   Great menu, some things we had were just top notch! The Pate for example was top 5 I have ever ate... the lobster stew came out luke warm and the butter droplets forming on top of the soup was not something I enjoyed...the hash potato was sooooo good.. but the sauce it was sitting in tasted almost like they used spoiled cream... fresh pasta was amazing! creme brulee also amazing (whip cream on top was cool whip? ew) would come again....

   Very responsive and kind staff. Location is nice and you have a nice view of the park. Food was just OK and probably overpriced for what you get. I had avacado toast, which was tasty, but there was only one slice for $15.

   Andre Lux was the best!! She and Stephanie were absolutely amazing for some one like me who is a bit indecisive. Stephanie suggested the NY strip and lobster while Andre suggested we have a french wine which was blissful. It was truly a pleasing dining experience to say the least.

   The food was excellent -- nuanced, delicious tasting and beautifully presented. The ambiance is very bistro-like -- very nice. Our waiter, Andrew, was very good and apologized a number of times for the delay in our pre-theater dinner. Management was fair to us and covered our cocktails due to the delay (kitchen backed up which I could observe from my seat). We appreciated the apologies -- this kind of attention is rare these days and made us feel like we were important. We will return because the food is so very good and and we enjoyed our dinner despite the delay.

   The restaurant itself is beautiful! Super cute and well decorated. Unfortunately our waitress for the night seemed to be having an incredibly bad day. We were a group of 9 girls out for dinner and you would think we had personally offended this waitress. She was cold and rude to all of us, spilled water all over one of the girl's phones and could barely apologize. Every time she brought a dish she slammed it down in front of each person. It took us nearly 2 hours to even get our meal, which was fine. We were happy to chat and have a drink. But multiple meals came out undercooked to being almost raw and, again, the waitress seemed very put out when we requested they take it back and cook it a little more. Other staff seemed very friendly and kind, but I have to say the waitress' attitude impacted the evening and by the end of the night we just wanted to get of there.

   The food that I had was great and the table service was great but they couldn’t get the food to my table. We waited for more than an hour after appetizers and finally had to leave to get to the theater. We were there for 2 hours and they still didn’t have the entrees ready. Even after asking for the food to go, it took 20 minutes to get it in our hands as we were walking out. And they told me the burgers were not included. How can you not get a burger made in an hour, or even after we told them we had to leave. Have been there before and encountered slow service but this was unacceptable. No compensation for my disappointment. The Fisher theater was awesome but I won’t be back to the Statler and I warn you to be careful if you have plans after dinner.

   We really enjoyed our visit to the Statler. We were going to see a show and it did take quite a while to finish so we were rushing at the end, but the food was delicious! I had the French onion soup and my husband had the French country salad both were amazing. We both ordered the specials from the dinner menu and we’re not disappointed in the least food is wonderful. Portions are not huge. Our service was excellent. I definitely recommend.

   The food was very good for 7 out of 8 of us. The restaurant was noisy. Service was slow, we had to rush to eat to make the play even though we allowed 2 hours. The manager gave us 15% off, which was a very nice gesture.

   Our server was spectacular, Dominic, if we remember correctly. André visited our table and provided an impromptu wine tasting to ensure the wine was perfectly paired with my braised short rib dish. We loved the bread! My lobster bisque was delicious and presented beautifully. For dessert, we chose the key lime, which was fabulous!

    We visited for our Anniversary. My husbands food came out wrong so they took it back and he got it 20 minutes later and his medium rare steak was well done and his lobster tail was too! I ordered the short ribs and they were good but the side dishes lacked seasoning. Very disappointing for a $350 bill.

    Gave only three stars because the coffee was appallingly bad and the explanation for not serving us French Press coffee was not credible. First, we order French Press, and then we’re told no French presses were available… we would have to order another type of coffee… the place was lightly filled lots of empty tables. Did they just shut down serving French press at 1:15 pm. Brunch. The coffee that came was colored water - horrid. If you are going to offer brunch - have decent coffee and surely - resturant this size has sufficient number of French press carafes? The food was tasty and worth the visit but certainly would want to bring your own coffee in with you - if you want coffee!

    No one waited on us for an extraordinarily long time, until we had to go ask the maître d’ to have someone come to our table. The server was most gracious then, and the host bought our drinks in apology. It’s fun to be in the heart of the city, but the food was just fair. Prices were in line with the high prices everywhere else these days.

    The onion soup was great although a bit salty. Had the French burger which was delicious. Service was excellent. Valet parking was outstanding and we left the car there and walked to the Detroit Opera House for a show.

    Had an amazing birthday dinner with friends!! The atmosphere was upscale, but not stuffy. There’s an elegance and casual comfortability that was perfect for an adult night out. The music was nice, not too loud, the drinks were delicious, our service was impeccable, we haven’t been that pampered in such a long time. The food was melt in your mouth delicious. The braised short rib was to die for, the ragout and vegetarian dish were also noteworthy and received 5 stars! We enjoyed ourselves so much we went to a concert and walked back to finish off the evening with decadent desserts and nightcaps! We will definitely be back and are so happy Detroit has a new staple! Perfect place for a celebration!

