Good views of the River. Food is decent. Main issue was way to much salt in the cheese curd coating and also the fish coating.
Our server was fantastic. We loved the food and the drink selection. The view is great. We definitely will be back.
We ordered the cheese curds and charcuterie board for appetizers. I can recommend the charcuterie board. The cheese curds we’re heavily breaded and fried so hard I could barely taste the cheese. For dinner, we had ribeye and the fried walleye. Our ribeye came out cold, we had to send it back. Even the sides were cold. The fish was so heavily breaded and fried hard, I could hardly eat it. I had to “break through” to eat the fish. The fish was once I got through the crust. We were very disappointed. We were glad we used a voucher and a gift card instead of paying our money for it. We wouldn’t go back. Server was just not familiar with the menu or restaurant policies.
We went for my parents 35th wedding anniversary. We had a party of 9 and the service was incredible. Our server was incredibly accommodating and the food was delicious. We went during off-season and right at 4:30pm, so we had a very quiet atmosphere to dine. Would go back!
Nice view of the river. Ordered the Salmon and got it very undercooked, but the chef made an entirely new one for me and personally oversaw that it was perfect. The food was so good that I did not mind waiting for it to be remade. Definitely will be going back there every year for our anniversary.
The view of the river was fabulous. The bartender was waitressing and did her best. The food was expensive and had little flavor. The cheese curds were over cooked and the cheese had drained out of several of them. The filet was very bland. The burger was ordered medium and came back medium rare. For that price, my expectations were higher than my experience
We walk into the restaurant no one is at the front desk a waiter comes up and asks if we needed a table I told him we had reservations through open table. He said we don’t take reservations. The food was very good the waiter brought our salad out with our entree. The bartender couldn’t make a good Lemon Drop as they are lacking in bar supplies. We were celebrating our 4th year anniversary and I made a special request to bring out dessert after we ate so we could celebrate since the waiter didn’t know about our reservation we did not get the dessert to celebrate our 4th anniversary for $100 I was expecting more of a romantic environment and good cocktails and better service.
The location is great, food was ok, service was good.
The Vue definitely has a view. Beautiful from the bar and the seating area of the Wisconsin River. We got there as a party of 8 at 6:15 and went right to our table. The waiter was very attentive and was able to answer our questions about the menu. The menu is rather limited but there is a variety, from ribeye steak for $39, salmon for $28, Fish and Chips for $20 (which I had,) fried chicken, salmon, a grain bowl (which my wife had,) and the Vue burger for $13. The fish and chips had one long piece of fish with excellent cut fries and remoulade. The grain bowl my wife had was unusual - it had farro, mushrooms, and avocado. She did like it. My son had the kid's burger and he said it was only okay. Others at the table had beef sandwiches that they ate up. The one person at our table who had a hard time finding something on the menu ordered the house salad as her main meal. She ordered it with vinaigrette dressing but didn't care for it as she said it had too much vinegar.
We had ordered the french onion soup and it was very delicious. The only problem was the entrees came out before we had finished the soup. There were also some delicious rolls that the waiter recommended to use the apple butter with them, but it was apple jelly in a packaged container. I used the regular butter and it was fine. Others at our table used the apple jelly and said it was just okay. The chef came out while we were eating and asked us how things were. We told him everything was good, except for the vinagrette.
Wish there were a few more things on the menu, but the view at the "Vue" can't be beat. We were there until about 7:30 on the Sunday before Labor Day, and the restaurant was not very busy. I would think with a great bar view more people would have been there.
the chef visited every table and asked how food was.
You could tell he took great pride in preparing the food
What an unexpected delight. The menu was typical Wisconsin Dells family fare or so we thought. We ordered the salmon and were bowled over. It was a fine piece of scottish salmon, perfectly pan seared on a bed of herbed farro with roasted brussel sprouts, and braised fennel garnished with pickled fennel. Anything but ordinary. Chef Rob is classically trained with experience in Chicago and New Orleans and the food was perfect. Combine that with the beautiful river view and it made for a fine evening. I want to go back and look more closely at the menu to see what other surprises the chef has to offer.
It was the end of the summer season so we didn’t have a high expectation considering seasonal help. We got what we expected. The food was good, a little high priced, and of course the view was great.
Unfortunately when we got there they did not have the reservation we made through open table but they seated us right away. There was a wedding in the main dining room so it was a little noisy and we had to eat in the bar area. The service was a little slow but they did their best to accommodate. We both had the Filet and it was perfectly prepared. The presentation was excellent and the steak melted in in our months. The Chef came out and asked how our meal was. Overall a good experience and one I would recommend. I know we will return.
The food was great but very small menu, not many options at all.
We have dined here twice, and had a wonderful experience each time. The view of the river is lovely, the food unique and outstanding, and the service excellent. We will be back.
Great view of the upper river, excellent service, delicious cocktails and especially tasty and unique appetizers and entrees. We will definitely go back again soon.
Great food with unique twists on side and presentation. Highly recommend this restaurant with superb food and service.
Terrible service, completely incompetent. Inappropriate comments from staff. Not enough bread brought to table for group, 20 minutes to “warm up” more. Some meals brought out with appetizers, some meals brought after others had already finished. Twenty minutes for a bottle of wine which arrived as we were finishing dinner. Took 30 minutes to process credit card. Managers stated “well, at least you’re on vacation! You’ve got all the time in the world!”
