The West End
Just another fantastic meal. Congrats to Chef Joe Ellia and staff on creating some truly memorable meal. The Lobster Pot Pie was amazing as were the desserts!
There must have been a problem in the kitchen. The food took forever to come out. I'm not impressed by the new chef or the quality of the entrees since the change. I think that the quality of meat & fish was better before. The asparagus this weekend were disgraceful. It's meant to be a grill. The specials each weekend are things like poutine and Asian noodles. Having said that, the staff are really lovely and the ambience is so much better than anywhere else in Hyannis.
Our first time visiting The West End following the news of Chef Joe Ellia being brought on as the Executive Chef. Had a wonderful meal that had his trademarks written throughout. Swordfish with risotto and grilled asparagus. Perfectly prepared! The Chocolate Cake (got the last piece) was phenomenal as well as the homemade bread! Looking forward to heading back...
Not as good as it used to be. Probably will not return or recommend
The decor is beautiful.Though the place was very quit and not busy the service was average.
My wife ordered the sword fish which was cooked perfectly but had no taste. It was just grilled and nothing else. The risotto was very bland.
I ordered the cod which also was bland though cooked perfectly. The baby spinach plain boiled with no salt or sautéed with oil and garlic. The mashed potatoes were very good with citrus beurre blanc. our son ordered their special burger which was cooked perfect and tasty.
The wine list is outrageously expensive which I can not understand.
Wish them good luck
We loved the live jazz. That was such a wonderful way to enjoy Sunday brunch.
Wonderful jazz brunch! Great atmosphere and wonderful decor. And the food was incredible - all of our plates were cleaned!
Food was decent, but took legitimately forever. Waiter was distracted, no where to be found and seemed new to the restaurant. Dining room was FREEZING. Bartender made an excellent cocktail but the bar area smelled terribly of cat food! ( only way i can describe it).
Really disappointed. We had been looking forward to trying this place.
Reservation was for 8:30, got seated 9:30, food came 10:30
Took us 2.5 hours to be served our dinner. Complete mess.
DO NO WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE!
A disaster. It started with being seated 30 minutes after our reservation time because the service was so terrible. After we were seated, we had an inattentive waitress, there was no bread (it was “in the oven”), there was no more calamari appetizer (who runs out of calamari or any appetizers at 8 pm???). An hour and a half after we were seated (2 hours from our reservation time) with no dinner, I asked for the check. Next thing the manager brings out our meals and my wife’s swordfish is cold as are my mashed potatoes. Manager picks them up and returns with hot food five minutes later and says he will adjust the bill. After dinner, I ask for the check and waitress insults us with the manager has offered you free desert. No thank you, I will take the check. Get the check and the bill reflects a “house treat” of a $20 discount which was in our opinion underwhelming given the importance of the day, the dinner and the poor service and cold food. A major disappointment on a night that should have been special. I know my family and I will not be back.
Being Valentine’s Day, I expected the restaurant to be busy. I had a reservation however and arrived on time for that reservation and we still had to wait a half an hour to sit down. I probably could have let that slide if that was the only thing that went wrong. It took our wait staff another hour to collect our orders for dinner and we were told no less than three times that bread would be served. After the third time, I asked if we could have bread since I was getting famished, almost approaching 2 hours after our original seating time, and the waitress alerted us the kitchen run out of bread. Ok. So what? The reviews for the food for this place were killer so I’m ok to wait still... even after watching the couple next to us literally leave after not getting any service for an hour. Finally! My salmon arrived. It was burnt. Like blacked so badly I thought my Irish mother was going to come over and hold it over the sink and scrap off the crusty bits and claim it was still salvageable if we just scrap it off a bit, the way she used to do with the toast. The waitress asked if we were interested in dessert. We were not. I don’t know whether the restaurant wasn’t prepared for a holiday or what but this was pretty low quality in my book. Pass on it next time.
The whole experience at The West End was amazing ! The food was fresh and properly prepared . The swordfish was grilled and cooked to perfection . The short-ribs where delicious, hard to leave any on the plate when there that good. My wife and I had reservations in Valentines Day , we where seated promptly as we walked in , you could tell the owner was running the restaurant like a well oiled machine. We will be back for sure , kudos to the chef and his team for delivering a great meal during a busy service .
We came for Valentine’s Day dinner. The food was delicious, no complaints. The ambiance was great. Our waiter never came back to the table after our order to refill our drinks. And after our food was brought no one checked on us. A bit pricey to have service like that.
Service was very slow and one meal was not good
We were a group of four and enjoyed our time a lot. Seating for 2 is crowded and lacks privacy. Wewould return but not unless with another couple.
Jen and Blane are rock stars!!!!
