breast was delicious.
Absolutely fabulous in all areas!
well adapted to react to challenges of Covid
had dinner each night for three nights
... one in a private porch
plenty of food and great local varieties
.. enjoyed local wines
Definitely worth booking dinner for the ambiance. The food ranged from excellent (tomato salad and lemon dachoise dessert) to fair for the pickerel and veal.
This was our first in-restaurant dining experience during COVID-19, and it was a wonderful evening - from the warmth of the reception, the thoughtfulness of the serving staff, the awesome food and wine pairings, to the warm embrace of the room, it was truly a special And memorable evening.
We will be back!
The food was very good. The service also was good. But it was very expensive, even compared to Toronto restaurants. The music was awful. It was a poor version of smooth jazz, whch in turn, is a poor version of real jazz.
Great food, great introduction back into fine dining after Covid. My girlfriend and I were very pleased with our experience at Merrill house. Would recommend
The food and service was spectacular! It was above our expectations. We will definitely be back again!
Absolutely amazing food and service. Perfect night
Just before we left to go to the restaurant, we saw quite a bit of negativity on the reviews. We went with an open mind. Our experience was fantastic. Service was professional, knowledgeable and prompt.
We did the 5 course with local wine match up..and both the cuisine and wine pairing were great. Octopus, Gnocchi and Duck, followed by a very large cheese plate and refreshing dessert.
Tables in the wine cellar were properly spaced and the ambiance was perfect. Our experience was excellent.
We had an amazing evening at the Restaurant at Merrill House, thanks primarily to our waiter/sommelier Thierry, whose wine pairings were simply magical. Thierry's exceptional knowledge of both local and import wines was truly masterful, and his energy and passion for food and wine permeated the atmosphere and made our experience even more wonderful. Thanks to all for a memorable evening.