Beautiful river views all around. Server was great but food was delayed so he gave us discount. Food was delicious but a little pricey.
We live in Wisconsin Dells and have visited The Vue four times. The fourth time, 7/27/2019, was not up to the first three.
The appetizer menu no longer has shrimp cocktail, which was fabulous. The cheese platter is now half the size at double the cost.
The dining menu is unusual, but not what one would call unique, and lacks substance. The service is still underwhelming.
We may return, but The Vue is not high on our list.
The Vue is exactly that... a beautiful view. Cocktails were good, food was decent, but we struggled with the server. He didn't know anything about the menu, kept going back to the kitchen to ask questions, everything was brought out late or in the wrong order, and refills were always late. He messed up the bill and took forever (10 minutes) to fix. I literally had to get up, walk over to him taking another order at another table and tell him I was leaving right now so he better fix the bill if he wanted it paid. While we enjoyed the view we will not be returning due to the price/value and the horrible service.
Very nice view of the river. Other items on the menu looked good too. Food presentation was pretty and quite appealing. We made a reservation because it was a Friday night, but it was not too busy at the time we were there. We will go back again and try more menu items
Great breakfast and beautiful views!! We will definitely go back.
Thank you for Visiting Us at The VUE located inside the River Inn. We are very pleased you had you visit and dine with us. Hope to see you soon.
Food was not good
Service was poor
They don’t honor reservations so I’m not sure why this app is even connected to the Vue.
The view was amazing. Cool place too bad it probably won’t last.
Sorry your experience was not at the caliber that we normally operate at. We have revamped our menu and changed our service experience to a completely higher level. Plus we do honor any reservations made. We would not take reservations if we didn't have any intention of honoring them. Again we apologize for your unfortunate experience. This historic location has been serving food since 1924 and will continue long into the future.
Service was very slow and food lacking flavor.
I would have given a 5 star but was looking for something outside for dinner the view in the restaurant was excellent though. Food was outstanding and the server was attentive and cordial. Not too busy when we wentno need for a reservation.
The food was lovely and the view is amazing! Would definitely eat here again. It got a little loud near the end with one table but that was at the end and didn’t affect our enjoyment of the Vue.
My husband I had a great dinner. So glad we found this restaurant
Our waiter was kind and welcoming. He did seem to try to do a good job. However, I feel he would benefit from more training. Firstly, based on the prices of the meals here, I expect that our leftovers would be boxed up by the server, not just handed a box like we were. Secondly, I also expect the server to take our plates away after we are done with our meals. Not let them sit in front of us until we left. The food was okay. I was pleased that the entrees cake with sides. My beef Wellington was cooked as I ordered it and my husband’s fish fry was fine as well. A kids cheese pizza was ordered and was weirded out to see it was made with just spaghetti sauce and cheddar cheese on a crust. We’ve never seen pizza made like that. 2 bites were taken out of that whole pizza...I don’t think you can qualify it as pizza though...highly disappointing. I was also surprised and disappointed at how small my son’s kids menu steak was. Menu stated 4oz. What arrived on his plate was maybe 2oz, if that. I made a comment to the waiter about the size of it and he just shrugged it off. So we paid $14 for 3 bites of steak and French fries. It’s unlikely that we will be back.
All 10 of this enjoyed the evening , meal and great view of the WI River!
Only thing one guest who had the perch instead of the Friday Fish Fry, was the small filets of perch were over cooked. But they still enjoyed the evening.
We went in for the Prime Rib on a Wednesday night. We went early and it was not busy at all which was great. Prime Rib was very good, we did have to ask for the au jus but our waitress brought it right out. We were not offered dessert so I can not comment on that.
Overall good experience
The food was awesome! A great time was had by all.
Really enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you so much.
Service was EXTREMELY slow despite the fact that there were only 3 other tables. Food was very good though
The place was not nearly full, most tables were empty. When we arrived I told the hostess that we had reservations for 2. The host was not concerned about the reservations and told us that it will be a long long wait because 18 people just sat down. We didn’t know if it was a long time for food, or for service, it was very confusing and almost as if she didn’t want us to eat there. The Food was good but service was lacking, the server had broken English and clearly did not know the menu, did not ask how we wanted steaks cooked, or what sides we wanted, just said “ok”. Gave it a try, but probably won’t be back because there are so many other options around the dells.
We took our family of four here to check it out and it was fantastic. Service was great and the food was phenomenal! We were blown away with how good everything was and will definitely be back!
The food was excellent. The service, though, has some kinks to iron out. The food and ambience, though, will definitely bring me back another time.
Food is excellent. Ambiance is great. Love the music and the sunsets looking out at the river! Would definitely go back.
Food was amazing, very little noise and the music that was playing was so great!! Our service was a bit slow, my friends drink sat in the bar for about 5 minutes before the rest of our beverages were ready. The bartender made her drink and then had to go to the kitchen to pick up food for someone sitting at the bar while we waited for drinks. Other than that it was a great experience.
Terrible service, food cold, not what I ordered, very noisy, practically sitting on people next to us. Won't go back.
