We had reservations for our family for my husband's Birthday on a Saturday night. It was early enough, so it wasn't super crowded. The reception asked if we had a preference for seating. We requested a booth; which wasn't a problem. The booth cushions were taped with silver masking tape to cover the ripped cushions. My husband sat on an uncomfortable coil. The décor was rustic and a little run down. There was no music playing. The kitchen pick up area was open to the dining room, so that conversations between the wait staff and kitchen were easily heard. Our waitress was super responsive and attentive. No complaints with the staff. There was no bread brought to our table, or any other table that we saw. We all ordered pasta entrees or chicken entrees. The portions were small and tasted quite bland. It was not worth the money we spent that evening. We won't be returning.
Cozy restaurant outside of directly downtown Princeton. Good selection for entrees. Meal was served at correct temperatures and promptly. DH ordered Veal Parm, kids shared a Four Cheese Pizza and I had Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. Salad didn't stint on beets and was dressed just right. Garlic Knots we shared were AMAZING. Unobtrusive but good service. Restaurant is loud, however. Party of 8 next to us made it necessary to raise our voices. Best for family or group dining with that level of noise. Not for a romantic evening out IMO.
Comfortable, low noise level, and good food and service, overall a good experience!
Waiter was not very attentive. He also was not very aware of what was on the specials menu.
Very good casual Italian dining. There food was good, as was the service. BYOB too!
What a gem! We have dined in Princeton many times, but never found this place before. It's just a few blocks north of the main center of town, and it is justifiably a very popular restaurant! The service was perfect, the appetizer and pasta dishes we had were delicious, and you have to try the unique zeppolis for dessert - yum!! There was a big table of about 15 people right behind us so it was a little loud, but that is probably not the norm. It's a BYO, which helps keep the price down, but overall it's really well-priced and we will be back!
we dine there about once per month and we love it. always a pleasant time.
excellent food, small but quiet, and BYOB is a plus making it affordable. lots of parking available which is huge plus too
Spent Christmas Eve dinner here, it was our first time. Food was amazing and service to our family was great! We will def be back!
Food was very good. Service was also very good but a bit overpriced for the size of each meal.
Love it. Friendly hometown place.
Very nice place, with good pizza and excellent canolli.
Reservation worked perfectly and the zero dollars BYOB policy is great.
A lovely evening, good service, terrific fresh and tasty food. Highly recommend.
1st time eating here and very pleased with the food, service and value. Would definitely go back and try different dishes.
The pasta fazool soup is amazing - really tasted like my family's recipe. I had a lovely buratta and fig sauce with arugula salad that was spectacular!
Best Italian food in the Princeton (and surrounding) area by far. The authentic family recipes makes every dish seem like you are in the Procaccini kitchen in Italy! Starts out with a warm welcome and excellent service follows. Bravo!
John always makes you feel welcome and the food is always superb.
A very casual atmosphere but the food is always fantastic!
We had a horrible dining experience, it started out with not getting any bread and with the soup came with a teaspoon. When we asked for soup spoons, the head waiter was rude and told us the soup spoons are in the dishwasher. We asked for water and NEVER received it. There wasn't any pepper or salt, we basically had to ask for every little thing. Worst experience ever, extremely poor customer service. Never again!
I had only been to this restaurant once two years ago but because of the location and available parking met a friend here. The menu included lunch and dinner selections at lunch time with a nice price spread. My friend selected a meat sauce pasta dish with a very fresh green side salad and with coffee paid only $13 before tip. I selected a dinner option of tortellini with asparagus tips and a salad and coffee for $23 before tip. The food was attractively prepared and very tasty. The decor is nothing slightly worn but comfortable and the service pleasant.
Great, not much to look at except in the dish. It is great food! Nice people I am going back!
Very delicious, and wait staff is very polite! Would most definitely return in the future.
Get the "Pasta Fazool"!!! It's made to order and amazing. Pasta was perfect, and can't wait to go back!
Good was very good and great service. This place is a Local gem
Our waitress was fantastic and one of the best BYOB spots in the Princeton area!!!
Lovely place with excellent food and service. Frutta de mare, and the gnocchi were excellent. Our 4th time here and the quality has been consistent every time. Had a great time...thank you.
We made the reservation via Open a table and left a note that the dinner was for two kids birthday party. The restaurant was significantly short of waiter/waitress. No ushers, no greeting, and we waited for 5 min to be seated with a waitress. Then, there is no menu, no water for another 5 mins, although the time we arrived it was only half full. After we ordered, the appetizers came little longer than normal time. There was another 30 mins waited for entrees. It made two kids very hungry and they were not able to wait much longer.
The food is average. The service is not acceptable. Not recommend for any special occasion. Not recommend for kids at all.
It is one of my favest restaurants in the area. The food was great, but I do think overall it was better a year or so ago. Osteria Procaccini is consistently good, just 2 miles away, I think same owner/family. Having said all this, i would still recommend it.
We had been waiting over an hour for our food. When I questioned the server, Brigid, and someone who appeared to be a manager, Brigid started to argue with me. She told me she was waiting to bring the food out until the starter was finished. Garlic knots! Bread that you eat with your meal! Our drinks were never refilled. Brigid was rude to us the rest of the meal. The manager never came by with any sort of apology. I will also mention that this was at 8:15-9:30pm when there were about 3 other tables in the place so they weren’t busy. That was our first visit and it will be our last!
Fabulous experience from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious!!
Met my daughter for mid week dinner, so we decided to try someplace new. I’m so happy we decided on this gem. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. The food was amazing, in fact the best I’ve had in months. Our waiter was new but he was the most kind & attentive wait staff we have ever had. We loved everything. Can’t wait to return.
Food was ok, server was a bit rude
The food portions have been reduced significantly since we last went here months ago. The veal marsala was just ok. There really was not much flavor to it, nor enough sauce on it. It looked like they cut one piece of veal into 3-4 small pieces and served that as the entree. We won't be going there again.
Chose this restaurant because of the outdoor dining. Food was good but service was not great. Had a food allergy and the waiter was not sure of ingredients or what what in 3 of the selections I inquired about. I'm not convinced he understood or even asked the chef. Took way to long to check on us after our meal was served and then to bring us the check. Would have preferred that he told us it was his first night- would have been more understanding. Music was awful. Started out with loud spanish music then changed to christmas then frank sinatra. Sound system needs updating and using pandora would solve the problem. Outdoor chairs were missing slats on the back (there should be 4) and my dinner partner ripped the back of the shirt on a rusty screw from a missing slat. Needs a little polishing.
Great gluten free accommodations. Seated immediately and food was served quickly. Great experience. Definitely will go back.
They also offer take out!
We had a wonderful time. As always the food was delicious and the waitstaff wonderful. We were celebrating a birthday and our server even put a candle in my daughter's cake. We'll definitely be back.
Very interesting dishes I had not known before. The flatbread with Burrata, bacon and fresh peaches was outstanding! The complimentary wine, often at other places experienced as flat and cheap, was fine and substantially.
Second visit. We’re becoming big fans. Sat outside this time and enjoyed the bistro feel. Really liked our waiter. And someone in that kitchen knows how to make gnocchi.
