   We got a charcuterie board, bread with some sort of herby buttery spread, filet, carrots, short rib, lamb strip, pappardelle, and NY strip… what a flavorful dinner! The chef really knows how to season and cook quality meats!! Everything tasted so fresh, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection. Our service was perfect. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and helpful! We will definitely be returning! ALSO, the donut bread pudding was amazing for dessert!!

   Book ahead to make sure you can dine here. We were heading to Fox Theatre with friends, and my daughter recommended this restaurant. Happy hour between five and seven offers a special menu. We chose salmon and deluxe hamburgers with fries. Helpful and friendly staff. Great place for adults to dine.

   Our Pork Chop was a little salty. The Mushroom dish wasn’t liked and so was the Salmon with broth. The lady who was trying to check us out was having trouble to understand how to ring us with a combination of cash and credit card payments.

   My work associate and I hosted 2 clients for dinner. We were seated on time and were told about the specials...tomahawk and pork chop, 2,500 different bottles of wine and the selection was very diverse in price, variety and geography. The food was excellent. We tried the grapes for an appetizer, delicious! We also shared 2 deserts and the doughnut cake was also excellent. I would not hesitate to entertain guests at vertical in future visits back to the motor city.

    Unfortunately, the service was absolutely terrible. Our server was rude the entire time which was unfortunate. All of our food came out, undercooked as well.

    I was in town on business and looking for a fine dining experience. I did my research and secured a 5:15 reservation on a Thursday earlier this month. I paid the deposit. We arrived a few minutes prior to the reservation. We are professionals and were dressed in high end business attire. When we arrived the hostess located our reservation and asked us to follow her. She proceeds to walk us through an entirely empty restaurant with only 1 pair on the dinning room and take us to the bar area and place the 2 of us in the very back table for 4. I immediately told her that I had secured a reservation and I had not come for a bar experience but for a fine dining experience. She said “but we set this table aside for you.” I informed her it was unacceptable. She then said “but we have people with reservations.” I kindly reminded her that I too had a reservation. She then brought us back to the entirely empty dining room. We waited as she went to check for table availability. When she returned, and we had been standing in heels, she gestured us to a table for 2. It wasn’t until after she left I realized that we were seated next to the bathroom in an empty dining room. The ONLY thing I can attribute this too is race. Because when two scantily clad ladies entered the dining room they were seated next to us. They ended up asking the waitress to be moved to the bar for their dining experience because they knew they were not dressed appropriately. While my food was outstanding it is clear that Vertical Detroit prefer someone like me not dine at their restaurant. What a great impression of Detroit.

    A wonderful meal with amazing service. Parking was a nightmare because of several events going on in the area (not their fault, of course). The menu was a bit pricey for the area, but not too bad. We had a great time and will definitely return.

    The Vertical is absolutely lovely. A charming atmosphere and beautiful decor. Everyone was delightful and the service was very good but I wanted more time to talk with my guest and a water refill and check in happened every 10-15 mins. The food was delicious; the porch chop was to DIE FOR!! Tender, perfectly seasoned, perfect temp and abundant portion. The delicious shrimp entree was in a delicious broth with fresh vegetables but I needed grits to make it a meal. The plantain is not a traditional preparation but I loved it with the black bean purée and pickled veggies. The Caesar salad dressing was so good I wanted MORE! We’ll be back! Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Thank you!

    Took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday- we walk past it often leaving the parking garage located across from it when going to the Music Hall or Stadium for events. The ambiance was amazing- from the walls, to the lighting, to the bar area. The service and first impression was absolutely breathtaking. The hostess were efficient, did coat check and notifies us of areas where to watch our steps and pointed out different areas of the facility. Our server, was beyond informative and knowledgeable, made great recommendations and was sure to explain in depth when answering any of our questions. This was worth every dollar it is priced for. The lamb was absolutely tasteful; the double bone-in pork chop was super savory and paired well with the grits and greens. From the drinks to the wine, AMAZING!

    Katie, who waited on us, was amazing! Remy, Gordon and staff (especially HAWK) make you feel like you are a part of the family. Best pork chop we've ever had and the whole branzino was truly special.
