Tides Waterfront Kitchen
The food was good and view was excellent. Main issue was that our waiter, Dennis, was doing an amazing job and running all over the place while most other staff members were standing at the bar talking loudly pretty much the whole time we were there. The conversation carried throughout the restaurant so our romantic, overpriced meal was to the soundtrack of a debate about whether or not waiters make more money off customers that drink a lot, etc. We could hear every word and it was pretty annoying. Felt bad for our waiter as well.
We were very happy with the service we received. Original dinner reservations were at 8:30, Someone in our party decided that was too late for them to eat. We contacted the restaurant and they were very happy to change our reservations to 7 o’clock for us. The service provided was excellent, even as the restaurant started filling up I noticed our waiter was very attentive to everyone in his station. Yes yes
José the waiter was very unprofessional. He kept saying that he couldn’t attend to us because some one walked out with out paying and he was chasing them all over the place??? It’s sucks but I didn’t care. I was hungry.
He totally neglected us and caused a bad experience. After waiting like 20 minutes we got him to stop by and ask if we wanted anything to drink. 10 minutes later he took our order. The place only had like 4 other tables already with food. So, it wasn’t busy. 10 more minutes later he remember to bring bread and butter. And eventually after an hour the food came in.
Food was good. 10/10 on the Land and Sea plate. And 6.5/10 on the Monterey sampler.
I don’t recommend this place. Unless you don’t know where else to go. The menus is very very short and not many options to pick from.
Great place to eat and enjoy a beautiful view from the 4th floor. Easy and out of the way place to get drive to. Service had sifficulty as they are understaffed and that is probably due to the workforce situation due to Covid. The recognized their mistake and was very apologetic
Everything was wonderful. We were seated at the window overlooking g the bay. The service and food were fabulous. It was a very special trip down memory lane for us.
Dennis was our waiter and he did a fantastic job of interacting with us allowing us time to enjoy wine and had good conversations with him.
Food was excellent all of my three different types of fish or cooked to perfection. My girlfriend really liked her pasta dish full of large shrimp mussels clams delicious.
We have lived in Monterey for many years and eaten at many restaurants but the tides has the best view of the entire Monterey Bay!
We are staying at the hotel that this restaurant is located in. The food for dinner was disappointing the swordfish was tough and I got the seafood Experian which was tasteless. The breakfast was very good and cooked correctly. I had eggs Benedict that was cooked properly and the sauce was from scratch.
Kinda pricey for the quality of food served. Nothing we ordered was particularly special, although all of it was ok to good. When I booked the dinner through OpenTable I was asked if this was a special occasion, and I stated that it was my girlfriend's birthday. No mention of that once we were seated.
The ambiance was better than average simply because the view of Monterey bay was quite nice. Otherwise, the interior of the restaurant was tired and a bit shabby. I'm a local and if I had been suitably impressed, I was inclined to invite friends to dine there with us next time. I now will wait for better reviews before taking any other guests there. It can, and should, improve if they want to attract locals in the off-season.
A bit outside on the North side of Monterey but the views, tasteful interior decoration and outstanding service make this a gem of a spot. We went there for breakfast with a group of 10, great experience e for everyone
The food was great and so was the service. When I come to Monterey your place is where I want to eat.
If you are interested in a great view with a very unhealthy COVID-unsafe serving on the side then go here. Food is good (not great), drinks generous, and staff really sweet, but management is clueless: no masks on staff and all diners packed together in a huge dining area instead of safely spaced out. It was half empty on Sunday and still they packed us in. Presumably easier for waiting tables but seriously unsafe. Shame on Best Western.
The food was incredibly disappointing. The Caesar salads were fine because it’s really hard to mess that up. But the Monterey Sampler was a joke. The portion of shrimp cocktail was TWO shrimps.😂😂. The artichokes were too tough to eat. And then the pasta pepperadelle had no flavor at all, as in no seasoning. Not even salt or pepper. I’m bummed because we had really hoped not to leave the resort for a few days, but this food is not worth eating again.
The restaurant is cute and the view is amazing. Our server was nice. The food was mediocre at best and extremely overpriced. My husband had the surf and turf for $49. It included a New York steak and TWO shrimp, for $49. The steak was good, the shrimp were fishy tasting and there were only two. The sides were bland potatoes and a vegetable trio of asparagus, carrots and broccoli that were severely under cooked, hard and unflavored. I had the crusted sea bass which was okay, it had roasted potatoes that were under cooked and hard and under seasoned and the same vegetable side that was under cooked and hard and no seasoning. We also had breakfast delivered to our room from here and it was mediocre. The staff was nice but I will not eat here again. It’s super unfortunate because the restaurant is cute and the view is amazing.

Beautiful view but the service, food, and experience were lacking and far from worth the money. I recommend checking out some of the nearby restaurants instead.
The view is amazing, had a nice time relaxing and watching the sunset, however the food was just okay at best, disappointing to go for a special dinner and not be happy with the food, the steak was very tough and the surf and turf was only two shrimp, I had the chicken and it was a dry piece of chicken breast.
The view is beautiful but the food was just ok. My husband and I both ordered the chicken and it was over cooked, could barely cut through it. Also, the service wasn’t great. I took forever for things to come out, including the drinks.
