Urge Gastropub & Common House
I’ve been here about ten times since they opened. The first time was the best...the food was great. The last nine times the food has been terrible. We won’t be going back. The service was excellent and the beer was good. Bad food.
Sons 17th birthday dinner.
Love Urge and the food! However, even though we indicated on the reservation details that we had a birthday, the waitress never asked about it, never offered anything, and didn't even say happy birthday when we took out our own cake! In fact, she didn't even seem like she wanted to be there. Poor representation for a great restaurant.
It’s no wonder the Oceanside location went out of business. No one seems to care about anything there. The cocktails took over 10 minutes each time we ordered them, I saw the server go behind the bar herself to poor them.
The food was poor. The Brussels were so heavy and syrupy, the calamari was equal to a frozen dinner with some gross sauce, and the Mac n cheese did not feel fresh. For the pricing it did not add up. The server was nice but charged us $28 in items we did not order. She corrected it but only because we brought it to her attention.
I haven’t been so disappointed in a meal in a long time. At this rare, this location won’t survive either. So disappointing because the building and locations are nice. But the food was gross.
Everything just took way too long to arrive. The server brought the wrong drink for my daughter prior to us ordering food, and the correct drink didn't come until after the food arrived. We asked for an extra plate and never got that at all. It wasn't busy enough for the service to be that slow.
Great service, excellent atmosphere even with young kids in tow, food was quick to the table and excellent!
Food was excellent and the waiter very helpful when selecting micro brewskies.
GREAT place for family, relaxing fun.
We had a great time with multiple families enjoying dinner together
Great service, fun atmosphere
Great ambience. we ordered fish/chips and poke/chips which was delicious. we asked for new water, glass was filthy and you could see debris..we were served the same glasses when we received “new water.”
Beer and cocktails were good...
We felt rushed, our server handed us our check and we weren’t even done ordering....
The occasion was a visiting supplier from Northern California and the thought of something delicious in a hip setting where the balance of ambience and service were perfect!! Looking forward to our return!
Great last minute date night. Great happy hour menu. We thoroughly enjoy every visit to Urge.
The communication between the kitchen and the waitress, was horrible! Not only did they not have an item from one of the dishes we ordered, they brought it out without saying a word. When we pointed it out, the waitress went back to the kitchen then returned and apologized saying that they had ran out of that side. Unbelievable. Then the beer I ordered took 10 minutes before that too was reportedly one they were out of. To their credit, we did get a beer and a dish on the house, but still, not a great experience.
Our experience was good. There was a significant amount of time from when we ordered our beers until we received them at the table. Other than that everything was great.
outside games were great.
beer/food was good.
bowling alley service attendant kept stringing my group along until closing-never actually getting to bowl.
Went to Urge to have fun with the kids while also enjoy an afternoon out. We ate a meal, played chess outside and also did a round of bowling. Overall it was great. I especially loved the Vodka Derby. It was not overly sweet and was really refreshing! The place seemed really kid friendly (went on a Sunday afternoon) and I would go again!
We had a great time at Urge. The staff was so attentive and friendly. It’s such a great space. As a Gastropub I felt that the menu was not necessarily the most inventive or unusual but everything we had was delicious. Lots to choose from, from fresh light and healthy options to comfort food done well. So many beer choices. We will be back!
I have been to the urge many times. I’m not sure what happened on Saturday night but it was the worst service I have ever had there. Our dishes were dirty twice. We got 2 menus for 6 people. My beer was not the correct order. Also our waitress was no where to be found half the time. I had to go find her to ask for water, and the check. I went to urge for a birthday dinner as many others did that night. Very disappointed and was not happy with this night.
WaS OUR FIRST THE WAITERS GOT SOME NEW ELECTRONIC ORDER BOOKS AND SERVICE WAS SLOW, HOPEFULLY IT WILL GET BETTER.
We were greeted and seated immediately when we arrived. Our waitress was friendly and helped us out quickly. We ordered two appetizers, the Brussels sprouts and the cheese curds. Both were delicious, especially the sprouts. My friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries which she enjoyed immensely. The California burger I ordered was good, and the fries were tasty but not crisp at all. With all of the food we ordered, we were only able to eat half of our sandwiches along with half of the appetizers. Overall, the food was good and the service was fine. It’s a nice restaurant for a fun dinner, although the prices might be a tad high for an everyday meal.
Food was really awesome🙂
Greatly good food. We had the
Beautiful setting, great food and beer.
overall good but the service is pretty slow.
Good just fair. Fast breads under cooked want crispy. Jambalaya made with noodles not rice.
We came for a birthday and it was great!
Food was good not great. Service was fantastic. Little overpriced for what you get though. Bowling area need additional staff also. The staff in there was great trying they’re best but we’re overwelmed with handling all the guest.
Planned ahead reserved a table for special occasion indicated as such when making said reservation asked for a nice table specifically and guess where they sat us next to the bathrooms lol what a joke. And top it off this was like the kids corner or something literally a table for like 6 toddler aged kids like wait is this a brewery lol. Parents chasing their kids down all over the place picking them up throwing them in the air playing with them adorbs right wrong not the place go to chuckee cheese adults are trying to chill not a great environment for that now is it especially with all the crying and screaming yikes. Also service was weird food was tasteless bland pricey just a major let down on all fronts oh and don’t get me started on parking I’m done bye
We were celebrating a birthday. It was a great time. They just were short staffed when they opened and it was busy.
Another nice dinner with friends. Pastrami sandwich wasn’t anything to write home about. Boring. Meatloaf was outstanding, Chicken Schnitzel must have been good it was inhaled. Too much coconut with the carrot cake.
Great beer and drink list!
Overall everything was really good. Everyone that came had a great time. There was a couple people that were with us that have gone to another location and didn't like it. They said they wouldn't go back to the other locations. They like the one in San Marcos though.
Fun place to gather with friends - cool decor. Most of the food was good but very disappointing tacos as an entree - more like appetizer size - and very pricey for what you got. Overall, a good place.
I so wanted to love this amazing place. Alas, the food was not great, and the service was friendly yet inefficient. I so want this cool restaurant venue to succeed- work it out and we will try again!
The food came very fast and the service was very nice!
Not sure if it just The Urge or other restaurants that I have not noticed yet, but we got taxed on tax. There were three additional charges, one was noted at the bottom of the menu. There was the Surcharge, Add-On Tax, and then we were taxed on all of that. Placed was packed as usual, we had a reservation they almost didn't honor but the manager found a table. Understand some individuals hung out longer then expected, but that is why we made reservations.
Dear Opentable, if you want people to leave a "survey" don't make a review mandatory!!!!!
Big and everything was great!
The food and drinks were fantastic. We had a great time and look forward to coming back.
