Towne House + Douro Steakhouse
Everything was excellent. Anderson was very attentive to us.
Great ambiance and the food was spectacular. I would love to return in Spring to enjoy the outside dining.
Facility was very nice. Bartender, Morgan, extremely nice, great drinks and very attentive. Also very engaged with not only our needs but the patrons around us, all while training a new employee. Food, I had Portuguese steak, slightly undercooked. Wife had Filet felt it was good, not blown away but cooked perfect. Will definitely return but in a city with increasing restaurants opening even during pandemic you’re battling every restaurants Portuguese Steak. I’m interested in some of the other entree offerings.
Fancy , great service and atmosphere. Good fit for downtown
Waited 20 minutes before a waiter came to the table. Place was barely social distancing people switching tables and moving freely with no masks. The food was very plain which was surprising for Portuguese food. Food and service poor. Pork was tough. Not recommended. Will not be returning.
Great food and great atmosphere.I will be back again
We look forward to returning and give the tapas side a try. Beautiful place!
Food wasn't great at all, scallops were salty no mushrooms on mushroom risotto and some plates came out cold. Salmon was not tasty and barely had any sauce to help it.
Service was very slow, we waited a VERY long time for just about EVERYTHING even a simple can i please have a fork.
Espresso was cold and didn't taste good, not sure how they can mess that up with a "coffee shop" attached.
Dining room was FULL with seating not 6ft apart...FYI.
Really nice place , drinks were good, service was really good , food was ok . Calamari seemed to be frozen and just fried and food was underseasoned but I am married to a chef lol too bad food wasn’t as good as everything else , the potential is there
Seafood was not fresh.
- Beautiful place with a wonderful evening ambiance.
- Service is spot on.
- Drinks were good and fairly priced.
- my wife’s grilled octopus was beautifully prepared and she enjoyed it. Smallish portion of actual octopus but overall, reasonably priced.
- Finally, a restaurant with good espresso!
- Plenty of area parking
- They do not observe the 6’ social distance rule with the seating, not even close. I’m not an overly sensitive COVID baby but, they weren’t even trying.
- My Alentejana was truly terrible. The broth was gray, thin/watery and completely void of flavor. I actually had to ask for a salt shaker. The potatoes were soggy/pale like they hadn’t been recently fried or for long enough. The meat was tender yet oddly dry in the mouth. I knew it was going to suck the moment he placed it down, it just didn’t look right and was lazily prepared. At $18, I could have thrown a rock in ANY direction and gotten a better prepared Alentejana for $10 and I would have been stupid happy with it. This was embarrassing to Portuguese people.
- Prices are on the high side for what they are offering. They aren’t doing anything innovative or special to command some of their prices. This isn’t Providence.
- Tiramisu desert was just ok. Very soggy and not overly flavorful. Not enough mascarpone cheese I suspect. Rookie mistake, if you prepare them early and pop them in the fridge, be sure to add the cocoa garnish when ready to serve, not BEFORE. It just turns into brown mud, loses all elegance, and leaves the customer questioning freshness. Lose the bowl too and do a proper slice with side garnish. This is why it turned out soggy. Lazy setup at a premium price.
Overall, It was a decent experience and they have great potential. They need to work out some rookie mistakes and improve both the value and consistency of their food if they are going to impose Providence restaurant pricing in Fall River and have a chance at surviving.
I’ll try them again in 6mo.
My wife and I both had steak plates.
I got the ribeye ($55) with mashed potatoes. Steak was bland and had no flavor. It tasted like it was boiled, then shortly grilled.
My wife had the Portuguese steak plate. Sauce was flavorless and the steak was bland.
Drinks, cheese appetizer and dessert (ride pudding and tiramisu) was great.
Waiter was great and very attentive.
Overall, it wasn’t a good value for the food we had. I really wanted to like this place.
The food, drinks, and service are excellent here!!! Did not have to wait long for our food and the atmosphere was perfect. Soft music in the background. Definately will return!!
Prices of a high end steakhouse but not the quality of one. Love the environment and the decor. Definitely will go back for drinks and maybe apps.
Service is awful drinks and food took forever typical new restaurant flaws. Will only go back if it's an accident..
Decor is very nice. Server was good, but lacked time and would be missing for a while due to being busy. Food was delicious. Mozambique fries are not on the menu, but was suggested and were good. Would definitely go back.
The restaurant is beautiful. The decor is tasteful and upscale. Our waiter lacked knowledge about the most basic menu items. We had to guide the server as to what needed to be done. The Portuguese steak was perfectly cooked and the stuffed salmon was also good. The martinis are a good value at $10 each.