    Great dining experience!! The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. My wife said the French Bistro salad was among the best she has ever had. French Onion soup was fantastic! Detroit needed a restaurant like this and we will definitely go back.

    Fabulous! Oh my goodness, we fell in love with this place from the moment we walked in the door. The Host, Ron, was extraordinary--checking on us, chatting briefly, always smiling. Our waiter--Melissa--was above and beyond any expectation of outstanding service and attention. Even the bus-man was wonderful. It was a very slow, end of evening on a Thursday and it was our good fortune. Food was very, very slow coming out but we did not care one bit. We were enchanted. And when it arrived, the food was perfect. We can't wait to return. Our gratitude to the entire staff for a lovely evening. Our highest recommendation.

    I would try this restaurant again, but not on a Saturday night. I don’t think they were well staffed for the weekend rush. We waited 30 minutes for a round of martini’s and our server was not well versed on the menu and seemed very overwhelmed. Our appetizers came out before drinks and the main dishes were cold. The restaurant saving grace was the sommelier, Andre who gave a great wine tasting experience. The staff were apologetic and did they’re best to save our meal but by the end it was too far gone. I think this restaurant can be a good bar experience for no more than two.

    The food was great but the service absolutely horrid. Megan, the waitress, seemed annoyed by any questions about the menu and not very apologetic for the first round of drinks to take 30 minutes. Waters were rarely refilled. Bread was delivered late. Second round of drinks was stopped at 15 minutes. I understand the good reviews since the food was delicious but the service makes me question whether I will ever go back.

    The Statler had a full house of diners for this visit. They had opened an additional seating area and accepted more reservations. However, staff seemed over loaded for the number of guests. Our table was late and we got stuck in an event space which smelled odd. Service was slow but staff tried their best to keep up and give their normally attentive service. The kitchen managed to still prepare some excellent food! The area we were sat in was near enough to hear sound from the kitchen. A couple times there were loud crashing sounds like something was dropped or knocked over. It may have been very hectic in there. Overall, the food was still excellent. We will continue to go here. But we may avoid days with peak demand like Saturday nights.

    We had our annual belated Valentines dinner at The Statler this year. While overall we had a wonderful evening there were a few misses. First of all the service was exceptional we were able to take our time with our dinner which is what we wanted and we weren't bombarded with food the minute our last plate left the table. Everything we had from appetizers, soups, salad was excellent. The standouts for us were the Beef Tartare and the Onion Soup, both were easily some of the best versions we've had of either dish. We weren't as thrilled with the entrees. My wife's fish was partly overcooked. It was much thinner on one end so I'm sure that contributed to the uneven temperature. I had the braised short ribs and they were dry and a little tough. Everything that came with it was great and the sauce really did help bring them back to life. We did enjoy the cocktails and wine we had with our meals. The cocktails were really well made. The East English Village and Re-Fashion were standouts and I had my first Naked and Famous and it is my favorite variation of a Last Word that I've had. As far as value goes it's semi fine dining in Downtown Detroit so I expected to go in and spend some money. Overall and considering the quality of food it was a good value. We did not leave hungry by a long shot and the service and atmosphere was exceptional. We spent over two hours on dinner and not once did we feel rushed or like we were wanting for anything.

    We had a company sponsored event in Detroit and decided to choose the Statler to host our clients for dinner. We had the pleasure of having Nate as our server and he did nothing but impress the entire time. Best service I’ve had in a long time. The food was amazing and everyone left happy, full, and a bit more knowledgeable about Detroit and The Statler’s history. Kudos to all for a great experience.

    Previous visits to this restaurant were outstanding. Our visit last night did not reach that level. Our cocktails, appetizer, and salad were all fantastic, but we both agreed the entrées (chicken and bouillabaisse) were not winners. We noted on our reservation that we had theater tickets for timing purposes and arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation. Despite our waitress confirming that detail, we had to flag her down to pay at 7:30pm.

    My husband and I visited this restaurant for Valentine’s Day dinner date night. We were initially hesitant to go but we were very pleased and happy we chose this restaurant. Lauren our waitress was fantastic and a joy to have. She recommended great food choices and she was an absolute delight and honestly made the dinner more enjoyable. Drinks were good, my meal was great, my steak was a tad under seasoned but overall was still good. My husband is very particular about food and he had the special lamb and he thoroughly enjoyed it and stated he would come back just for the lamb alone. The salad was good and filling and the lobster soup was good and had a nice amount of lobster in it. Dessert was also good and a nice finish to a great meal. We plan to attend back and will definitely request Lauren again and we would recommend anyone else to do the same.
