Uncle Julio's - Brookfield
Work on cleaning
I had a great time on Friday, 11/15/19 with a friend at Uncle Julio's!
My steak quesadilla was flavorful and tender, without any of the fat or gristle you often get with a skirt steak item, and I loved the chips and salsa (the heat sneaks up on you so be warned if you're an extreme lightweight like myself).
Our server--Hayley, I believe--was fantastic, bringing my dining companion copious amounts of Diet Coke as he needed them and keeping us well-stocked with the aforementioned chips and salsa as well. Her recommendation of the honey chipotle chicken was also appreciated at the table.
The only reason I can't go five stars here was the less than welcoming host staff. Between the three of them at the stand, no one could offer up a friendly smile and also spoke very quietly for such a loud establishment. I announced that I had a reservation and was handed a pager with a mumbled statement that I couldn't decipher and she didn't seem interested in repeating. Thankfully we were seated within a couple minutes of the reservation time, but instead of starting the experience on a high note, Uncle Julio's had to work a bit harder to overcome this first impression.
If your from SoCal and looking for good Mexican, this is the most authentic Mexican food in the Milwaukee area.
Food came out very fast. The burrito was semi cold. Informed server and she took care of it.

We were hesitant to go because we got a lot of mixed feedback from friends. We were told it was over priced and the service was awful. We decided to try it and took our niece with us. We were greeted by 2 friendly hostesses. Our server was named Raul. The hostess that sat us and our server, told us about a new special you were just starting that night for $10 a person for the tacos. We usually go to a place called Su Casa on Tuesday nights for taco Tuesday. This was outstanding! All the toppings, the hard and soft shells and the 2 meat choices plus rice and beans were fabulous. The ground beef could've used a little seasoning because it was on the bland side but that's what a salt shaker is for. I personally have a lot if internal health issues so I only ate half a taco but it was delicious. When I go out I usually ask to order off a kid's menu because I cannot eat a lot but just thought I would just pay the $10. Now let's talk about our server. If anyone has ever had bad service then they need to request Raul because when we return, we will ask for him. He was one of the best servers we have ever had at any restaurant and we eat out 5 nights a week. I did leave 2 messages at your corporate phone number because I wanted to compliment him but they never returned a call. He was very attentive and I know we probably had him running for us but we definitely tipped him well because he deserved it. We then ordered your chocolate pinata for dessert and everything was delicious. I posted so many pictures on Facebook and everyone was asking where it was and how it was and the ones who gave bad feedback said they were now going to go back on a Tuesday and try it and ask for Raul so you better keep him scheduled on Tuesdays - LOL! Thank you and we look forward to going back!
It was my 30th birthday and my first time coming here I loved it . Next time I want to bring my kids for the chocolate piñata it was to die for !!!
Best carne asada I have ever had!
One of the meals was cold but all others were very good. Good portion sizes and very tasty.
First time! Loved it!
We had a great time. Food was tasty and margarita was delicious. A little on the higher priced side, but I was ok with that given the homemade. Server was not the friendliest, didn't stop by often and we had to flag her for our check after waiting for some time. She didn't offer dessert, which is usually standard.
Fish tacos were so spicy we couldn’t even eat them. No where in the description on the menu did it say they were spicy.

I was really happy with Uncle Julio's. My wife and I went there early on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation on the day before and everything after 5:00 was taken through 8:30. So if you are planning a prime time visit, book early. We were ok with this time as it fit well into our day's plans.
We were seated immediately. Our server Laurie was very friendly and helpful. Since this was our first visit she explained the restaurant's intentions with the menu and ingredients.
The first thing we had was the salsa and chips. The salsa was had a good flavor and we liked it, but it could had more heat. As other reviewers have said, it is very mild.
My wife and I split the daily special; a pineapple margarita on the rocks. It was made from fresh pineapple. We both agreed it was fantastic.
For dinner both of us had the fajitas, I had chicken and steak, while she had the vegetarian. Both were very good, although the peppers and onions on both were heavy with onions and light on peppers.
The vegetarian fajitas came with black beans and cilantro rice instead of the traditional kidney beans and mexican rice. We did not ask, but I believe this was to keep the dish vegetarian as I know my beans had meat in them. This was a nice touch that we appreciated.
With all of the food we decided to skip dessert.
The outdoor areas were closed the night we went as it was around freezing when we arrived. The outdoor areas do look nice though and I look forward to going the spring and summer.
Overall we were very happy with Uncle Julio's and we will be going back for sure.
Really good food with lots of flavor. Relaxing music etc not too loud. Good service. Good job.
The service was very good, but the food was just unspectacular. The Tortilla Chicken Soup was cold and the tortillas were very salty as was the salsa. My daughter thought the tomales were plain. But I would give it another chance, maybe they were having an off day or we ordered the wrong things.
I would definitely come back here but only when it’s not so crowded. It was almost impossible to get a hold of our waitress because she is helping other tables. Our water glasses were empty. And we’ve never been to a Mexican eatery without horchata. And no hot sauce. Hopefully you can make some improvements to the menu. Thank you.
Very enjoyable, the food was first rate. The service was great. I will go back again
It was great!!!
My food was horrible the drinks were great but the fajitas were very small portions and the steak was rubber

