outdoor covered patio seating is a must-- patio heaters to keep you warm, covered and enclosed to break the breeze but still offers outdoor feel and great ambience
Maple duck dish a must!! Wish they would just offer the chocolate cookies that come with the creme brûlée as a dessert option...perfect pairing with their chantilly cream, cup of coffee or last of our red wine
Delicious food and Greg (General manager) he’s awesome!
We went shopping and had a late dinner. Food was above expectations.
Service was excellent.
We loved everythigf. The food was fantastic and the ambience was great.
Great food and great service, as always!
From the bartenders to the waiters it was a fabulous experience we had three couples highly recommend
You have to go here. The staff is awesome, the food is awesome. My girlfriend and I had a great time.
Had an amazing time for our date night . Would definitely go back
Impeccable service! Always a pleasure dining here!
Wonderful food and great service. A little on the pricey side, but when the food is excellent, it helps a bit.
We had a great time. Paul is wonderful and we will be back for another random night out. Thank you!
Waiter and hostess were phenomenal and nice. Food was subpar and not nearly as good as expected. Risotto was bland and tasteless but was cooked properly. Restaurant was so loud I couldn't really hear our waiter. Wouldn't go back.
Exceptional rack of lamb according to my husband who frequently orders it. If you love chocolate, try the chocolate cake; it’s actually chocolate mousse cake and it is delicious.
Always a nice time! It's one of our fave restaurants in San Diego.
Dined at this restaurant for my daughter's birthday. The service, food, and ambiance were great from start to finish. We were seated next to the window overlooking La Jolla Village Drive. The waiter was very knowledgeable, courteous, and attentive. My wife and daughter ordered some drinks and we also ordered appetizers for the table. We ordered pork belly lollipops and calamari. Both tasted great! For our main dishes, we ordered chili lime mahi mahi, the shrimp and scallops, and their duck breast. All three plates were fantastic! To end our dinner, the waiter brought out a chocolate dessert for our daughter, which she shared with my wife. Overall, we has a great time and fully enjoyed our meals. Will definitely return in the future.
Excellent food and wonderful customer interaction.
Outstanding in every aspect!
It's a great place. I always enjoy drink at the bar. This is the first time I had dinner and food was great. Would visit again for dinner. Definitely recommend.
Service outstanding. Food exceptional. Venison was delicious.
Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent
Delicious food, great service by Dane and the ambiance was great. I had the venison and it was delicious.
7th year wedding Anniversary
We had an incredible experience at the Restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. From Ethan who spent the entire evening with us choosing and serving our wine to our waiter Michael who was fantastic. Great job all around, we will definately be back!!
It was great experience. That was our third time there and as usual it was amazing! Great service and food. I'll definitely come back. Additional thanks to Paul its was outstanding service!
It was so amazing! And the food was on point!
When we booked our reservation on Open Table, we requested four orders of Foie Gras. Shortly after we were seated, Daniel, the Executive Chef, approached our table. We engaged in enjoyable conversation, and knew without a doubt that Daniel knows how to reel in those of us who are passionate about great food and wine. Our server, the young Hawaiian whose name I won't attempt to butcher, was most welcoming and was extremely knowledgeable with regard to even the most minute details of the menu selections. The hostess, the sommelier, the busser and all other staff with whom we made contact, were professional above and beyond our expectations. If we lived in La Jolla year round, we would dine at The Winery regularly. Kudos to all! As always, Yvon Goetz has the culinary field of fine dining entirely under control.
My husband and I went to The Winery for our first anniversary. We got the charcuterie board, filet mignon, and ribeye. I had a glass of an Argentinian Merlot with the charcuterie board and filet mignon, and a glass of a California Red Blend, called the Arsonist, with dessert. For dessert, we had a piece of their chocolate cake and cheesecake. My husband doesn’t normally like cheesecake, but enjoyed the bite he had. Everything was perfect. The charcuterie board was beautifully displayed. The steaks were done medium rare, as ordered. The herbed butter with hints of salt on the steaks brought out the best flavoring in the meat. Nothing was over seasoned. All of the flavors were exquisite. I’m highly impressed with The Winery. Also, our server, Sasha, wished us a happy anniversary as soon as he greeted us. It is obvious that everyone there has been trained on how to greet tables, present the food correctly as the chef intended, give recommendations, and be overall accommodating. Big thanks to Sasha and The Winery for helping to make our day so special. I look forward to returning.
The food is always great here. Unfortunately we couldn’t sit inside because of the labor shortage. Service was a little slow but the food made up for it.
Our wait staff was friendly, courteous and attentive. Extensive wine menu and entrée selections were appealing too. One minor comment, I would have liked a better table for our dinner reservation. There were 3 or 4 tables that were in the back. We were seated at 1 of these tables. Unfortunately, the pathway leading to the men's and women's rooms were in front of these tables. There was too much traffic. Had I known this, I would have asked the hostess to seat us at a different location. Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our date night.
Food and service were great!
We love it here but last night our waiter forgot our brussel sprouts so we had them for dessert. It is a great place though - food is superb.
Always a consistently excellent choice. Lobster Risotto an amazing favorite.
The food, wine and server Michael was amazing!
Really good waiter
No table had been reserved for us, they couldn't find my reservation. We asked for outdoor seating. Nothing was available. If we wanted, we could sit social distanced in the hallway to the restrooms. Their venison chop special was $68! Taste was marginal. The beef short rib was dry and tough. We won't be going back.
Wonderful service and amazing food! We ate on the patio and it was a lovely evening and our server Isabelle was attentive and very knowledgeable. We started with the Pork Belly Lollipops and the Almond Dusted Calamari, which were both scrumptious, and our table had the scallops, the port chop, the lamb and the duck, and all the plates were almost licked clean because everything was perfectly cooked, beautifully plated, and very fresh. We topped off the evening with creme brulee' and chocolate torte to share, and were equally delighted by both treats. We were the last people in the resatuarant, but were never made to feel rushed or neglected. It was our first time at the Winery and will definitely be returning very soon!
This was the first time we’ve dined at The Winery. The food and service were outstanding. Be sure to use the valet parking, free with the restaurant’s validation. We’ll be going back.
This was a great friend leaving experience !
We were so pleased to discover this gem in UTC. The food was creative and outstanding. The wine selection was huge, as it should be for a Winery Restaurant, with choices at all price ranges. Our server was smart and attentive, and we probably could have talked to the Sommelier all evening. We will be going back.
Good overall. Floors were dirty under lots of the tables. Service wasn’t coordinated very well—we weren’t done with our appetizers and they brought out main courses. Restaurant looks great inside though. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.
