The food and ambience is always outstanding. Such a lovely dining space. The Lamb Hoggett went down very well as did the Guinea fowl. Excellent cheese board and delicious sweets. Would highly recommend if you are in the Cotswolds.

Atmosphere was none existent in the Afternoon Tea lounge, no background music and although we were the only two in the room, they set out table in a corner behind a door. Food, in our opinion, didn't represent good value for money at £35/ per head, and was uninspiring. Choice of tea blends was good, but after being served we never saw the waiter again until the receptionist had to page him so we could pay. Food portions too small, and it didn't compare favourably with other Afternoon Teas we have experienced around the world.

Overall the experience was good. The afternoon tea room was fully booked so the staff looked constantly rushed but they were pleasant and attentive, although we had to ask for our champagne. The food was amazing - tasty and fresh (the bread was so soft) and the scones were melt in your mouth! We’ve been to several afternoon teas - this one didn’t feel that special which was a shame given the setting and price.

We booked dinner here during our stay in the Cotwsold, although we were staying at a hotel in Upper Slaughter. We had three dinners during our stay and I am afraid this one came in third. Why? Well, have to say service was pleasant and polite, with a smile, which makes you feel at ease.The The food is very good and has decent flavour, but at these prices it should in all fairness. The dining room is a little dated. The wine cost is quite frankly over the top, compared to the other two places we had dinner at, they were of a similar cost in terms of food. The wines are overpriced by at least 10-15% compared with elsewehere and we ate at two other very good and highly rated locations. Then the bottle of white wine shows up warm, not acceptable at these prices. In fairness it was put on ice but only reached the correct temperature half way down the bottle. The dining room was only half full and for an Easter Saturday that is not a good sign. My overall opinion is that the hotel has a great location, but needs some changes. It must be great having a captive audience but never forget we do have a choice of where to eat and stay. The Cotswold is getting great attention right now, but be careful, living in London I can tell you places and restaurants/hotels can go out of fashion quickly. A few small changes would make the world of difference to your bottom line.

Very disappointed with our afternoon tea experience which we had pre-booked. We were seated next to the hotel reception area and were disturbed by people coming and going and chatting. Our first pot of tea arrived 5 minutes before everything else did and later on we had to go and ask for our 2nd pot of tea at the reception desk. Sadly on leaving we saw another area where other people were also having tea. This room was away from the reception area and appeared to have enough extra space. Sadly we can't recommend this venue for afternoon tea.

Thank you for your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear your visit did not meet expectations. Dave, you were seated in our Library lounge, where we regularly serve afternoon tea. While it is adjacent to reception, this is a space many guests enjoy, so we were somewhat surprised by your comments regarding disturbance. That said, we do have alternative lounge areas available and would have been happy to move you had we been made aware at the time. I also apologise for the delay in service and for needing to request additional tea, this is not the standard we aim for and I will discuss this with the Restaurant Manager. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again in the future.
