The worst Customer service I ever experienced.
Only one person taking orders.
Took around 50 min to take ours, the manager started arguing with us, treated us as they don't need any clients.
Not sure if I am going to give a second chance to the Stables.
A really nice local venue for us. We had a lovely evening. All was excellent and I would have no hesitation based upon our experience in recommending. 😃
With the Covid-19 issues we were a little wary about a visit. However, we felt totally safe. We were well distanced from other diners and the staff were masked and kept their distance as much as possible. The food and wine were excellent with an acceptable gap between courses. It was also very nice to be presented with a carafe of tap water without having to ask. The kitchen was also very accommodating arranging a vegetable swap (essential as I hate sprouts!!). Perhaps the only negative (for me) was the lack of a fresh fruit or simple ice cream/sorbet option for dessert. Overall a very pleasant evening out.
Lovely new clean restaurant with friendly efficient service and excellent food. Clearly freshly prepared and served hot. Beautifully decorated. Lots of space.
Such a lovely, cozy, calm and welcoming atmosphere met us at The Stables. The food was faultless, as was the service. At a time where it is difficult to feel relaxed in a restaurant, the staff at the Stables made it feel like things were normal again.
A very disappointing visit.
The food was delicious however it was cold. It was served on a skillet plate which should have been warmed through or if not, the food served hot.
We did not mention this at the time, as we had complained of a draft from the staff side door which was constantly being used, despite sitting next to the fire! The waitress offered to put more logs on, but the heat was lost when the door was opened. So unfortunately not the cosy warm setting I had imagined.
Therefore, when the food came out cold, we didn't want to make a bigger fuss, but the whole experience was ruined. We did pass this feedback on at the end and sadly for the expense, it was a big let down.

Overpriced food, the new layout has lost the ambiance it had before with the lower level now removed .
Had a lovely meal here with Family the evening before lockdown began. Food was incredible, the staff were lovely and the new restaurant looks amazing! Big thank you to Maria, Rashvan and Nadia for being so welcoming.
We-four of us- enjoyed our first visit to the newly opened Stables. Well laid out and decorated room. Nice touch with the layout in the form of stalls in a stable
Service fine as there were four of us. Not sure if reaction would be quite the same if as a single or a couple.
Food very good, it is a quality versus quantity decision, We appreciated the former, and our friends although initially a bit concerned at the quantity on the plate for the main course, were very satisfied on both counts at the end of the meal.
Food was presented nicely but wasnt prepared to a high enough standard for the price paid and was not warm enough. No weekly lunch menu also staff didnt seem very friendly.
Went to the stables on Tuesday just before lockdown, we were very impressed, lovely food, nice atmosphere and a overall really lovely place! We can’t wait to go back once we are all allowed out again.
Highly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed.
All covid measures in place, warm greetings and taken to our spaced out table. Food and service was excellent and we were not rushed in any way.
Overall a great evening
Good food . No atmosphere and cold in dining room. Maybe some warm lighting , interior design and bit more heat would help. Music could be a bit more upbeat as it was quite depressing . We had money off our mains which was great but a service charge of £9 was added which was a bit much. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to supporting our local hotel and business but left feeling very disappointed. Sadly we won’t be back.

Miltons at Cantley House is a lovely venue for a meal out. The service was was good and the food was excellent.
Nice hotel with a pleasant atmosphere. The food, especially the starters, was very tasty. The waiters were good but one of them was not wearing their mask properly. The other odd thing was receiving a pint of bitter and table water in plastic cups. We paid £80 for two starters, two mains and three drinks which again seemed a little bit of the expensive side. We enjoyed it but there are definitely better valued options out there.
Overall quite good but slow service at the start and the steak was overcooked
The Sunday menu was a bit limited but the overall quality of the food was good. Although I rated the restaurant as quiet, when we first arrived, there was a family with two children who did raise the noise level a little. The Covid precautions were acceptable although one waiter did not have his nose covered with a mask. We have enjoyed Cantley for many years but were disappointed to hear that the emphasis was moving from fine dining to more family oriented dining to serve the new housing estates. We will continue to visit but for those 'special' occasions it sounds as if we are going to have to try to find an alternative.

Superb food in stunning setting. Service was outstanding. Didn’t really see the point of the piped music, but otherwise absolutely flawless.
Fabulous Sunday lunch. I had lamb and it was truly amazing. I never had lamb like this before, tender and full of flavours.

Very long wait for food. Main course ok. My husband is gluten free and had to leave the batter. Some restaurants are now doing GF fish and chips. No choice of GF puddings. I had sticky toffee which is about the worst one I have ever had. Think it may have been cooked in the microwave. It was rubbery. Waiter and waitress were lovely. It wasn't their fault.
Thank you for your feedback. I am surprised at your harsh rating, since we both offer a wide range of gluten free items on the menu and our Sticky Toffee pudding is one of the most popular deserts. Our Pastry Chef is renowned for the desserts we offer and clearly something must have gone wrong with your pudding for which I apologise. I have passed your comments on to the Chef.
Food & service was fantastic. There were clear Covid measures in place. Overall a great experience. & I drove from London to try the food.

Our Sunday lunch at Cantley House was delicious. It really was one of the best Sunday roasts I have had in a long time. However, the wine list was a huge let down with a choice of three wines, all of which were not great. The house white was terrible and we could not even finish one glass, let alone a whole bottle. I could not recommend this restaurant to someone who prefers wine with their lunch rather than beer or spirits.
Really friendly and had light music playing in the background. Food was exceptional and will definitely go back again.
Good food and great price, took a some time to come out, not ages and we took it as a good sign that the food was freshly made
Lovely intimate restaurant with a very nice ambience.
We rembered going here befire. Restaurant is in a separate outbuilding to the hotel. No ambiance at all. Far too quiet. Only other diners were probably residents and very few of them anyway. Hardly any wines. Food was good generally though. After dinner liquers served in plastic cups!

Booked as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday and the food was lukewarm at best.
Initially we were seated and weren’t given any menus at all. We waited for a fair amount of time before flagging a staff member down to assist us. This would be the only thing I could find any fault with at all. After this we were served promptly and our food was outstanding. The baked Camembert and pork belly were just amazing, I would definitely recommend them

Visited as part of the eat out help out scheme. Service was certainty not provided with a smile and slightly surprised no masks worn by waiting staff. Food was really nice and made more reasonably priced by government discount otherwise was a bit expensive for small portions ( I had 10 chips and no salad with my steak). Only major annoyance was 12.5% service charge, for no service, added to bill rather than optionally added on payment. I had after all to beg for salt to add to my chips and was never offered another drink for this supposed premium service ! We paid tip, although we could have had removed, but don’t think I’ll return.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed our food. We employ a top chef and all our produce is freshly made on the day from local suppliers. This is reflected in prices which are in line with many other good quality gastro pubs. It is a common practice that the optional service charge is automatically added on to the bill. As you can appreciate, service charge goes to all restaurant staff including chefs and porters who work extremely hard to provide best food and service.
Wonderful food, very pleasant staff, restaurant very busy so service a little slow but a 5 star experience.

No atmosphere inside. Plastic glasses for drinking? Why when using proper plates and cutlery. Not cheap but ok as used dove out to help out

Our restaurant is currently being refurbished, therefore seating is mainly outside or in the Briar that normally is the venue for parties and weddings. Covid rules imposed by the Government make it difficult for hospitality business to operate. The disposable cups, paper napkins, disposable menus, salt, pepper and sugar in sachets are the measures to comply with Covid rules.
