Always great, well-kept beer and delicious pub food.
Lovely food and fantastic service. Would highly recommend.
Covid friendly late Sunday Lunch with the family. Food was lovely, staff friendly and we felt covid safe
Customer service could be improved. I guess they are still not familiar with the service at the table.
It was lovely to be back at The Royal Stag after lockdown. The food didn't disapoint. The salmon was wonderful. I will be back.
Was seated in separate room from pub no atmosphere, chips overcooked ,if you wanted drinks you had to wait for bar staff as there was no one in this area. Was very disappointed , when you book a meal in a pub you expect to be sitting in it.
Everything about the pub and Sunday lunch was great only letdown were the people on the table behind me - talking way to loudly - spoilt the ambience of the pub lunch
Excellent traditional Sunday lunch, served by efficient & courteous staff. V.handy to have as a 'local pub'.
Enjoyed visiting this place. Good was good and they were very understanding with the little ones in our group.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Good atmosphere with a roaring fire. Highly recommended
Delicious pie! Lovely setting and good, fast service.
Great food. Covid measures felt very safe. Staff very friendly.
my favourite pub to go for food. The steak and ale pie is one of the bests I've ever had. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.
With the new covid restrictions the royal stag still makes you feel safe with all the new measures in place.
Booked table online, which really helped. Impressed that any person without a face mask was turned away
Excellent food and a good pint service was good as well and at short notice
We live locally and love The Stag. It’s everything a traditional village pub should be. The food is great, particularly the Sunday roast which is delicious and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.
Enjoyed the food and it was quiet as not many customers. Sat outside and disappointed no garden/grass/,flowers so felt basic but spacious.
Service was generally good although we had to remind them we were there to order.
Great time but staff need to communicate more, had to order our drinks three times and ask twice for sauces. Deffo go back great value
Nice little pub, went for a drink on the way back from dinner. Always has friendly staff
What was previously the car park has been turned into extra outside seating which is a good idea for distancing measures, so for those driving, Horton Rd car park is maybe 100m away if that (cheap rates, free after 6pm). Venue is nice, with a covered outside seating area detached from the pub itself, in addition to the already mentioned extra seating. May be worth mentioning you’re a non smoker if you don’t want to be put outside near smokers. Not sure if that’s something they’ll be able to accommodate on busy nights, but worth asking. Atmosphere was lively during my visit there. So far pretty good, but it was let down massively by the service. Upon entering, it took several minutes to even be acknowledged, before being taken to our table. Worth mentioning there weren’t any extra safety precautions being taken it seems, bar a small shield on the counter and an empty hand sanitiser on the wall. Got the impression the staff were juggling too many things at once as we had to ask for cutlery and jug of water a couple of times before it came. We ordered a starter, two mains and 1 alcoholic drink. Under the eat out to help out scheme it came to just under £25, saving almost £20. The starter took an hour to arrive and was not even hot. “Breaded Brie” - 2 wedges of lightly breaded Brie with a small ramekin of mango chutney and a few salad leaves. Usual price around £7. Not great value for money there. Main course also took around an hour to come. A Caesar salad which was fine, hard to get it wrong really, and the lamb shoulder. The lamb itself was nice and was actually hot, but the vegetables and the lumpy mash underneath it weren’t. After finishing, asked for the bill which came very promptly indeed. It probably won’t be my first choice the next time I go out, but perhaps on a quieter night it could be better. My experience in short - nice pub, good atmosphere, decent food, poor service
If you are looking for a safe place to dine, this isn't the right one for you now.
No a single stuff wears mask, no safety distance respected.
Food is good and staff friendly.
We attended post lockdown and was impressed with the outdoor area and spacious indoor seating they have built in the car park.
Service was ropey to be honest. Lots of different staff served us and condiments etc kept being forgotten.
