Both the bar area and dining area were comfortable and inviting. I love the decor. Service was fantastic as was the food. The salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned well but not too much. Black bean burger was very tasty. I highly recommend it with no bun for us in the gluten free crowd.
Try the Fig Fizz from on the bar. Top Notch!
Food was delicious, especially the smoked wings..
We went to the Turn House to partake of the oyster special. We shared 1 1/2 dozen of the flavorful Virginia oysters. They were perfectly shucked. One of us had the tuna tartare wrap & the other enjoyed the onion soup. While the soup had plenty of delicious cheese, it would be even better with more onions & a more beefy base.
Very nice restaurant in a nice neighborhood on a golf course. The food was really good and so was the service. I really enjoyed it and will definitely go back again.
The Turn House is a lovely place and we returned once again to have a great cheese and meat board, delicious burgers, excellent fresh creative salads and a sumptuous sorbet. Our waiter was very polite, friendly, and attentive. Really comfortable dining areas with cozy fireplace and well spaced tables that allow all diners to chat without straining to hear each other speak over the background noise. Well worth a visit
Our group of 4 were all very happy with the food & service @ The Turn House. From the crab cake to the lobster roll to the lamb meatballs to the Reuben, all were rated an A. Our waiter even warmed the coffee cups before serving the coffee. Since it was a warm day for March, several golfers were on the course & practicing their drives. This added to the ambience.
Great evening with the gals!
Food was delicious but service was slow, friendly but slow.
So glad we found this restaurant! Great food and service in a relaxed atmosphere. We loved the garlic pretzel knots, crab dip and brussels sprout salad for appetizers. Scallop rissotto and burgers were a hit with our family too.
We returned for dinner and the oysters on the half shell special. We shared a dozen oysters as our appetizer & went on to a very tasty salmon dish and the seasonal salad. This was our fourth time eating @ the Turn House & have enjoyed each & every meal.
Having heard about Turn House, we decided to give it a try. We sat in the bar area. First let’s start with the service; there definitely needs to be more training of the staff. I ordered the French onion soup, but it was brought to the table without a soup spoon. For my main course, I ordered the rib entree. This was brought to the table. I had expected that knowing what entree I had ordered, that a steak knife would have either been brought beforehand or with my entree but neither occurred. Instead I had to ask for one, and while one would expect that the request would be filled immediately, instead the person stopped at tables to clear them before fulfilling the request while I waited to begin eating my dinner. It’s these little things that indicate that more training is needed and affect one’s dining experience.
For dessert, we ordered the cookie and ice cream. The ice cream is from Scoop and Paddle and was excellent, sadly I cannot say the same for the cookie which was served undercooked. The middle of the cookie was raw, yes raw. This was pointed out to the server and when she returned with the check, she said that the Sous chef agreed that the cookie was undercooked and for that, she did take a few dollars off the check. The smoked manhattan cocktail was delicious. So in totality, a completely underwhelming experience and would make it difficult to recommend without hesitations.
Not only WOULD I recommend Turn House to a friend, I actually already did that this morning. Great, creative menu, friendly service, and a nice view (especially in the summer, when you can sit outside).
Great service, food, and atmosphere. I will definitely back again.
The seasonal food was a delight to my taste buds. Fresh ingredients used and outstanding ambiance and service. Great value for price. $$$
Beautiful restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was wonderful. The only thing I didn’t care for was the chocolate brownie sundae. The brownie was mediocre at best. My salmon was excellent, as was my husbands short rib meal. Great experience overall.
We went for the first time, and we were highly impressed! Our waiter was extremely nice and helpful. The cocktails were delicious, and the food was outstanding. We’re already planning on returning to try something new!
The food was delicious & a lovely presentation. The French Onion Soup is fabulous! Our party of 4 included a person in wheelchair, a person in a scooter and a person using a walker! They were so very accommodating & committed to being sure we were comfortable. Our server, Sean, was great...very professional, courteous and attentive!
Painfully slow service plus birthday(s) acknowledgements were missed.
Good food but we skipped dessert due to the poor service.
Excellent server and food was so good. I would absolutely visit again and recommend a friend.
Clean. Looks out over a golf course. I prepared to be treated differently because my sister and I are not the golf playing/country club type but we were treated just fine by all staff. I asked for my bacon to be chewy and that’s what I got. Excellent food, we plan on coming again.
Lovely location, good service, and relatively tranquil at least at the hour we went. I'd like to try more of the entrees; they didn't have the arctic char, which I wanted to try. Burgers were good but the bun was a bit big for the burger--a little surprising for an upscale tavern-type place. I expected a tad more for a $14 burger, but great flavor. Awesome Brussels sprouts. Specialty cocktails very good.