The food was cold practically and the rice was very dry
Hello, We apologize to hear that your meal was less than excellent as this is not our standard. We have sent your review to our teams and hope to serve you again for a much improved experience. Thank you, Uncle Julio's
Great service in dining room. Bartender was overworked and forgot we had ordered. Had to remind her after awhile.
Drinks were very good, but small for the cost. Lots of ice. Fajitas were very flavorful, but not sizzling like I’m used too. Booth was very tight.
Server Nicole was very good and made great recommendations when asked. We will return sometime, but it’s not a drive out of my way place for Mexican. Solid 4 stars.
Overall it was great. Food was great and the chocolate piñata was awesome! Would have been 5 stars if the tortillas did not show up 10 minutes after the fajita platters. Glad we called ahead as we still had to wait 10-15 minutes for our reserved table.
We were so excited to try this restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, the hype didn’t live up to the reality. Everything overall was just okay. They are using their somewhat outside section enclosed with glass for seating. It has a completely different feel to the regular part of the restaurant. We were first shown to a table in that section but noticed an open booth directly inside across from the glass. So, we asked for that instead. It made a big difference in the ambience. Nothing was really bad but with the exception of the margaritas, nothing was very good either. We had table side guacamole to start, followed by entrees of fajitas and enchiladas. There frankly weren’t many options considering it’s a Mexican restaurant. We do not anticipate going back.

Great time! Food and margaritas were excellent.
Great food and drinks. Very fresh and wonderful flavor!
Too pricey. My enchiladas had a velteta tasting cheese sauce. I’ve had much better enchiladas elsewhere.
Love it here! The food is always so fresh and the flavors are so authentic! The service is great too! The only thing I would comment on negatively is the drinks are a bit pricey but that's at many places and most of the time worth the price!
Pulled chicken tacos are amazing best rice and beans I've ever had.
Salsa is not very good. Drinks are really expensive. They would do good to offer drink specials. Food very good. Service was awesome.
Had another great visit to Uncle Julio's. You are definitely my and my friends newest favorite restaurant. The salsa this night was very watery and our waiter, who seemed a bit new, said "that's just the way it is tonight sorry". We had to ask for our waters and for refill of chips. Minor concerns for sure I may even be back this week again yet.
It was my birthday today and we have been here before and loved it. It was my husband and I for a noon lunch. Everything was great! I loved the honey chipotle chicken fajitas and my husband had the bacon wrapped shrimp both excellent.
We are keeping this on our list of best Mexican restaurants to frequent. Our server was great sorry I didn't note his name and I didn't keep the receipt to reference
Credit Card got hacked from mobile credit card device used by server. Received email notification almost immediately after transaction. Would recommend not using those devices. Had to cancel credit card from credit card company. Food just ok, seating not comfortable
Food all tasted like the same nasty spice. Taco Bell is better.
The 4th new customer I brought thought my large white cheese queso was a cheese soup, quite thin but it thickened thru out our meal. Personally, I think the queso and drinks are overpriced. Rest of our meals were awesome. The restaurant was quite loud despite being half full at weekday early lunch time. I will continue to bring friends to experience this wonderful restaurant.
Food and serice were fabulous. Our group had a great time..we will be back#
Really expensive for Mexican food. Really, really expensive. We can appreciate fine dining - didn't expect to pay $23 for an entree at a Mexican restaurant.
One cocktail, two entrees, we spent almost $100 with tip.
It was delicious. But we won't go back on our own. If somebody wants to treat us, fine.
As always, this place is amazing! We ordered the table side guacamole and the Honey chipotle chicken fajitas for 2. When they brought out our fajitas, the only brought an order for 1, but VERY quickly brought out a 2nd order. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, the food, delicious!! Uncle Julio’s has become my favorite place to go for fajitas!!
Great food, good service and a fun time.
Uncle Julio’s was great! Enjoyed it very much. We’ll be back!!
Celebrating my birthday. Server added a Happy Birthday message on chocolate piñata which was a nice touch.
