We had reservations for just before sunset. We were given the choice of either of two very small tables near the windows or being seated outside at fire pit tables already occupied by other guests. Our table would have been fine for just drinks but we were ordering appetizers and it became very cramped very soon. Our waiter was completely frazzled although not even half of the tables were occupied. He voiced how frazzled he was. Multiple times. We weren’t in a rush and expressed this to him to help calm him. I don’t know…maybe they translated into “We’re good with not seeing you like ever!” Another staff person delivered our apps and we had to ask another for water. This was the third time we’ve tried this amazing rooftop with incredible views but it seems they’re riding that and not much else. The apps were so-so and my cocktail was strong in a bad way. Husband got a beer. I guess unless we’re going with a group, this was strike three.

During our recent stay at The Tremont House in Galveston, we spent an evening at the rooftop bar — and it truly became one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. Sitting above the historic Strand District with beautiful views and a relaxed coastal breeze creates the perfect setting to unwind. The drinks were absolutely amazing — well-crafted, balanced, and clearly made with attention to detail. Every sip felt intentional and elevated. The appetizers were even more impressive. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, they paired perfectly with the cocktails and made it hard to choose a favorite. It’s rare to find a rooftop bar that executes both drinks and food at such a high level. But what truly made our experience exceptional was the friendliness and genuine customer service from the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly and treated with such attentiveness and kindness. The team went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Their energy and hospitality elevated the entire evening. If you’re staying at The Tremont House — or even just visiting Galveston — the rooftop bar is an absolute must. Amazing drinks, delicious bites, and outstanding service made for a memorable experience we can’t wait to repeat.

This was our first visit since the renovation was completed.We went there for cocktails before dinner. We tried the old fashion, the bird of paradise, and the Hawaiian wave. The bird of paradise was the least favorite. Our waitress, shy, was very friendly and impressed us with the drink order and special requests without writing anything down. We did not order any food but everything going past us looked great. It was a fun place and we will return.

I had high hopes for this rooftop bar, but unfortunately, our experience started off on the wrong foot. Despite having a reservation, the hostess was completely absent when we arrived—and none of the staff seemed to know where she was. We were eventually offered a couch in the corner that looked more like a waiting area than an actual table, which felt dismissive and unorganized. We were told we could try to find our own table outside, but there was nowhere to sit. When we asked the bartender for help, she told us she had no idea because she was “just the bartender.” All the while, we could clearly see several open tables that no one offered to seat us at. The only bright spots in the night were our server Michael F., who was friendly and attentive, and the manager who comped our first round of drinks in an effort to make things right. I appreciate that gesture, but the poor front-of-house experience left a sour taste overall. I hope they can improve their organization and professionalism at the front—because the setting and drinks have potential, but first impressions matter.

I was expecting more outdoor seating. It was a little crowded both indoors and outdoors.

The rooftop bar has good service and good drinks. The view is great. However I made a reservation for dinner and drinks and when I saw the food menu I was puzzled. Seemed more like appetizers to me. We did enjoy a nice pretzel and good drinks. A good place for a drink but maybe go downstairs or to MarMo cafe or Hubcap grill for a dinner.

One of my favorite spots in Galveston! The setting (especially outside) is great for an intimate drink or martinis with friends. Be sure to make reservations … it’s worth it!!!