It was our first time dining at The Turn house. We enjoyed everything! Our waiter Rominia was Awesome! Great local place to dine
Server was GREAT!! Marquise was wonderful!
we came for restaurant week and for the price we got a great deal. portions were large. the beet salad was wonderful and the burgers were some of the best in town. loved the buns. fresh ice cream was a great way to finish off the meal. it was also nice to sit by the fireplace. our server was very nice and attentive.
We were lucky enough to go during Restaurant Week and got an excellent 3 course meal for a great price. The hospitality is lovely, the atmosphere is nice and quiet, and the food is delicious and creatively prepared. I had the ricotta cranberry toast for the first course, and the arctic char for the main course and they were both outstanding! The hazelnut torte dessert was also quite good. We had 5:00 reservations and there were few people there, but it got rather busy by the time we left. We'll be back.
This restaurant feels more like a comfortable home. The food is well presented and very flavorful. Everyone in my party was extremely well taken care of with different food restrictions and nothing was lost on quality. I would recommend this place for any intimate gathering or celebration.
We decided to try the Tuesday evening oyster special. The oyster shucker did a fine job as the oysters readily slide from the shell. One diner said the Turn House's burger was the best ever. The lamb meatballs were also very tasty. We shall return again.
Delicious food. Interesting choices. Quiet atmosphere.
Service was very good.
French onion soup had no taste, toast with ricotta & cranberry the same - cranberries too tart & not enough ricotta to know it was there.
Very disappointing after a relatively long period of good.
Hope they get it together - neighborhood resturant...
We went to have dinner @ a restaurant we haven't tried before. We were pleasantly surprised when we experienced a golf course restaurant with fine food. While the menu is limited, we were delighted with the sauteed scallops on a mushroom risotto (mine) and my wife's lobster roll. With a small upcharge, she opted for the mixed green side salad. Our waiter is a young man who was both knowledgeable and service oriented.
We had a lovely brunch and everyone enjoyed their food.
We always have an outstanding experience at The Turn House. Our meals were fantastic. I had the french onion soup and the steak, my husband had oysters and and the fish. He said the fish was one of the best he has ever had... ever. That includes five trips to Maui dining at the most exclusive restaurants on the island and a more recent trip to the French Riviera where he ate fish at every meal. Yum. We are total foodies that enjoy eating at all of the top farm to table restaurants in the Baltimore/DC region and The Turn House is repeatedly one of our absolute favorites. My only request would be that they sit reservations in the more formal dining area. The last three times we went we were sat in the front room that is shared with the bar. For a romantic dinner for two with a reservation, I really prefer to not have all of the TV's around and be in a more formal, quiet area of the restaurant. I wish this front room was used for walk-ins and the main dining area was used for reservations.
The food was good quality and the service was even better! Our waiter was awesome even though we arrived fairly close to closing time. Very honest about the menu and went above and beyond to ensure our date night was superb.
I really want to love the Turn House. I got the cheese board to start, it was delicious, but the overall presentation could have been better. Just a small garnish and someone pointing out which cheese was which would have been nice. The root vegetable hash was really just large chunks of sweet and regular potatoes, I wouldn’t call that hash.
Overall the decor is lovely but the table next to us was warped and should be replaced,
The bathrooms were in desperate need of a good cleaning. The bathrooms at Columbia Mall were cleaner.
Small details do matter.
Lovely brunch experience.
We’ve been there twice once for dinner and once for lunch. Magnificent food and staff. The bartender was great and attentive. The old fashioned is a must have along with their nachos which is great to split as a dinner.
A wonderful brunch at the Turn House. Great food, drinks and service, thank you Pete.
We met friends for brunch here on a Sunday. The food was good, but not spectacular. I had the Mediterranean omelette. It was not very exciting. The biscuits and honey butter they served to start the meal was fabulous! It was the highlight of my meal. My friend had the Benedict and said that it was very good. The service was slow. We waited for a long time for our check. Overall, it was a good brunch.
Overpriced and the food wasn’t up to the price
We have been multiple times at The Turn House over the last few years. The oysters are always excellent. Food is most of the time excellent too, this time they overcooked the steak. However, 7 out of 10 times we had issues with the service. From very slow to completely incompetent where I opened the wine myself since the girl had no clue how to use a corkscrew! This time the server was super slow, did not pay attention and did obviously not care. We decided not to go back for the next half a year and then give it maybe a try again. Sad, because the kitchen is good but management not. I did send them an email about our visit through their website but they did not respond...
