The Standard: A Refined Kitchen
The service and servers were exceptional- drink recommendations were on point. Food playing was very on trend. But, the seasoning was bland and all our dishes were lukewarm. My meatloaf was so dense it was hard to chew.
Please let this establishment change their menu on this website/app. It is outdated and I made my decision to book based on the menu from this site. When I mentioned it to the hostess I was told they are not able to based on this sites parameters.
Terrific gourmet burgers. Saturday night was not crowded at all - very surprising.
Absolutely disappointing. This is our last time for sure. This is absolutely not what we have come to experience from a Rick Erwin restaurant. My drink, Vodka Collins was not even made properly. Our waitress was not at all attentive to us....waiting for the opportunity to get second glasses of wine and out of water throughout the meal. Two of the four dishes were Luke warm, not close to being hot. To many times listening to “I’m sorry”. Bob. 864-433-1814
The restaurant had the old textile mill smell. Not very busy which is not a good sign. Granted we did eat at 530 but even at 615 when we left only a few people. Food was average. My meatloaf was dry.
Delicious food, excellent service, overall wonderful experience!
Excellent food and prices!
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere.
We’re not that crazy about the new menu. The prime meatloaf meal was excellent but the Rick’s Chopped Salad was very disappointing. The Standard needs to consider using the same ingredients as offered at Rick Irwins’s West End Grill. We’ll probably be back but will order something different.
Good restaurant..a little pricey for lunch menu!
I had the danish baby back ribs. The ribs tasted like they had been prepared days earlier and reheated in the microwave. They were horrible. My wife had the ground prime sirloin meatloaf and is was at best okay. I will definitely not return. The server was great. Beer was cold.
Good food but not to the degree of the cost for the quality. Not impressive with ambiance either.
I ordered ribs and they were so spicy hot I couldn't eat them nor the collards because they too, were spicy. My friend ordered meatloaf and the sauce on it had a burnt taste. I feel like the waiter should tell you that the sauce is spicy hot as a lot of people do not care for the hot spice on their food. However, Parmesan chicken was ordered and crab cakes and they enjoyed theirs. Needless to say, two of us just made the choice in our food order. I would tell others to ask about the sauces and then make their choice.
Food was good and delivered to table soon. Waitress frequently checked back to see if anything needed.
We went for dinner, menu was different , was missing the salad with fried chicken and the Cuban sandwich which were our favorites.
The brunch was amazing, especially the cheese grits. Everything was prepared exactly to our specifications. Will continue to make this restaurant one of our favorites
Delicious!! Meatloaf is incredible. Definitely lived up to all the hype!!!
Love The Standard! Our food & service was terrific! We’ll be back again soon!
When we arrived at 8pm maybe 5 tables seated. Menu looked good but no bread. Food was average, service below average. By the time we finished dinner 9:30 we were the only table left. Staff started cleaning up and I had to call out loud 5 times to get my check. Cool building but I dont see it making it!
A very nice setting with a menu that is sure to have something for everyone. Good place for family and friends to gather for dinner.
It was good not great. It was Prom Night so that did not help. The seating was a little confined and some kind of machine noise (maybe a vacuum) was bothersome early during the dinner. I had the twin filets and they were very good. Others were not impressed with the stuffed flounder or the ribs. The server was nice and attentive and the manager stopped by our table as well.
I really enjoyed everything. Our food was outstanding. I really excited about inviting my friends and family to the Standard for a awesome meal.
One day in advance we had made reservations by phone at your restaurant for Sunday, April 21 st, "Easter Sunday". Upon our party's prompt arrival of 8 people, we were told our table was not yet ready for us. We found this to be odd since we had made reservations and had arrived precisely on time.
While our party of 8 waited, some of us had to stand while others sat in the entrance/foyer area for approximately 20 to 25 minutes waiting for our table. What really drove our group to being angry was that when we were escorted to the table, the table turned to be the one that was right in front of us while standing and waiting in the entrance area. We all had watched this table and can report that absolutely NOTHING was done to it. It was already prepared and ready to receive a part of 8 people.
How does one explain the 20 -25 minute wait for a table already prepared? There is no explanation, as there will be NO RETURN of customer in this party!
