Joseph was an impeccable waiter. He took excellent care of me. He paid very close attention to detail and went out of his way to make sure that my visit was a pleasant one. I’ll definitely go back.
Very nice night out.
The place was wonderful. Service was great. Food was delicious.
The food was phenomenal and the wine choices were excellent. I had the usual struggle, in spite of having made a reservation a day in advance, with being offered a high top or a seat at the bar instead of a proper table because that is the usual fate of single women dining alone. It did not take great effort to get a proper table in the dining room. All of my experience after that was excellent.
First time there. Quailty preparation, quality presentation, ample portions. Service was very strong! Anthony was attentive at all of the right times . Will return to try other items on the menu!
We wanted a special evening to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner together while visiting our son who lives in the city. The scallops were divine. The server Anthony was outstanding. Thanks for a fantastic memory.
We had never been to Truluck’s before even though it’s in our neighborhood
Thanksgiving dinner there was outstanding. The food was delicious and plentiful (we left with as much as we ate). Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive.
Maybe we’ll observe Thanksgiving there again next year.
I hardly review, but this was the worst service and quality of food that I’ve had. Truly disappointing.
The filet was way over seasoned…and dry.
Crab cake was very good
Loved lyonnaise potatoes
Our server Joseph was wonderful. Food was really great. Stone crab and mustard sauce, excellent! Ora Salmon: amazing! We are neighbors and love this restaurant!
The service was a little bit rude and careless and it was overpriced even the bread was charged
Amazing service and food. Also very expensive and slightly overpriced
Great experience! Our server Justin was amazing! He was very attentive and gave great recommendations. The smoke and mirrors & Voila! cocktails were both delicious! The Sonoma Greens Salad was great! Had the South African Lobster Tail and it was outstanding! For dessert, highly recommend the carrot cake, you will definitely have plenty to take home!
First, if you don't like to dine with loud music, get a table away from the live singer (who also wasn't very good). Our table was at the other end of the restaurant, and mercifully the speakers overhead were not terribly loud. I don't understand why some restaurants think music so loud you can't converse with your table-mates is a good thing. As for the food, my husband had the bronzino and found it extremely heavy on the garlic. The seared Hawaiian ahi was good, though not my favorite way to have fish, so maybe I didn't adequately appreciate it. The broccoli my husband ordered as a side didn't come with the entree, so we cancelled it. The chocolate cake for dessert was definitely very good, probably the highlight of the meal, and way more than even 2 people could eat. Big enough for 4, for sure.
We do not eat shellfish, which is the majority of the menu, so maybe those dishes are more outstanding.
I wish they had not changed from a wonderful high end steak house to just a moderate but pricy seafood restaurant. I loved the old place.
Retirement and Birthday celebration
Great meal and a good time.
A little too loud for us, but food and service were awesome.
Past experiences have been wonderful, yesterday was a disappointment. Service was far below normal expectations. My wife’s salmon was exceptional, I ordered the king crab leg which was prepared perfectly, but was unopened making me work with forks to get at the meat. When I asked the waitress for help, I assumed she would take it to kitchen and ask them to split them. Instead, she brought me an order of stone crab, which I sent back.
Going to be a bit before we return.
Food was ok. Crab fried rice is not good. Pretty expensive.
Piano player was way to loud in the bar at 5:00 pm. It was hard to carry on a conversation
First time to Truluck. Fantastic experience, great service and the food was delicious. Would like to go back and sit in the bar area which looked fun and interesting
Overall a great experience, but feel the food has suffered a bit.
David was new and outdid the woman who shadowed him. A beautiful soul!
Everything was excellent. Sunken treasure is amazing.
I highly recommend Truluck's. My friends and I could not stop commenting about the taste and quality of everything we ordered. The service and atmosphere was exceptional. Thanks for not playing techno music, which I hate, and is so prevalent these days.
Great place if you’re celebrating or want to impress. Loved their selection of seafood including stone crabs. Service was impeccable - choice of citrus or cucumber water, warm lavender towel to clean your hands. Wow! They make some interesting cocktails. Will definitely come back.
We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Had a wonderful dinner with spectacular service. Justin was great!
First I must say I've been to Trulucks many times , enjoyed apps ,drinks & dinners at the bar in the lounge. And folks it's a great lounge with live piano music weekends and a beautiful vibe to it but mostly not to crowded so perfect for s date night or
romantic evening. The bartenders are attentive, friendly and great. Next I must say im a local living only a few blocks away and dining out to all the best spots within the
Rush Street/Gold Coast area and Trulucks is a true Gem if your looking for a upscale experiance with high quality fish and steaks in a great enegant environment with three very different distinct dining areas to choose from ( Lounge , Bottle Room & Main dining room ) . Which brings me to my latest experiance (this past weekend). With reservations and a particular table request and my conversation confirming my table request 24 hours prior to arrive our table was not reserved and being used upon arrival. I was very disappointed as we
where celebrating my brother birthday and wanted to be by the piano area. Yet
with this said we where given a booth in the clubby bottle room (wood walls) with cute celebration stars on the table and a acknowledgement by the staff that we wherecelebrating a birthday. Dinner & wine selection was fantastic as usual in this room where you can hear the music without seeing the pianist. Service this night was off wine arrive within minutes of ordering and mixed drinks 25 minutes later after asking. Food arrived off pace but was delicious. I chalk this evening up to just a busy yet off night. The manager did come by twice to check in with us and showed a genuine concern and comped our mixed drinks. Yet folks this would not
keep me from enjoying the Truluck experiance again ( we call can have a ruff night) . The main dining room has a very contemporary elegant experiance not to missed ( chandelier's and all ) yet on the quieter side side. The surprise flaming baked Alaska birthday cake was fantastic. Don't miss
It was our first time at Truluck's. Overall, we were very happy. The food and the service were very good.
A wonderful dining experience!
Ambiance was as expected… very comfortable for a dinner for two. The food was average..must less than expected especially for the price. The Caesar salad was now crisp and wilted over drenched dressing. My wife’s filet was overcooked.
Wait staff was superb and overall experience was acceptable but not an over arching recommendation. Maybe too many press clippings were read.
Many other options in Chicago. May explore others next time out.
We have always been Truluck fans and were excited that they had reopened. The ambiance and service were as wonderful as always however the South African lobster, which was $110, was terrible! It didn’t taste anything like South African lobster and had a metallic aftertaste.
Outstanding! This place never disappoints!
The food and service was excellent. We were surprised at the quality and taste of the vegan options as well.
Loved everything about our evening! Peter’s service was outstanding. We enjoyed Caesar salad, Ahi tuna, lobster tail and a scrumptious piece of chocolate cake. Every bite was a delight. Highly recommend!!
Absolutely excellent evening for our anniversary dinner.