The food and service were outstanding.
Thank you for a fabulous evening!
First time. Found an opening on Open Table and decided to give it a try. Was nervous when we first walked in because it was Saturday night at 645, and the place was nearly empty. Our fears were for naught. Ambiance perfect (quiet, relaxing), food good, service good. No bargain, but pricing as expected for a vacation area (even off season). Chef amenable to substitutions. Server had no issue with our requests. I had swordfish and hub had braised short rib (which I tried....yummy). We'll definitely go back, especially if they use Open Table during high season.
I enjoyed my experience at West End. When I asked if the lobster roll was overflowing, I was told that indeed it would be so. However, it was not as I envisioned since it was a relatively small portion. Clearly, I was disappointed with the lobster roll. I really enjoyed the tater tots. Obviously, I ordered the wrong item. I would order something different next time as I intend to return. The restaurant and decor is beautiful and very comfortable.
My friend & I go regularly because we very much enjoy the service from Dan.
Delicious food, fantastic service, pleasant soothing ambience!
My friend Dan. He really makes it a special experience.
It is New Year's Day and I am not from the Cape and I was wondering what may open and worthy to try!
I researched a little between Open Table, Yelp and Google and found "The West End"
I also have to be in the mood for a Bloody Mary and I sure am glad that I was today as the offer was a plain Bloody Mary and then you could customize it and add what you wanted to it from the Bloody Mary bar 😳
The Chef's choice omelette was very tasty!
This place comes highly recommended ‼️
Our new favorite local spot. Great selection of craft cocktails and food.
Loved our meals and the pace in which it was served. Beautiful holiday decorations. Our own personal Christmas party. 😊
Had looked forward to my first meal at West End. Mixed review. Service very good. Of the group of 5, three enjoyed meal - other two not so much. Pork Milanese dry - difficult to cut. Soups and chowders good. Burrata salad ok. Chicken and swordfish good.
Love this place. Every where on Cape does seafood. We love this place for the steak! The ambiance is perfect. Relaxed and classy jazz place. Highly recommend.
Our waiter was more than amazing very helpful and all the staff including the hostess we're amazing I would definitely recommend and I look forward to coming back again
Food was delicious. Bartender Dana was super friendly & knowledgeable! Definitely going back again soon!
We had a great evening. Our server was very personable. All enjoyed their meals. The staff is really well trained.
Always a unique experience! Excellent food, loved the pris fix and entrees on the menu. Professional yet friendly service.A definte favorite on Cape Cod!
It was a perfect dinner at West End! Great service -very knowledgeable waiter and attentive host who seated us at our favorite quiet spot 👌💯❤️ Food-was great as well!
I am a foodie for sure and this was top notch. Don't hesitate to go to the West End
Overall the experience was good, however the service was less than stellar and the food was a mixed bag. The lobster bisque was on the salty side, the filet mignon and chicken were bland and lacking in flavor, and the asparagus and green beans were crudo. The star meal of the evening was the lobster roll and truffle tots, which were both delicious! The ambiance was both classically modern and aesthetically pleasing.
Food was good but service was very slow
The Restaurant has beautiful Decor, Quiet , food exceptionally good though little pricy. Service was little inspire of being a slow night. Nightly Prix Fix menu is worth the price. This was our first visit but we will return
They advertised a buffet brunch, which is one of the reasons we went on Sunday. It was a menu-only brunch which had a limited menu. I ordered Lipton tea, which our waiter (Fernando?) said was available. He brought a Tazo English Breakfast tea instead. He then insisted that it would taste the same, which of course, it's not.
They didn't offer cream or half & half for the coffee and tea, nor did they have a variety of sweeteners.
My wife ordered French Toast, and we had to ask twice for butter. The waiter didn't stop by to ask how everything was, and was not at all attentive. We also had to ask for refills on water.
He asked if we wanted refills on coffee/tea when he presented the check. I've seen people on their first day on the job do better than he did.
The only good things were the quality of the food and the jazz trio that was playing. It could have been a much better experience.
The food was about as good as it gets for a nice dinner on the Cape. My husband had a filet, which he enjoyed. I had the Buddha Bowl. Heavy on the beets, but still good. My son loved the lobster mac n cheese.
Food and service was excellent. The only negative for me is there was no baby changing station in the rest room.
Salmon topped with lobster and Halibut entrees were really generously portioned, perfectly prepared and presented, and a great value.
Very pricey for what it is. It was $300 for four people and we came home hungry-ish.
The waitstaff were kind, friendly, and accommodating. It was good, but quantity/taste/atmosphere didn’t warrant the price tag. This is Hyannis....not Boston. So a little disappointed~
