Superb, shame we only discovered just before another Covid-19 closure. Lots of interesting dishes, great service.

Fantastic food and brilliant service. For a local restaurant to be this good is amazing. Fresh fish, perfectly cooked meat, balanced flavors and an extensive choice of menu makes this an easy place to make meat eaters and veggies happy. Small number of covers and a great chef with friendly service.

Third time here and its still FAB. only thing that was a little bit of a downer was that they didn't have our reservation after booking 4 days earlier AND reconfirming the day before. It was sorted in the end after I showed both emails. I think however that this was a system failure between OpenTable and the restaurant. The lamb cutlets were overdone but we scoffed the rest and ordered more. A true local gem. Will be back again soon!

This is the second time we have visited since moving to the area and we were absolutely delighted again. The food is sensational and the service makes you feel like a celebrity guest. Outstanding.

Every time we visit Toriton Izakaya we find something different to try. We are never disappointed and it great to be able to eat such great food so close to home. It’s not surprising that it is always busy!

We had a set menu, of which there are three. More than enough food, with only one or two misses in terms of taste but more than compensated for by the winners. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Incredible food, you will not find a more authentic japanese dining experience unless you go uptown london and pay twice as much. Very talented chef and servers. A small family run business, hope they prosper over the many years to come here. Will have to visit again soon.

Delicious food, good service, friendly staff and great value

Rarely do we have a spare Friday lunchtime opportunity together so my wife and I decided to visit a local restaurant to support them through these difficult times.

Living outside London usually means that we don’t have the option of really amazing freshly prepared sushi but Toriton Izakaya changes that!

The restaurant is near the Aldi in Coulsdon so easy to find on this first visit. As with any restaurant visit in these days of Covid-19 there were plastic screens and sanitiser provided. The restaurant is small and has 5 tables around a bar/servery. The kitchen appears to be in the basement so could not see the food preparation areas which perhaps we would have liked for the theatre of sushi being made.

The waiting staff were both very pleasant and efficient with the right level of attentiveness.

We ordered a couple of appetisers, Chicken Gyoza and Seared Beef Tataki. Both presently immaculately and at the right temperature. The Tataki was perfect and the taste was memorable to say the least! The Gyozas were cooked delicately with thin pastry and a decadent centre, delicious.

For the next course we shared an Assorted Iso set and a Kyu Nigiri box, what delightful excellent sushi. We never thought this quality could be available in sleepy Surrey.

To finish off we tried two of the mouthwatering fruity desserts, one with passion fruit and the other was mango. The flavours were wonderful.

Before we knew it 45 mins had passed and we were safely sent on our way after some Jasmine Tea and a £55 bill for two, not considered cheap but the quality is as good as any Central London establishment.

Great flavour and nice staff. Potions too small and expensive. Covid measures scary - plastic sheets between tables but wat to cramped for comfort and didn't feel safe

We absolutely love this family run restaurant. The food is amazing both in taste & presentation. The service always so friendly. Very happy it has survived the challenges of COVID & we look forward to many more visits.

I booked a table for my friend and I on Wednesday night. This is the second time I've been, and it was a lot busier than last time, which was actually quite nice, as it had a bit more of a buzz. The food was absolutely lovely and fresh, we had one of the set menus but changed a couple of the dishes without any problems. The service is really friendly there and I would definitely be going back there again.

Had to ask for hand sanitiser. Sitting on a stool at the age of 82 is not the most comfortable way to eat. The sliding door made a big draught every time it opened. Would like to see the food being prepared. The edamame was very, very salty and the beans were hard. No apology or explanation. Service rather slap dash, no courtesy.

Food was amazing but be warned it's a very small restaurant with as many tables as possible crammed in, and so can feel a little claustrophobic. I will still go back though, but likely on a week day when it's quieter.

We had such a lovely evening here. The food was exceptional and the service so friendly. Between 3 of us we went for the set menu for 2 and some extra dishes. All were so tasty. Have recommended to others already.

The chef spent 4 years working in the kitchen of a very well known Sushi restaurant before opening this eatery so the food is fantastic, it is owned by him and his wife who works as the manager. The atmosphere is friendly and very well run, the staff are very attentive and eating there is an enjoyable experience, we will be returning soon. Highly recommend the fixed price menus at £30 and £50 per person, we didn't have them when we last went but watched people served the menu while we were there, looked amazing.

Being new to the area we have been looking for restaurant gems to visit regularly. We've found some nice pubs, good tapas bar and nice Italian. Toriton fills our need for Japanese restaurant very well.

Great food. One of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to. The set menus are a great selection. I will definitely return to try the other set menus.

Flavours of food were exquisite. Great evening with friends.