Food - our burgers were v tasty and decent size but there were about 6-8 chips with each. The kids goujons didn’t look great. My husband had the fish and chips and couldn’t eat it but they handled this well. Overall due to my husbands meal I doubt he will want to return.
The burger & chips is very good. One of the best I've ever had anywhere.
Real ale, however, has fallen off a cliff. Pre-lockdown, it was perfect. Now it seems no one bothers to checks the taste. At around £5 a pint, this needs attention. Feels like they no longer know how to look after it.
London Pride has tasted a bit off last 3 times I've been there (since re-opening in July) and most recently Windsor & Eton Knight of the Garter wasn't great either.
It's probably hard in the current climate with lower volume. But if it's not selling quickly enough to keep all of them fresh, just sell only one real ale.
And are the lines being cleaned properly? Please work out what's going on. Real ale is the thing that keeps me coming back to the Royal Stag, even if the food is great.
Great staff great food great evening !!!!
Superb, food, friendly staff and a great experience. Catered for my daughter who has celiac disease superb experience.
Great food. Top service. The girls were overworked and still did a great job. Food was great.
We decided last minute to stay in Windsor on Tuesday night and The Royal Stag was the only place we could find online that could accommodate us at 6.45pm (we have a 3 year old) and what a great choice, excellent food (particularly the King Prawn starter), great service and ambience. Highly recommend and we will be sure to stop in again when next in Windsor.
We had a lovely meal at the Royal Stag - first time. However, when I got home and checked the bill thoroughly I noticed that we had been charged for a drink (possibly two) which we did not have. Despite my getting in touch via their website to point this out, I have not received any kind of acknowledgement and it is now nearly two weeks.
I am sure this was an honest mistake, but the fact that my comments were ignored spoilt the experience for us.
It was quiet when we went but looke like it could be quite lively when full
Arrived to a queue at the front door and found one person at the bar trying to fill both the bar orders and table service orders. We were assured that the service would be ok. Gave up after waiting 20 min for drinks to arrive. We were starving and the there was little prospect of having our food order taken. Very disappointed, the reviews seemed really good. Judging by the state of the menus and the service, it was doubtful that the food would have been any good.
Reasonable food, but very slow service, waited 50mins for starters, which then came with mains. Was offered a second drink but walked off before we could answer. Our first bill was someone else’s.
Lovely pub, excellent service - staff extremely good and friendly, the good was wonderful. Very quiet but its a strange time to be going to a pub for a meal! The menu was good and the food was delicious. Good portion sizes well presented. We went as a family and our children (8 and 11) felt listened to (which meant that they could be calm and quiet).
Very enjoyable experience, thank you.
Dumped us out in the conservatory area outside and forgot about us. Service from the waitresses was shocking. Had to get us several times and go and ask for service. Waitress had a poor attitude, snatching things from hands, shrugging her shoulders and rolling her eyes when asking for something. Cleared half of the plates from the table before everyone had finished eating. Shocking. Used to love this pub but it has gone downhill so much. Won't be returning here.
I went there for the Sunday Roast. I ordered the beef one but the £13 that I paid were too much for the plate: 2 small piece of beef full of nerves, the vegetable were good.
For dessert I ordered the chocolate cake with icecream, it was delicious.
I hope that they will change the roast, the pub was really nice!
Mixed review, first time here. Appears to be set up for COVID but wait staff don’t wear masks or wear them on their face (under nose or under chin). We had plenty of space and didn’t feel close to diners.
Menu was different to the website but good options. Starter was good, we both opted for the pie for our main which was outstanding. Chips were great but mash was a bit bland. Service staff were scarce and we had to shout for condiments as they were rushing around.
Really friendly welcome & service throughout our evening. No corners cut with the food or taste. Looking forward to our next visit.
Very friendly service, large portions. A good Sunday lunch experience
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch after the remembrance service on Sunday -party of 5
Lovely pub grub
Lovely meal. Freshly prepared, good size portions and reasonable prices
