Traktir - Tarzana
Great place and food was great.
Will definitely be coming back.
Great food and nice place to celebrate any ocasions but expensive !!!!!
Wanted to try this since I first drove past. Great intro to Russian food - waitress was SO nice!!
Lots of great appetizers but be warned you can easily fill up on those. We had the Chix mushroom crepe & combo dumplings - both really good. Killer homemade vodkas - had the pickled one and was maybe the best "dirty" martini I've had.
The sizzling pork chops were really good. Mushrooms and gravy abound on many of their items. Portions are totally fine so not sure where those reviews are coming from.
Nice interior, was busy and I'd say 90% of customers were Russian as that was being spoken all around me - so I'll take that to mean it's authentic!!
My partner and I went here for Christmas dinner and wow! What a fantastic experience! Our server could NOT have been any nicer. The ambience is charming. The food was incredible. We started off with drinks, he had one called the Hangover Cure (kind of like a dirty martini made with house-infused pickle vodka) that he raved about, I had a berry concoction with raspberry-infused vodka that I also thoroughly enjoyed. We started off with the Olivier Salad that we split (to save room for dessert...glad we did that!). It's a Russian version of potato salad and it was quite tasty. For his entree, my partner had the Lula Kebab and he ate every bite. It came with mashed potatoes and cabbage slaw. I chose the chicken shashlik and it was AMAZING. Full of flavor, grilled perfectly and so juicy. I chose the roasted potatoes and they were also superb! Perfectly cooked and so tasty. We both had the napoleon cake for dessert and like everything else that night, it did not disappoint. Very luscious! We can't wait to go back and try more items from the menu. Well priced, good portions and excellent food.
We were referred to Traktir from a friend, and were not disappointed. My wife was raised in a Russian household, so the food was very familiar to her. We had the Shuba, Vinigrette and Pelmeni. All were delicious!!! We would definitely recommend Traktir to all. If you've not had Russian cuisine, this is definitely a go to.
Very friendly excellent service
We were a group of 4 women. Ordered a set of 8 flavored shots and shared. Highly recommend this Ordered chicken in mushroom blintzes - delicious. Shared all dishes. Food was great. Service was wonderful. Must try
The food is absolutely amazing! Everything was so flavorful and the portions are huge. We had the stroganoff, the stuffed cabbage, the chicken schnitzel and the chicken kabob and we couldn’t decide which was the favorite because they were all so good. Don’t forget the pierogis and the savory mushroom chicken blintzes. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Food is very good but if they have a party in the back the service is very slow
We've been meaning to try Traktir for several months so we went with another couple and were very impressed by the restaurant. It serves mostly Russian food (the name means "saloon" - like the type one would have found in the 1800's where you could "park" your horse). The choices we made were excellent (chicken in crepes with a mushroom sauce - very large portion), bread stuffed with melting cheese (really delicious), 3 of us had the Chicken Kiev (big portions, had one piece for dinner at home the next night), and I had chopped chicken in a delicious bread crumb type cover, then fried til very very crisp.
They were served with a cabbage salad on the side and little crisp potato fries. We all shared a chocolate cake which was to die for. We ended the meal with decaf cappuccino. We would go back.
Our server was very attentive, opened the wine we brought ($15 corkage), served it, brought out the dishes in a way that we never felt hurried - he put thought into when to do what.
Excellent service, cold beet borscht the best anywhere! Stuffed cabbage was enormous and delicious. All the employees seem to go out of their way to answer questions and make dining a very pleasant experience.
They need Bigger AC units
This is a really good place to try authentic russian food and be immersed in russian culture. The food was very decent and we really love the staff, who took great care of us.
We tried several items on the menu and each was delicious . Unfortunately didn't
have room enough to try all the dishes that looked so appealing.
Guess I'll just have to go back!
Lovely people serving us.
Your restaurant is great. I particularly enjoyed the hot borscht and then the cold borscht which I had the last visit. Also, the lamb shashlik is great! Spasiba!
Traktir is a wonderful place to share with friends. The food is absolutely delicious. We are not drinkers, but the array of vodkas looked amazing.
We were truly impressed with Traktir. The staff was helpful, easy to talk to, and made us feel very comfortable. We came in early on a Friday and none of the group was very familiar with Russian food. We wanted to try out a lot of dishes and our servers gave great explanations and helped us decide how much to order (we actually overordered, but that was not their fault, we just wanted to try so much!). Even when there was a small miscommunication in the kitchen (we were given a full order of sauerkraut dumplings instead of the combination dumplings we'd ordered), the servers helped us out and gave us extras of a different flavor!
I loved the flavors of everything as well. We ordered the whole branzino, the dumplings, herring in a fur coat, chicken blintzes, and the chicken Kiev. Everything was buttery and beautiful! I was truly surprised by the depth of flavor and the impact each dish made. The chicken blintzes in particular were phenomenal, a must have. The restaurant is a little pricey (more for special occasions or when you have out of town guests) but it's well worth the money. This place is an experience and was a remarkable introduction to Russian food. I can't wait to go back!
This place is amazing! The service and hospitality is top notch.
All food categories are absolutely delicious. We shared couple appetizers (like shuba herring, and pelmeni), and each of us had an entree.
They have really impressive selection of infused vodkas, and also quite interesting cocktail menu based on those vodkas. I really enjoyed that Verry Berry drink.
We will definitely be back soon!
Lovely waitress from Moldovia. She was very helpful with food explanations and recommendations. My husband loved his herring, and my beet soup was fabulous. Portions are huge so we took home most of my amazingly delicious spatchcock chicken, and one of his chicken Kiev’s. We will definitely be back soon.
Awesome. Loved the food , loved the service . All great. Can’t wait to return.
Thank you so much for dining with us and taking your time to write a five star review, we truly appreciate it and hope you to see you again soon:)
Beautiful space, but the food was awful. Flavorless and the stuffed cabbage was bland and the Beef Stroganoff was disgusting. The meat was soft but it was not at all beef stroganoff as you would think. No mushrooms, no cream sauce. Burnt meat in a pool of grease. Potatoes were instant. Not real.
Great service from Lana. Her recommendations were marvelous. We had the chicken blintzes as an appetizer and I’ve been dreaming about that dish since we were there.
