Union Oyster House
The Union Oyster House is outstanding! The seafood is top notch. The service was excellent and the historic ambience was great. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if you like seafood.
Long time customer. Chowder is the best in New England. Food and service were fantastic.
Muy rico un tradicional bostoniano
Relaxed environment and friendly staff
Really nice food and service! It was amazing
Came here for the clam chowder and did not disappoint!
Go for the history. The food is average and over priced. The service was outstanding.
Excellent experience. Our server Debbie was phenomenal.
I walked in and my table was ready. The service was excellent! The food was even better!! I will definitely go back when I’m back in town!
We came for my daughter’s Birthday dinner. Thank you for being one of the few places left open! They loved the decor and food. It was my 4th time and it’s always very good.
It was awesome! It has so much history, the service was amazing, the food was even better, definitely something to not pass up when you are in the area!
Meh. Food was great but WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY overpriced. Cool building with great history. Service was really good as well...won’t be back simply due to price.
We had a great experience at Union Oyster House - great service, good food and fun, historic atmosphere!
The food was just poor quality. There’s no other way to put it. We were really looking forward to eating here and save it for our last dinner in Boston. What a disappointment. In truth the reviews I read online told me I shouldn’t have gone. They were right. The restaurant was unique and the story behind it was something to experience. But the food was sad and tasteless. We all had something different and nobody was happy with their choices. I wouldn’t go back.
Service was extraordinarily slow and we were in no hurry. Heard this place had the best clam chowder and it was lackluster at best. My husband had the lazy man’s lobster which should’ve been called the lazy man’s breadcrumbs. It was really pricey fir the quantity & quality too. The moscato was nice and cold. We wouldn’t go back.
Great for tourists not likely to visit again. Awesome service. Food, meh. Drinks were well prepared.
Food was amazing! Food was great! We had the lobster dinners boiled. So good!
Is a good place, historical, located in a very important lcoation. The food is good but not than an Ale house for example, and the price a little expensive. But is recommended for a visit to Boston.
Service was great and quick. However, I had a reservation and the restaurant is empty and they still sat me next to the kitchen door?
Enjoyed the history of the location, but that won’t be enough to bring me back. Primary issue was the music in the restaurant. I don’t prefer to hear 90’s and 00’s hip hop while dining with my family at a place like that. Seriously, who thought that would be a good choice for the atmosphere at such a cool and historical restaurant?!? Second, I was very unimpressed that the server offered what sounded like complementary clam chowder between our appetizers and entrees, only to charge us for them. We didn’t need them, didn’t ask for them, but he seemed eager to offer. Turns out it was just an opportunity for him to upcharge us $15. Total bill was $270, waaay over priced for the atmosphere and service!
The food was ok, the service was the down part. Our server even admitted he couldn't wait to get back home and take a "shot". Maybe they just need to staff more folks, but nonetheless, wouldn't rush back to dine here.
Visiting kid in college and we always go to Union Oyster House. Bought requisite T-shirts (always get one) and went to dine. Server and food were top notch, as always.
Great seafood in the heart of the city
The food was excellent and our server John was incredible. The oysters and lobster were beyond expectations. Will definitely come back
A perfect dinner. Came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint.
Great except when our waiter left to go on break halfway through lunch
Food made me sick and was really bland. The lobster was cold as well and under cooked
Perhaps I had too high of expectations but the food was terrible. Scrod was like soft mush, lobster roll was tasteless, chowder just tasted like potato soup and the corn bread sucked every ounce of moisture from your mouth. I went bc of the history but wish I just walked by rather than spend a small fortune on tasteless food.
We always go to UOH when we're in Boston. The food is amazing and we love the old building.
The server was great and food pretty good too. We had a great time.
Delicious food in a fun environment. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for some great seafood!
Wanted to try the seafood here being in Boston visiting. My husband loved the blackened cod. He said it was delicious but small portion. The baked beans were nothing special. Fish chowder delicious. Sampler of shell fish and oysters fresh. No complaints on whole lobster. We shared the Boston cram pie and to dye for. The exclusive Sam Adams beer was a plus. Great decoration in the oldest restaurant. Will be back when visiting Boston. Thank you
Absolutely wonderful in every way. Our waiter John was well informed about menu items and the history of the establishment. A must see while in the Boston area.
Birthday day dinner! They went above and beyond to make it special!
Had heard amazing things about this restaurant. I made a reservation for 7:45 having no clue they closed at 8pm- who takes reservations 15 min before closing?! When we arrived it took 12 min for a server to take our order- we were then told that we had to order everything we wanted right away because the kitchen closed in 3 minutes. The food was mediocre at best. I felt guilty coming in that close to closing the entire meal and rushed through everything to just get out of there. Please do not take a reservation for 15min before your kitchen and restaurant closes. It is not kind or fair to your staff or a pleasant experience for your patrons.
We had a very nice time; service was excellent. I was somewhat disappointed with the oysters as they were not very clean. They contained a lot of grit. My husband said his scallops were delicious. My fried butterfly shrimp were just okay. I would go back to try something different, but not the oysters. I've had better elsewhere.
Union Oyster House is amazing in every way! My favorite place when I travel to Boston.
Mediocre food at a fine dining price, skip it and go to a better local spot that isn't overhyped
Union Oyster house is a classic. The seafood is fresh and expertly prepared. We always start with the oysters and they never disappoint us. Both my husband and I had the haddock and it was the best we have had anywhere.
Service was excellent, very attentive but never intrusive. We try to go here at leastl once a year.
First time in Boston and I wanted a good traditional dinner & honestly speaking Union Oyster house top that. I absolutely recommended :D
