The Smack Shack
Lobster Roll Connecticut Style
Lobster Mac & Cheese
Taleggio, Sweet Corn, Breadcrumbs
Original Lobster Roll
All entrees were well prepared and good. Fun atmosphere and good food. Cost might be a little high for the final product but still a great evening.
Fun place for dinner and drinks. My only complaint is that in looking over my bill, I noticed a $4.23 charge that I didn't recognize. The server told me that it is a charge for restaurant staff medical insurance and assorted costs. I replied that companies typically fold this charge into their product costs. The server removed the charge from my bill and instead, I added that amount, plus 20% to her tip. Very strange that a restaurant would itemize an additional cost for staff health insurance and associaTED COSTS.
It was great food and ambiance
It was wonderful. We were celebrating a birthday and the waitress was perfect fir us. Don’t walk, run it’s a great place.
Lobster salad was nearly all claw meat that was highly over cooked. Waiter became inattentive after we ordered.
They were busy for a Tuesday but enjoyed our meal as always
The food is always excellent. Price is a bit high for some items. Menu prices just raised by 2-4 dollar each. I paid cash and still got the 4% service charge. I had said it was a birthday and it was never Acknowledged.
We had a nice table and waitress was not overly attentive.
Great food, service was exceptional. The restaurant felt welcoming. Glad to see it was getting full when we left.
Love this place! Great food and service! Their patio is a great place to eat as well, love the location!
Service was phenomenal! Food was great! Would absolutely recommend.
Always fantastic - great food and service
Birthday. Wish you could make reservations for parties larger than 4!
service was fast, the food was fresh and tasty, and we had a really good time
This was our first visit to Minneapolis's North Loop. The neighborhood is vibrant with activity, bars, and restaurants. Many of the establishments are very good. The Smack Shack is outstanding! The food is wonderful, but the service is even better. Nick was attentive without being intrusive and helped us navigate the menu by inquiring what we liked. Once he assessed our tastes, he guided our selections to create the perfect meal. We will most certainly return to this Twin Cities gem.
Smack Shack has the best seafood in Minneapolis, period. The Chef/Owner, Josh Thoma, personally came my our table and greeted us and when we were done with our dinner, took us on a tour of the kitchen. What an operation! This man KNOWS his seafood and taught us how to buy the right lobsters! For a Flyover Country restaurant, Smack Shack is the BEST!
As usual, outstanding food and service. Can't wait to go back!!
The food was fabulous as usual!! The servers are excellent!!
Awesome and delish!
Dined for a birthday. We were seated outside, which was lovely! The table was off of the main patio so it was slightly a weird location given how close we were to the alleyway and street. But it was quieter so better for conversations!
The food was great as always! The crab cake appetizer and lobster guacamole are must-trys. Both pack a lot of flavor. We all had either the warm or chilled lobster rolls. A classic with fries, or your choice of other sides. Definitely a filling and delicious meal! The new cocktails are also fun. Cheech and Chong are fruity and come in big glasses, and the spicy margarita is great if you like a kick!
We were running late but we’re still able to keep our reservation. The service was great. Food tasted wonderful. Best lobster roll in town. Prices have gone up, but they have everywhere.
Awesome food and service . Staff very friendly!! Will go again
Try the red snapper ceviche! The South Bay Blonde Oysters were the best.
Seated upstairs even with a reservation. Isolated. Server was terrific. Food was very tasty. Restaurant was quite hot, especially upstairs.
The lobster roll was very unimpressive, bland. Would have liked butter served on the side. Shrimp Po-boy was good. Burger was excellent. No sense of urgency to return.
Every time we are in the Twin Cities we visit Smack Shack for Connecticut lobster roll and lobster Mac and cheese!!
A beautiful evening with the doors open, good food, good service.
The food was fantastic! Service struggled a little due short on staff, but as attentive as capable.
The Smack Shack had appeared on Triple D so we thought it would be a great place to try something new. Hubby and I like to get out of our norm so thought this would be a great place to start. The food was amazing. We started with the beignets. They were light and fluffy with lots of powdered sugar. So good. We did the lobster boil with added shrimp. It was plenty of food for us to share and still had some leftovers. We will definitely be back!
Valentino was superb. Thank you! We love smack shack.
Overall the food was very tasty. One order though did not seem to match the description on the menu. The place was VERY load, it was nearly impossible to have a conversation at our table.
Haven't been the Shack since the pandemic hit. Was good to be back. Food was good, though the menu was a bit different from the one on the web site. All food was delivered piping hot, which was great. Our server, Chele, was amazing. Great energy, quick with recommendations, very observant (one of the dishes came out without bacon bits, which she promptly corrected), attentive, without hovering, and always listening.
Server was great! Took long time for food to come though.
Great brunch. Great time with wife and kids. Lobster roll and peel and eat shrimp ordered for the 10th time. Need to go more often so I can get more than just my favorites. Wife’s crab cakes were great and kids ate their food and all my fries.
Great experience! Our group of 4 enjoyed it immensely. None of us had been there before. I'm sure we'll be back.
First time. Not disappointed. Food as good as we expected
We sat on the patio outside in the shade and had a great time. Staff were great and the food was delicious.
Food was kinda of bland I had the shrimp boil.
Outdoor seating was very nice but a little loud with some cars racing on Washington Avenue. Food usually very good, but this time the lobster in the Connecticut roll was overcooked.
Excellent seafood and fun atmosphere. Got the peel and eat shrimp, which was a great size for two. Loved the Po' Boy sandwich. Will definitely be back.