Great food. We picked a busy night so service was a little slow, but understandable. Would deffinately go again.
The food was excellent on this Saturday night, however, the outdoor patio was not ready for guests. It had to be arranged, wiped down and heaters turned on for our dinner. It seemed like they didn't plan for our outdoor reservation.
The staff did not know how to turn on the outdoor heaters, so I had to do it myself.
All of our meals were excellent, and the waitstaff was very nice.
Sat near the main entrance had to keep our coats on because of the air conditioner. Food was overpriced for the quality, service was slow had to repeat our requests for water twice, did not enjoy experience. Doubt we will return.
The cheese platter, scallops, and octopus were excellent! Service was great! Would highly recommend.
This was my second time at the restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious in the atmosphere was nice! Will definitely be going back and recommend it to family and friends.
Waitress was awesome I felt bad for her. Our drinks were the same as the first time we went 9/12 it was delish this is why we went back. My salmon was salty. The stuffing was yellow gross. First time was delicious. Our friends had to send their food back chicken was raw
Food is good service is slow. Need to improve in that area.
Wait a little too long for main course & then to get our tab/bill. Food was delicious but quantity not enough for 2 or meal was supposedly for 2 people
Everything was great, great food , great atmosphere and great service
Our server was great- attentive, friendly. The vibe was very cool- we sat on the back deck which is apparently the "less cool" location, but it had great ambiance. We loved it. We had two tasty bottles of wine, three really good apps...but two entrees that were really good and two that were less good. The bacalhau a braz and the lobster pasta were great; the Portuguese steak and tuna were less good.
The kitchen seemed slammed and the menu is kinda long which probably kept them in the weeds all night, the restaurant is new...so we're totally coming back again to give Townehouse a second try. If all the entrees had been great, this would have been a 4-5 star experience.
Will definitely go back my food was good but the steak could use some seasoning . If it wasn’t for the amazing sauce I would have been disappointed. The place is gorgeous and the service was top notch. Will be trying again with friends.
Dinner with our son’s god parents
This was a party of eight and all of our first time there. Food was just OK. Codfish was extremely dry and had to be sent back. This was definitely a one and done for my group.
Cocktails, Manhattan- perfect
Appetizer, baked clams - tasty, good portion
Entree, Swordfish - moist, delicious
Service - friendly, efficient
This party of 2 intends to return.
We were booked for outside but there were no lights and it was at 7 and getting dark, moved inside no problem but we ordered our food at 7:30and it didn’t arrive to our table until almost 9 and was room temperature. Sword fish was shriveled up, taste was ok but I would never order it again, overall disappointed. This was not our first time here but all the other times have been great, an off night for sure.
When we arrived and were checking in the hostess stated we did not make the reservation to sit on the Douro Steakhouse side. Not sure how to do that through open table as they didn’t clarify seating options when making reservations. They sat us on the tapas and oyster bar side and we were able to order off the Douro menu. Food was very good. Table server was ok. She appeared to play favorites with certain tables while disregarding other tables. I would recommend to others and will visit again.
bread is a bit subpar, need better steak knives, but wine list is fantastic, and food as well as service are both very good
We started with chowder and the Mozambique fries (delicious) then got the tomahawk steak and added mash and mixed veggies to share. Our kids had tenders fries and wings and they loved it. Also had a delicious red sangria. Everything was amazing!
Atmosphere, service, and food are all excellent. It is just what Fall River needed. Have been twice already, and will be back!
The drink menu is fantastic, the stuffed salmon was perfect! The problem was that we intended on having more to drink and eat but it took 45 min between the waitress checking on us, we had water for the first 30 min before placing a drink order. We were often forgotten about, we were not in a rush but in 2.5 hours we had 2 drinks an appetizer and an entre, and we had decided on what to eat and drink shortly after arriving. The meals took an hour to come out and the filet mignon medallions we overcooked, I mentioned it and the waitress said "oh sorry" and did not offer any solution and walked away (they were still good but underwhelming for a steakhouse). This did not seem like the normal service that this place has and seemed to be isolated to this one employee, I really look forward to coming back but I am very hesitant if this is the normal service to expect. I will gladly follow up with this review after a second visit.
This place did not live up to the hype. Our waiter was extremely nice but he seemed extremely overwhelmed. Maybe more waitstaff and less table cleaners. The food itself was just ok. I ordered the grilled salmon. Unfortunately it was overcooked and dry. One of my friends ordered the Portuguese steak which looked like a good piece of meat but there was no sauce. The best part of our meal was the passion fruit sangria.
Food what bland no flavor our waitress was good but wait for our meal was terrible !!!
