The food was phenomenal. My wife said the Chicken Chesapeake was the best she's ever had. She's had it at quite a few places since we've been together, so I believe her. The cream of crab soup was amazing. I had a burger with a mini crab cake, and I was not disappointed.
March 11, 2020 was my sixth (60) birthday; my daughter took me out to dinner at Timbuktu Restaurant; and everything was outstanding and beautiful on my day, and I will tell everyone about this day and restaurant. Timbuktu Restaurant!!
We had a party of 10 that apparently deterred the waiter from our section to come and take our orders. We sat for almost a half hour before we went to find the manager to complain. In the meantime people around us were being seated and being waited on with drinks and food promptly coming out. They eventually sent another waiter from a whole different section to wait on our table. Who was nice and accommodating. But, I would never dine there again.
Terrible experience. Had a hair in my crab cake. Manager non chalant about our concerns. Had to ask for refills...... food was over cooked -steak and lobster. Member of party wasn’t informed that kitchen was out of his request until 30 mins after order. Smh. So disappointed. Two hours wasted
Make sure you make reservations through OpenTable of course :-), there was a bit of a wait. It was a bit crowded with birthday parties, so the attentiveness of the waiter wasn't the best. But the crabcake was great! I would definitely go back, just make sure I reserve a table.

The food was very good. Not quite as good as I remembered from our first visit. We weren’t there for a few years. But when we came to stay in the area again, I immediately made a reservation because the first visit made that much of a positive impression. Being a non chain and non franchise makes the minor things easier to not get worked up over. The food was still fresh and good, but not overwhelming. The crab cake had very little filler, which is always a big plus in my book. The service was quite lacking. But in all fairness our visit was at 7:15 on a Saturday evening. Also, it may have just been our server. I had to ask multiple times for a wine menu and it wasn’t even suggested during ordering. Not good up sell tactic. I asked for the menu at least 3 times and then the waiter simply disappeared for long lengths of time without checking in. But by the end of our visit, he seemed to finally get it together. Overall, an enjoyable visit. I may not rush to make it a definite, but I also won’t cross it off my list.
The food was fantastic! I think the place need some updates, utensils need to be change and do some dustings. Ceilings has spider web and dust that's hanging.
We were a party of six. Two couples paid with cash and we charged the balance. When the server came back with our portion of the bill, it was $10 more than supposed to be. The server claimed that we had given $10 less than what we had given him. When in fact two people had counted the cash twice because we had split the bill 3 ways. I don’t know if it was our server or someone at the register but someone took $10 of the cash and then denied it. So our portion of the bill was $10 more than it should have been. We will not go back to Timbuktu.
Food was excellent , Service very good - we were seated next to a plate accumulation area and could hardly hear ourselves talk, the waiter took our drink order and wanted to take our food order at the same time - I said we will wait for our drinks - if I had known the drinks would take 15 minutes I wouldn't have waited - I order a Jack Daniels Call drink Manhattan - what I got was a bar whiskey rail drink - I ask the waiter to double ck for my second drink - when it came it was actually worse than my first drink and certainly wasn't Jack Daniels. To top it off I order a Reuben to take home - when I heated it up the next day I was stunned to see it was made out of Roast Beef not Corn Beef - no Chef makes that mistake so the cleaning lady must have made my sandwich - I threw it out.
Hadn’t visited in a while. Everything was absolutely perfect. The crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had. Our server, Tony, was wonderful and anticipated all of our needs.
I dined here for my birthday and it was AMAZING!!!! I was very pleased with the meal, the service for my family and I was amazing. The Hanover location really blessed us with an amazing waiter, Zack. He was phenomenal.
From my first visit, the biggest reason I would recommend for people to visit this restaurant is the quality of the food. I put an emphasis on "quality of the food" becasue my food was prepared the way that I asked for it. Customer services was great as well. Our server made sure that we were accommodated for during our visit. Great place for date nights.
The dining room was basically empty so very quiet. The service was personable and professional. The children’s menu said one thing and price which did not match what was charged. We went on steak night and the food quality was not worth the price. The crab cake and slaw however was good. Probably won’t be back.

It's a great place for seafood and beef. Everything is delicious. The only catch is service can be off and on, with some long periods of waiting when its halfway or more filled (which has been the case every time I've gone). We requested more water for anyone who walked by! The tables were too small to hold used dishes and new dishes so we had to put them (gasp!) on the floor because our waiter disappeared for 15 minutes at a time.
I am not sure what happened but this use to be my favorite spot. In the pass few years the quality has dropped drastically. The macaroni and cheese was extra watery and tasteless, we received our appetizer after our food, I never received my hot tea and I was so disappointed I never even brought it up to the waiter. He was nice enough but I was just let down by it all. Not returning again. Smh....

Although the food was good, the experience was not. Had reservations but still had to wait the same timeframe as the walk-ins. There is no barrier between the lobby and the dining area so everytime the door was opened a draft filled the room. Our server was MIA most of the time, although the other servers around us seemed on point, we had to keep asking others for assistance...he bought out bread but no plates, my husband didn't have utensils, we had no salt or pepper on our table, etc. And the icing on the cake, there was no toilet paper in 2 of the three bathroom stalls. I will not go again nor recommend to anyone. This restaurant used to be excellent but has declined over the last few years. Very disappointed.

First time. Went on valentine's day. Even though we made reservations way in advance they sat us in the bar area near the kitchen. The kitchen was dirty and the cook staff acted unprofessional to be in earshot of customers. My lobster tail was way overcooked and the steak was way undercooked. Finally the bill came out to about $200. I would have rather gone to Ruth's Chris or Prime Rib for that cost. Felt ripped off. Not likely to go back.
Booked Bar seating and the hostess allowed us to change to Dining. She was the best customer oriented that night. Customer service In the dining room was absolutely Terrible! Visited on Valentine’s Day and they had a select menu. Not anything what I would imagine because I already view the menu and wanted to order something that was not on that special menu. Despite the long wait time for the food, My Wife and I food came to the table cold. She decided to still eat her’s since she was had not eaten since earlier that day. I ordered Ribs, when they arrived, I sent then back to the Kitchen. They came back out again after 5 mins, Luke warm. I told the server to keep them. Asked for the manager named Om. Just wanted to inform him of the situation since there were about 4 other tables looking for him to discuss the same thing. They were a lot of open tables, so it did not appear to be really busy. Finally came over to visit the table and did not even apologize or address the kitchen. I was recommended this place by 6 different people, that this was a terrible idea. Will not be visiting again. Now I have heard that the service has decreased over the years. This company needs to get it together and reevaluate, I wasn’t looking for a refund, but with over 70 years in business, I wanted to see Omar just apologize for the inconvenience to all the guest that had issues.
