Service tonight was horrible all around. They just reopened and too many mishaps. Food came out wrong and at different times or not at all. Drinks from bar took way too long. Too expensive to have this many mistakes!
Overall we were underwhelmed. The service was so slow. We waited 10 mins to place a drink order and get our servers attention... And it didn't get better from there. I'm not sure they are adjusting to the new casual plan yet.... The food was good but not great. Steak Tartre was unappetizing. The flavors were just off. I'm sad we missed the formal dining experience here. I would have preferred a tasting menu were the dishes complemented each other with paired wines.
Love the new menu. Refined yet relaxed and affordable.
Excellent food. Great service and atmosphere. Unique Austrian-inspired dishes in quaint old town Clifton.
Fantastic dining experience, from the food to service to atmosphere. Perfect for families and little kids. Bonus seeing the friendly Santa. Would love to come back with my wife for date night.
It was for a birthday.
Everything was great. We contemplated going given the poor references however were pleasantly surprised.
Another wonderful meal at Trummer's! We had a reservation for four on a Saturday, but needed to increase to six. We called the restaurant as soon as they opened on the day of the reservation and they graciously accommodated our request with a minimal shift in our arrival time. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive. We count Trummer's as a local dining favorite!
We got there early for our reservation time but our table wasn’t ready. Few things irritate my husband more than getting there early, having people who come in after us seated before us, and then being seated 10 minutes after our reservation time. Food presentation was pretty. Servers were nice. Noise volume was a little loud on the third floor.
I’ve wanted to go out to eat for years on Thanksgiving. When I saw Trummer’s Thanksgiving Dinner menu I knew it would be perfect for our family. Our daughter loved the Geechie Boy Mills Cornbread and I loved the Gem Lettuce Salad. The Prime Rib, Pappardelle Pasta and Turkey were favorites. The Sixty South Salmon portion was oddly small, approximately 8oz, for family style and seemed as if it should have been an appetizer instead of an entree course. Brioche Stuffing, sweet potato mousse, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce were the darlings of the side dishes. Rotisserie potatoes were lack luster. The Pumpkin Cheesecake made me a believer in cheesecake again, light and airy! We enjoyed a delicious bottle of JK Carriere Pinot Nior. The service as usual, was a perfect balance of professional and approachable.
Great atmosphere and the food was excellent. A little more than we like to spend, but with boxes we took home, we got two meals out of the deal! I would definitely go again.
My husband went to Trummer's for Thanksgiving dinner. We each started off with their signature cocktail, The Titanic, which we both enjoyed. You can watch them make it on YouTube but it's basically muddled green grapes, house-made grape vodka, topped with house-made elderberry infused syrup. Next comes the house-made champagne sorbet that floats like the fabled iceberg and then is finished with a bit of Cava and a whole green grape. Very nice drink. Not too sweet, for those who hate cloying drinks, but not too powerful
The Thanksgiving menu started with a salad, followed by your choice of two entrees for the table (we had the roast turkey and the prime rib with veal jus) as well as all of the traditional sides (green bean casserole, whipped sweet potatoes with pomegranate, and brioche stuffing). Very tasty although not quite traditional enough to satisfy my Turkey Day nostalgia. That's the only downside to eating out for Thanksgiving. No matter how delicious the recipe away from home, there's always a certain amount of disappointment because it doesn't match the dish you treasure from your family dinners. That is the only reason why I'm giving the food 4 stars instead of 5. But the dinner, as a whole, was simply lovely. My husband and I look forward to going back for a meal from their regular menu.
Food was delicious and left you wanting more. Service Friendly and on point. Cocktails creative. Sad I missed the main dining room space but a reason to return.
Thanksgiving dinner at Trummer”s in Clifton was very, very good! We live just up the road in Centreville and both of us wondered why we have not gone to Trummer’s more often. Everything was fantastic and friendly. We will recommend Trummer’s to our friends and family and will return next Thanksgiving.
This was our first time visiting the restaurant. As someone who requires handicap accessibility it was perfect. No problems there. We were there for Thanksgiving and everything was impeccable from the service to the food. They have a very welcoming staff to greet you as soon as you enter. There is no question that we would return again for dinner or, as I now understand it, their new brunch.
Excellent. Can’t wait to return. Thank you Trummer’s for a wonderful time and the best food in the DMV. My guests were so impressed.
Our Thanksgiving at Trummers was SO nice! The new menu is delicious... every dish was clean and tasty and seasoned just right! Our service was terrific and allowed us to spend time with our family and just chat and catch up. Nicole picked a fabulous wine for us!! Love Trummers and their hospitality! 🦃🦃
wonderful place. a little noisy in the new addition but the old part is wonderful. service-fabulous and the food wonderful.