The service and food here were both spectacular. This was the group’s first time at The Standard and the Easter brunch option was great. We all hope to be back soon!
I took my three children, two in college and one in high school, to The Standard for brunch on Easter Sunday. The menu had a relatively limited selection but we prefer that to having too many choices. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and the others all ordered chicken and waffles. The eggs were not perfectly poached and the waffles were dry but otherwise, everything was delicious. The potatoes and chicken were stand-outs. Our server was charming and efficient. He definitely made the visit even better. We all highly recommend.
perfect for first date, is a quite, nice, elegant place where you can have a perfect firs Date!
Some of entrees ,mainly chicken dishes, were overcooked. The wait for our food was rather long, although the server was very attentive and kept our beverages full while we waited. There was a large crowd due to a local prom that night, but the restaurant wasn't full during our time there. I feel that the prices were too high for the serving sizes.
this was my 6th time there and the food and service is always very goo at a good price.
The atmosphere was beautiful but the noise was very loud for a nice dinner. Our calamari was was over cooked and rubbery. Salads were very fresh. The steak was subpar. The chicken parm was over done. The angel hair had a great tast but the chicken was almost burnt. Service was great. There was what I assume was a manager that kept standing around us and looking around. It was hard to have a nice dinner with someone staring at you the whole time. We will not be back based off the lack of quality of the food.
I was there Mon and Tues night. Thoroughly enjoyed and very easy and efficient reservation system thru website. I’m impressed. Kudos and cheers to a long and prosperous venture.
The Standard is a great place to escape to from the busy hustle and bustle. Enjoys a great meal, relaxed with friends and the service and food was great! 10/10 recommended!
Everything about our meal was awesome. The server was great. She described our wine choices perfectly so we received exactly what we expected. We took her recommendation for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and grits and meatloaf. Who knew meatloaf could taste so good. We were stuffed and ordered our dessert to go. It was delicious the next day. We will go back in the summer and use the patio
Twin filets and 12 oz ribeye awesome, Mousse was killer.
I just don’t recommend anything to anyone, my own preference. But the restaurant is pretty good
You have done such a wonderful job of retaining the beautiful character and beauty of this wonderful , historical Milliken location. My husband had a 40 year career with Milliken and now is a consultant for the company. I spent many happy hours in this building picking out floor coverings and I am grateful to see how beautifully it has been maintained. As always, the food in any of Rick Erwin's restaurants leaves nothing to be desired but I will have to say, the cheesecake was the best I ever had! Our waitress has very attentive and most pleasant. We will be back.
Overall the menu selection was very skimpy. Forget desert. My wife had Salmon and it was very good and two had the shrimp and grits and both though the dish was very salty. Marginal menu at best as I’ve been to the sister restaurants Nantucket in Greenville and it’s outstanding. Really need to raise the bar!! Obviously word seems to be spreading as there were very few other patrons.
We were seated near the bar. very noisy and loud. Food was good, except the scallops. But service was outstanding.
Enjoyed a great evening with family there...The food was excellent...The service was exceptional...The place had a great atmosphere inside...We really enjoyed the privacy of the booth we were seated in...I would recommend this place...We will be returning...
Our first time and for Sunday Brunch. Good menu but would have liked to had more breakfast-y choices. The Southern Benedict was good but the portion was huge. Classic Eggs Benedict was spot on. Build your own Mimosa Bar had lots of juice choices. Our server Becky could not have been better... friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Restaurant was beautiful and very clean.
Great food and great service for our large table.
We had dinner here on Valentines Day and while it was a late reservation and not overly crowded, the service was very slow. Our server was very pleasant but not quite on the ball. I ordered the stuffed flounder and my husband chose the scallops. Mine was good enough, nothing extraordinary. His came with their "signature" Hoppin' John which turned out to be bland, sticky rice with a scattering of pinto beans. Even the roasted brussel sprouts were mushy. The scallops themselves were just ok. Dessert was not offered by our server but when we asked, they did have a few selections. The cheese cake was actually quite good. The atmosphere was pleasant and the building is interesting but I don't think we will be going back.