They were clearly having a bad night. Drinks took 20 minutes, dinner took almost 40, and one entree was cold. Not what you expect from a place like Trummers.
The food was good but not memorable.
The new menu is simple, unfussy, and inventive, but most of all, delicious.
A birthday dinner for my sister and me, hosted by our mother. Dinner was delightful and the staff was very helpful to my mother.
We’ll definitely return!
I had a lovely time with my friends but both items I got the soup and the halibut or tepid and I thought the food was just OK. The wait staff was good but not great I do like the dining room not so fond of the bar area it is too lIght.
The service was great and the food was really tasty. Especially loved the option of ordering wines by the half glass - helped us to try a few different wines. This is the first time we visited after the renovations - the space looks great.
If you're already in Clifton then it would be a pleasant enough experience. I for one don't like being asked "is it a date night" as my wife and were being shown to our table. Plus, don't tell me a nearby two top is reserved if in fact it's not. Food is fine - service has a ways to go. We may show up again to try the bar area, but while nice, it isn't worth the effort. Again, if folks are in the area, it's good enough - just don't consider it a destination type restaurant.
Great service and food. Staff was enthusiastic. Had great suggestions and made it a truly memorable experience.
Amazing dining experience! From the fantastic waiter (Patrick) to delicious food, we couldn't have had a better experience! Every single plate was delicious and the drinks were solid. Definitely one of the best dining experiences we've had in Northern VA!
Food selection was great. Service was outstanding. Waitstaff was very attentive. We commented on the blue cornbread and the pastry chef came out to talk, then we were taken to the kitchen. Great experience.
I loved Trummer’s before and I love it even more! The renovation is beautiful with a softer color palette throughout the restaurant and the food is amazing. The rotisserie is such a great addition, the chicken and prime rib were delicious! Everything from the pretzel rolls to french onion soup to the pumpkin cheesecake was amazing. I can’t wait to come back!
Overall ok experience. The food was good, but not as good as the hype. The service was subpar and that was the most disappointing aspect of the meal. For the price and the hype, we expected more.
Great time, loved the “s’mores” dessert. The place is beautiful. Thanks.
Food great, but.... 30 minutes to get our drinks. Finished our dinner and intended to order desert, but our waiter didn’t come for 20 more minutes, so we passed. Good food but service certainly leaves something to be desired.
Wife’s birthday - our first visit since the renovation - miss the tasting menu, but food was great. Our server, Patrick, was top notch! Coming back for pre-Christmas dinner!
This place is fabulous - we’ve never had even an average dish and this trip was no exception. I wish they’d bring back the tasting menu but our appetizers (oysters and escargot), entrees (pork schnitzel and fish) and desserts (especially the s’mores) were outstanding. The sommelier recommended a fabulous wine that I will definitely buy again - ask for her advice to try something new from the extensive wine menu.
The new decor is not much different than it was before, except for the very unattractive mural on the stairwell wall. The service was delightful, friendly yet professional. The food is just fair...it's not bad but it's certainly not great. We tried a variety of dishes and none of them wowed us. I am puzzled why this place gets accolades from restaurant reviewers, and it certainly doesn't live up to the hype. There are far better places to dine, both in this price range and higher. Sorry Trummer's, I wanted to love you and the new menu, but I can't.
We were eager to try the re-vamped Trummer's and see how it compared. They still have an outstanding wine list and the same (excellent) sommelier. Signature cocktails continue to be interesting and worth the experience. We were not thrilled with the menu or the food prep. Very limited gluten free non-meat items. Brussel sprouts and Shishito peppers were greasy. Some things to work on......
Superb service and food. The wine list is extensive, and the Sommelier is very helpful. However, the offerings are a bit pricey. This is a nice special occasion restaurant. I highly recommend.
A little underwhelming. First time going after the reopening and rebranding. Not a great ambiance service was mediocre at best. With these prices it felt a little cheap having to pay for bread which you get at most lesser expensive restaurants. I already miss the old Trummers 😔
I’m hoping the bar remains the same.
We were here celebrating a new job opportunity which means relocation to another state. The food, service , and ambience was fantastic as always. This is why Trummer’s has always been a “go to”. I took my parents here a year ago and they still talk about how incredible our experience was. Thanks you Trummer’s for many memorable occasions with family and dear friends. We’ll miss you and we’ll miss Virginia.
Amazing, interesting food and helpful but not overbearing service. Will definitely be back!
We celebrated our Anniversary this year at Trummers. We had a private table with exceptional service. The entire menu from drinks, meals, desserts was on point. We enjoyed tasting Pinots from their partnership with Walt Wines in CA. The service was excellent, the Sommelier came and explained the wine tasting, our server gave us space to linger between courses but was attentive, and we were treated to a special dessert bite. We are already looking forward to coming back and recommending to our friends.
